That's not true... I've been watching pretty carefully and you focus on your CV pretty much exclusively, whenever you're not deriding someone else's that is. This does not make you an accomplished thinker, rather this makes you a drone who actually believes that the shit he memorized at SIU 40 years ago somehow prepared him to assume his vaunted place in the 21st century as an esteemed educator. Well think again, chubby...

If you would like a microcosm to look at which demonstrates the power of class warfare, just look at Venezuela. There are LOTS of monied interests at work there because Venezuela has oil. It also has a democratically elected, socialist government. To listen to the oil interests, the current leaders have impoverished the people and ruined the country. But the truth is quite different. Venezuela's poor are at least holding their own now but they are being stymied in this effort by the capitalist oil interests arrayed against them... trying desperately to force the working classes back into line. It's just a smaller, easier to see version of what's happening in the US.
When are you moving to Venezuela?

Nonsense. In case I didn't explain it clearly enough, Karl Marx was the father of Marxism, put simply. He was one guy with a helper who had an idea and thought it might help a lot of people. Turns out he didn't think it through sufficiently. But there are places that treat the evolved form of Marxism, socialism, with great affection. In these places the tall trees have been cut down and the good of the many is primary, while not overlooking the relative good of the few. It's a subtle difference but a critical one. Scandinavia, Canada, they are places where the urgency to "succeed" or "win," has been replaced by an overall commitment to a good and peaceful life for everyone. But here in the US were are still burdened with the masses of greedy lying little bastards trying to grab as much stuff as they can before somebody else gets it. All we can do is work to erase these misfits.

All I am going to say is that I do not hold your misty eyed fondness for that system.

All countries who have attempted have eventually failed. Time will tell if these countries will make it work but Canada is NOT as pure socialism as you are applying.

nutjob's favorite site says....

Wisconsin is a heavily Democratic state and under GOP Gov. Scott Walker, unemployment is just 3.5%, Rush Limbaugh says

Although Wisconsin has voted for the Democratic nominee in the last seven presidential contests, as a frequent battleground state, it is far from being an automatic in the Democratic column. At the state level, meanwhile, Wisconsin is currently Republican red but was recently Democratic blue, and by other measures it is somewhere between the two.

As for unemployment under Walker, it has dropped to near 6 percent, but nowhere near 3.5 percent.

We rate Limbaugh’s statement False.

man wasn't created, we evolved. and all the facts show we are the least selfish. no other species takes care of their weak, old and lame like we do. no other species shows the compassion for others that we do.

why are all your observations of the real world so totally wrong? or are you just parroting what others said again?

you really should try to think. you won't post such obviously wrong comments as much... or at least you can say you tried. you are obviously pretty stupid, so maybe thinking won't help in your case;

The Republican Party's war on representative government

They're just lousy people:

Important swing states under Republican control are embracing significant new electoral restrictions on registering and voting that go beyond the voter identification requirements that have caused partisan brawls.

The bills, laws and administrative rules — some of them tried before — shake up fundamental components of state election systems, including the days and times polls are open and the locations where people vote.

Republicans in Ohio and Wisconsin this winter pushed through measures limiting the time polls are open, cutting into weekend voting favored by low-income voters and blacks, who sometimes caravan from churches to polls on the Sunday before election.

The Republicans trot out their zombie lies about voter fraud, but the reality is that the more people vote, the more Republicans lose. They're a demographic dead end, and they know that even their extreme gerrymandering isn't enough to save them. Their only option is to disenfranchise people, and make it harder for people to participate in representative government. Particularly low-income people. Particularly African American people.

digby:

I wonder if there are any other legitimate democracies in the world that are actively trying to make voting more difficult?

Republicans don't believe in democracy. Republicans are at war with democracy. Democracy threatens everything that Republicans have become.

so, nutjobs, since anytime i post a something from a conservative site that doesn't follow along with the tea party cult lesson plan and it's called left wing by the lemmings, what does it matter who i cite?

so don't even try to blow me shit about my sources. i don't care anymore so i'll just ignore you if you start crying about it.
