The Daily Beast reported on June 14, 2014:
When Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi walked away from a U.S. detention camp in 2009, the future leader of ISIS issued some chilling final words to reservists from Long Island.
The Islamist extremist some are now calling the most dangerous man in the world had a few parting words to his captors as he was released from the biggest U.S. detention camp in Iraq in 2009.
“He said,‘I’ll see you guys in New York,’” recalls Army Col. Kenneth King, then the commanding officer of Camp Bucca.
King didn’t take these words from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as a threat. Al-Baghdadi knew that many of his captors were from New York, reservists with the 306 Military Police Battalion, a unit based on Long Island that includes numerous numerous members of the NYPD and the FDNY. The camp itself was named after FDNY Fire Marshal Ronald Bucca, who was killed at the World Trade Center in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
King figured that al-Baghdadi was just saying that he had known all along that it was all essentially a joke, that he had only to wait and he would be freed to go back to what he had been doing.
“Like,‘This is no big thing, I’ll see you on the block,’” King says.
King had not imagined that in less that five years he would be seeing news reports that al-Baghdadi was the leader of ISIS, the ultra-extremist army that was sweeping through Iraq toward Baghdad.
“I’m not surprised that it was someone who spent time in Bucca but I’m a little surprised it was him,” King says.“He was a bad dude, but he wasn’t the worst of the worst.”
King allows that along with being surprised he was frustrated on a very personal level.
“We spent how many missions and how many soldiers were put at risk when we caught this guy and we just released him,” King says.
During the four years that al-Baghdadi was in custody, there had been no way for the Americans to predict what a danger he would become. Al-Baghdadi hadn’t even been assigned to Compound 14, which was reserved for the most virulently extremist Sunnis.
“The worst of the worst were kept in one area,” King says.“I don’t recall him being in that group.”
Al-Baghdadi was also apparently not one of the extremists who presided over Sharia courts that sought to enforce fundamentalist Islamic law among their fellow prisoners. One extremist made himself known after the guards put TV sets outside the 16-foot chain-link fence that surrounded each compound. An American officer saw a big crowd form in front of one, but came back a short time later to see not a soul.
“Some guy came up and shooed them all away because TV was Western,” recalls the officer, who asked not to be named.“So we identified who that guy was, put a report in his file, kept him under observation for other behaviors.”
The officer says the guards kept constant watch for clues among the prisoners for coalescing groups and ascending leaders.
“You can tell when somebody is eliciting leadership skills, flag him, watch him further, how much leadership they’re excerpting and with whom,” the other officer says.“You have to constantly stay after it because it constantly changes, sometimes day by day.”
The guards would seek to disrupt the courts along with and any nascent organizations and hierarchies by moving inmates to different compounds, though keeping the Sunnis and the Shiites separate.

iraq

When you see another of the media articles claiming that “Iraqis Lost Iraq” or “It’s All Bush’s Fault”… this is what they’re trying to divert attention from.

The FBI “most wanted” mugshot shows a tough, swarthy figure, his hair in a jailbird crew-cut. The $10 million price on his head, meanwhile, suggests that whoever released him from US custody four years ago may now be regretting it.

“Abu Duaa was connected to the intimidation, torture and murder of local civilians in Qaim”, says a Pentagon document.“He would kidnap individuals or entire families, accuse them, pronounce sentence and then publicly execute them.”

Why such a ferocious individual was deemed fit for release in 2009 is not known. One possible explanation is that he was one of thousands of suspected insurgents granted amnesty as the US began its draw down in Iraq.

I doubt Obama is going to regret it, unless his poll numbers begin to fall.

People aren’t buying what the Republicans are selling on Iraq. Republicans are blaming the violence on withdrawal of American troops, but 67% of Americans think the conflict is rooted in centuries of internal conflict that was exacerbated by the Bush administration’s decision to invade Iraq. Americans overwhelmingly support providing intelligence to the Iraqi government (56%-30%), and a major international diplomatic effort (52%-30%) to stabilize Iraq.

It turns out that the American people aren’t about to get fooled again by the same lies that got the country into Iraq in the first place. The Republican Party is playing a politically dangerous game by trying to blame President Obama for the wave of violence in Iraq. Instead of blaming Obama, the Republican attacks are reminding the American people that it was the GOP who lied and got the nation into a war of choice.

The American people don’t want combat troops back in Iraq because Iraq belongs to the Iraqis. President Obama did not “lose” Iraq because Iraq never belonged to the United States. It is up to the Iraqis to stabilize their country, and resolve their internal differences. The neo-con war agenda has never been less popular than it is today. The 275 troops that Obama sent to Iraq to secure US facilities and personnel was a smart decision. If the president didn’t send the extra security and something happened, Republicans would be screaming about another Benghazi. However, there is a big difference between sending a few hundred troops to keep Americans secure, and sending hundreds of thousands of troops to do the Iraqi government’s fighting for them.

The Republican era of war is over, and Obama’s decision to not send combat troops back to Iraq is a reminder of why so Americans voted twice for him to be president.

Barrack Obama, the most corrupt President in the nation's history.

