Several Fox News hosts recently praised the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Michigan's ban on affirmative action, and Colbert noticed one problem.
"We don't need affirmative action because racial discrimination is officially over," the host joked on Thursday night. "Don't believe me? Just ask these other white people."
He proceeded to play clips of a Fox News guest, Eric Bolling and Andrea Tantaros all praising the Supreme Court ruling, which allows states to ban the use of race as a factor in college admissions. Tantaros said the decision was what Martin Luther King, Jr. himself would have wanted. In her words, King would have thought, "You know what, we don't need this because there is equality."
"That's right, African-Americans -- Dr. King said he might not make it to the promised land with you, but these guys did," Colbert said, referring to the Fox News hosts, "and they'll let you know how it is."

someday FOX might discover Google.
Reporter: "Do you feel it's fair to request a multibillion dollar program of preferential treatment for the Negro, or any other minority?"
Dr. King: "I do indeed .... Within common law, we have ample precedents for special compensatory programs.... America adopted a policy of special treatment for her millions of veterans .... They could negotiate loans from banks to launch businesses. They could receive special points to place them ahead in competition for civil service jobs .... There was no appreciable resentment of the preferential treatment being given to the special group."
"Whenever the issue of compensatory treatment for the Negro is raised, some of our friends recoil in horror. The Negro should be granted equality, they agree, but he should ask nothing more. On the surface, this appears reasonable, but it is not realistic."
"A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro."

hey FOX....no way in hell did MLK ever think like a conservative.
one can practice "affirmative action" by considering black applicants on an equal basis with white applicants, or on a completely color-blind basis, without using race as a factor in admission decisions......

colleges should not ask about race and should not require photographs.....

To point a finger of hypocrisy at Christians (who are still human and make mistakes, by the way) when progressive communistic liberals have no scruples whatsoever and don't even pretend to aspire to having any is almost comical.
If we all looked to God to meet our needs and heal our land and not big government, we'd be a lot better off. We might even start caring about each other again.
I still maintain it's not only a political battle but a spiritual battle in which we have found ourselves in the 21st century.
... and the reich wing is the arm of God?

So now you're claiming the money changers work with him?

Kinda makes your earlier claim of Jesus not being happy with them a lie, doesn't it?

... or does it mean you're the real liar here?

again, the proven false god of your cult with the worst morals ever? the one that condones slavery? the one that subjugates women, the one that says to kill those that don't believe as you do? the one that totally abondons his children if they don't praise him properly?(if he wants parenting tips, i am free...)

once again, you go back to your cult mantra about this supposed god that has been proven to be one of the worst moral guides on the planet.

ummm...no...there are thousands of earthquakes every day. 99.9% of all earthquakes are not even detetable without sensitive intruments.

why would it be bad to lubricate serious fault lines to let the slip just a bit instead of leting them build up pressure over centuries and then snapping with catastrophic effects

the headline is misleading......except to financial fools.....
the company had a small OPERATING profit because of cutbacks, but still has massive debt.....
Non-profit hospital chain Orlando Health reported its third positive financial quarter in a row on Friday, for the period ending March 31. Growth in income follows a rough mid-year in 2013 that saw cutbacks including pay cuts.
Orlando Health Inc. reported $26.6 million in net operating income for the latest quarter, the second of the company's 2014 financial year, according to dacbond.com , a site run by accounting company Digital Assurance Certification.
Orlando Health’s income was based on total operating revenue of $519 million and total operating expenses of just under $493 million for the quarter. In August of 2013, the company had been a target of protests over some pay cuts.
Revenue was up more than 6 percent, while expenses were up less than 4 percent compared with the same quarter in 2013. The hospital company reported a 2 percent decrease in its long-term debt, which still is hovering just over $1 billion.
meanwhile, the Orlando economy is on fire.....

Carol's post was bullsht__and Orlando Health is but one regional hospital group.

The Orlando region's economy is doing very nicely save for the homeless situation. Most have criminal records and come to Florida from elsewhere__because it's warmer and closer to the drugs.

Seems as though a new hospital opened in your town recently and also that the health care industry is lively__is Abbott still laying off?.

isn't this a long held theory that we may be able to 'lubricate' the faults to prevent major quakes? now ,i am not into injecting poisonous chemicals into our ground but perhaps we have stumbled onto some great catastrophy mitigating technique here?
"Lubricate the faults"

You really need to stick to driving trucks. Or spreading mulch. Because you're clueless about the geology involved with these injection well quakes. There are far more than are reported by drillers, and regulators are on the take in most places, esp. PA.

Your ignorance concerning the dangers posed by hydraulic fracking puts you with the likes of Nobraina. That is to say, maximum stupidity.

Not yet. The employer mandate was delayed until...wait for it...after the elections. Remember?

Plenty of other people who did sign up are paying higher deductibles and premiums though.

Not sure how those who couldn't afford it are doing health-wise these days.

Probably free clinic waiting rooms are already filling up.

The increased demand in paying deductibles before seeing a physician or receiving treatment is a direct result of the ACA.
Insured workers with a deductible of $1,000 or more for single coverage jumped to 34% in 2012 from 12% in 2007.
High deductible plans rose to 15.5 million in 2013 from 1 million in 2005. Deductibles are now as high as $3000.
To think a major upheaval in the health care system under Obama's "legacy" law isn't directly responsible for this is shortsighted.
in many ObamaKKKare policies, the entire bill is deductible and there is effectively no insurance coverage.....

so it is natural and expected for doctors and hospitals to be cautious about newly "insured" patients with marginal credit histories.....particularly when the treatment is non-emergency.....

most physicians request the deductible when the patient checks in for the office visit....cash, check, or credit card accepted.....
