Child Immigrant Facility Tour Won't Let Congressmen Take Pictures, Ask Questions

From: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Sent to members of Congress and staff by Rose Hacking, of the office of the assistant secretary of legislation at HHS, the invitation comes with the following commands:

No recording devices will be allowed (We may ask you to leave your cellphone in our vehicle)

No questions will be allowed during the tour, but questions will be addressed later

No interacting with staff and children at the shelter
We will provide photos of the facility after the tour

During the tour,”the tour guide will detail what goes on from room to room and the services youth are provided on a daily basis,” the email invitation reads.

But one congressional staffer invited to tour the facility called the planned tours “a dog and pony show.”

“Don’t talk to anyone, don’t record anything you might happen to see, but come visit us and we’ll give you a sanitized story with only the photos and accounts we want you to have,” said the staffer, who requested anonymity.

Republican lawmakers and military analysts are urging the administration to get more involved -- President Obama appeared to open the door Thursday to the possibility of air strikes, but no decision has been made. The president plans to make brief remarks on the situation in Iraq shortly before noon on the South Lawn.
.
You idots just never learn from history, even modern history do you?

Back in 98,when the Neocons were clamoring for President Clinton to invade Iraw, remove Saddam from powerer and turn Iraq into a large American Military base, they attacked Geroge H. W. Bush for not taking out Saddam in Gulf War I. Bush a world wise leader who understood goe politics responded that had we taken out Saddam, Iraq would devolve into a civil war and destablize the Middle East even moree. He stated that we couldstay there 10 years at a very high cost, and that when we left, it would erupt into a bloody civil war.

IT WOULD BECOME ANOTHER VIETNAM.

The majority of Middle East Experts and Military intelligence corps agreed.

Unfortunately, the Neocons, none of which served in Nam, most were never in the Military, much less ran a command, decided they knew better than anybody ellse. Heck, they refused to listen to kisten to their generals and instead let the Three Stooges, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Bremmer run the war and peace.

Gee and look what is happening now.

If you idiots can't learn from the past, then you send in your sons and daughters first. If these GOP politicians and Fox News are gonna second guess the President, then have them enlist their children and grand children in the military adn put them outside the wire. WE can have Sean, Anne, Rush, Glen, Charles and especially WILLIAM KRISTOL and all the other mouoth pieces lead the charge. Of couorse, we'll give them a spare set of pants, cause we all know they will pee them at the first sound of gunfire

I'm betting they will change their tune real friggin fast

Before I go. It will not partitioned. The Islamic Revolution will take over Iraq and Syria then spread across the whole middle east if not checked. This is going to turn out real bad!!!!!!!! The word caliphate comes to mind.

NEWSFLASH: THERE ARE SOMETHINGS IN THIS WORLD THAT ARE BEYOND OUR CONTROL.

We need to learn to butt out of Iraq, the minute we invaded its fate was sealed. George H.W. Bush understood that back in 92, which is why he left Saddamin power.

Too bad the average Republican is stuck on stupid and can't learn from the past.

Can you say Vietnam? If we go back into Iraq, that is what we will be getting into, another internal civil war, that we can't influence the outcomeof and will only cost us American lives and taxpayer dollars

The United States will be a long-term partner for “a strong and sovereign Afghanistan,” Obama said at a press conference with Karzai following their summit at the White House.

Obama and Karzai said security gains must be matched by political progress, and they committed to supporting a reconciliation process between the Afghan government and the Taliban. They were in agreement on the Taliban opening an office in Qatar where direct talks would take place between the Afghan government and the Taliban with support from regional countries, including Pakistan.

Direct ¨talks¨ with the Taliban. Sweet.¨Reconciliation.¨ Sounds like a plan, huh? What could possibly go wrong?

If you aree going to list Bush deficits, I must insist that you factor n the costs of both the Iraq and Afghanistan war. The Bush administration kept them off the budget books by calling them special appropriations. Something that President Obama stopped immediately when he took office, so the American public knew what the war was costing them

until you do that, you are comparing applies to oranges

The Iraqi military station in Ninevah Province took off their uniforms and hauled azz leaving their weapons including helicopters and tanks behind.
Police are also fleeing.
It's being reported that over 90,000 Iraqi military have deserted rather than face off with only a few thousand militants.
And we should NOT arm the militants (any further)!!!

A rigged election and a continuation of the war with the Taliban could lead to thousands of casualties, tens of thousands of refugees, a humanitarian crisis and international terrorist groups returning to Afghanistan.

The world will have no will to intervene once again, and the neighbouring states will pour in money and arms to try and control some of the warlords.

As the Americans leave and in order to highlight these outstanding problems, what is needed is a genuine neutral mediator who can help all the elements in this complex equation reach the right conclusions.

The United Nations or the European Union or individual, non-controversial countries such as Norway or Germany could play such a role.

The tragedy is that the US and Nato-led war has emasculated the potential peacemakers and mediators.

We need to prepare for the Western withdrawal now by building a major Western Diplomatic initiative that will REPLACE Western military force.

Thanks for sharing , up up up under Bush, then we had to pay for all Bush's mistakes and as you note it's headed down and back to being balanced again.
Too bad Obama can't run again and continue the trend, hopefully we won't get a Republican in there to fck it all up again like Bush did.