His latest outrage? The IRS says they lost TWO YEARS worth of Lois Lerner's emails. She's the IRS official who took the fifth amendment to avoid prosecution for the criminal act of using the IRS as if it was an arm of the Democrat Party. That's right folks! The Democrats were using a government agency which has records on EVERYONE as if it was a political hammer to be used by them alone. Anyone who participated in this or had knowledge of it should go to prison for a long, long time. If this stands, we no longer have a democracy.

How convenient this all is for Obama! The IRS just happened to lose only HER emails and for the period of time during which crimes supposedly occurred.

Nixon was impeached only for losing 18 minutes of audio tape. Obama makes Nixon look like a saint!

Birther shoots two law enforcement officers

Authorities, according to The Modesto Bee and other sources, have identified the man who is suspected of shooting a California Highway Patrol officer and a Bureau of Land Management ranger at a Nevada County, California, campground last Saturday, as Brent Douglas Cole. Cole, 60, was himself wounded in the confrontation and is in stable condition.

In any shooting incident, the first question that comes to mind is: Is the suspect a birther? Evidence is mounting that he is a birther.

Cole was previously charged (State of California -vs- Brent Douglas Cole Case Number M-14-0000388) for carrying a loaded firearm on his person and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle (charges which he disputes). He has a pre-trial conference scheduled for June 30.

Cole was also a supporter of Operation Mutual Aid, a loose association of militia groups involved in the Cliven Bundy Ranch standoff.

At first blush, the latest twist in the discredited IRS “controversy” may appear serious, but it’s worth pausing to take a closer look.

Congressional investigators are fuming over revelations that the Internal Revenue Service has lost a trove of emails to and from a central figure in the agency’s tea party controversy.

The IRS said Lois Lerner’s computer crashed in 2011, wiping out an untold number of emails that were being sought by congressional investigators.

House Republicans are apoplectic, and on the surface, it’s easy to see why. Investigators, still hoping to find some evidence of wrongdoing against someone long after the trail went cold and the “scandal” evaporated, have sought materials that should be available. The IRS now claims many of those materials are no longer accessible due to a computer mishap.

For the right, the response sounds a bit like a dog-ate-my-homework kind of answer. Some of the pundits who’ve ignored the exculpatory evidence and continue to hope there’s a legitimate story in here somewhere, are calling for a special prosecutor.

But there’s probably less here than meets the eye.

According to the tax agency, the excuse is legitimate. As the AP reported,“The IRS said technicians went to great lengths trying to recover data from Lerner’s computer in 2011. In emails provided by the IRS, technicians said they sent the computer to a forensic lab run by the agency’s criminal investigations unit. But to no avail.”

For Republicans and their allies, this sounds like a convenient way to deny investigators access to Lerner’s emails. But note, the IRS has already produced 67,000 emails to and from Lerner, from 2009 to 2013, and were able to piece together 24,000 Lerner emails from the missing period based those who’d been cc’d in various messages. This is hardly evidence of a cover-up.

For that matter, note that Republicans and conspiracy theorists are principally interested in Lerner’s messages from 2012 – the election year. The computer crash affected emails from before 2012. If the IRS intended to hide potentially damaging materials from investigators, and it was willing to use a made-up technical problem to obscure the truth, chances are the agency would have scrapped Lerner’s emails from the relevant period, not emails from before the relevant period.

That said, if Republicans want to talk about the outrage that comes with an administration that claims to have lost emails due to a technical glitch, let’s broaden the conversation a bit.

The Bush White House email controversy surfaced in 2007, during the controversy involving the dismissal of eight U.S. attorneys. Congressional requests for administration documents while investigating the dismissals of the U.S. attorneys required the Bush administration to reveal that not all internal White House emails were available, because they were sent via a non-government domain hosted on an email server not controlled by the federal government. Conducting governmental business in this manner is a possible violation of the Presidential Records Act of 1978, and the Hatch Act…. In 2009, it was announced that as many as 22 million emails may have been deleted.[emphasis added]

At the time, congressional Republican didn’t seem bothered by this at all. Imagine that.

Of course, the difference is, there was credible evidence that the Bush White House engaged in actual wrongdoing, suggesting the missing emails included potentially incriminating evidence, all of which somehow went missing.

In contrast, no one has yet produced any evidence that the IRS “controversy” is real.

Can you say DEBUNKED?
How debunked? Hillary, Obama and Susan Rice lied and said it was just a mob upset by a video. Are you saying they just arrested an unimportant Libyan who was "just out for a walk and decided to go killl some Americans" (to quote Hillary)? According to that trio of liars, this was not a terrorist attack but a mob that got out of control. Preposterously, we were supposed to believe this mob included trained mortar teams and heavy machine guns (you know, what all last-minute, spur of the moment mobs always have on hand). Only a moron could believe their stupid lie.

So we got just one guy out of this huge, uncoordinated, non-terrorist mob? We sent our Special Forces into Libya to grab one guy no different than dozens of others? That seems highly unlikely.

In fact, the Liar Trio knew all along this was a terrorist attack. They knew it AS IT WAS HAPPENING! They told the American public it was "video outrage syndrome" to get Obama re-elected, nothing more. Now we've arrested a terrorist, not some poor Libyan who got upset by a video. This only proves that Hillary, Obama and Rice lied.

Eat my dust, liberal pin-head! LOL!
