For one thing Carol, I didn't call you a liar, I simply inquired about your source. If I call you a liar I'm not going to be coy about it.
The al-Shifa facility was targeted based on the discovery of EMPTA, a precursor in the manufacture of VX nerve gas, in a soil sample taken from the plant during a CIA clandestine operation. I'll grant that this evidence wasn't as conclusive as it should have been. But you have to stop defending GWB who used much shakier and even fabricated evidence in his justification for invading Iraq.
The operation also struck Al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan so your assertion that Clinton did nothing in response to the attacks on our embassies is false. You're still a liar as far as that goes.
Military operations aren't fixed around Congress's schedule, they're planned in advance. The outcome of the House vote was pretty much a slam dunk and the bombings would have had no effect on it whatsoever. The Iraqis weren't cooperating. It was suspected that they were hiding prohibited materials off site in areas they claimed were not covered by the inspection agreement. Again if you're going to go on that track you have to stop defending GWB when he abruptly pulled inspectors from Iraq before they had finished their work so that he could proceed with his invasion.
The sanctions imposed on Iraq didn't come from Clinton Carol; they came from the UN and were put in place in 1990 before he became president. That's one huge lie.
The perceived weakness started when Reagan pulled out of Lebanon after the attacks on the Marine barracks there.

Michelle Obama and her daughters have embarked on yet another vacation, this time to the Republic of China. This time Mrs. Obama has also brought her mother along. The hotel where they are staying has experienced a number of confusions with their party as well as many complaints.
It seems that the Obama party has had issues with the First Lady’s mother yelling at some of the staff of the hotel. There also seems to be an issue with some of the Secret Service staff that has accompanied the ladies on this trip.
Many of the Secret Service staff are Asian-American and this is causing many guests to mistake them for natives. Guests have complained that these agents have been blocking them from their rooms, elevators, as well as even entering or exiting the hotel at specific times.
The sheer size of the Obama party is also quite overwhelming. This is also making for some tensions when the First Lady and her daughters are moving about the country. This entourage is also making it quite difficult for higher paying guests at the hotel to access their suites, which are adjacent to the Obama suite. No worry though, for the First Lady is in the process of planning her next vacation right now.

The Post article is basically he said, he said and evidence of nothing. The fact remains that when Rep Frank learned that Gobie was running his little business out of Frank's townhouse he threw him out. There's never been any evidence that Rep Frank knew anything about the prostitution ring.
Frank himself asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate his relationship "in order to ensure that the public record is clear." The Committee found no evidence that Frank had known of or been involved in the alleged illegal activity and dismissed all Gobie's more scandalous claims; they recommended a reprimand for Frank using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets and for misstatements of fact in a memorandum relating to Gobie's criminal probation record. The House voted 408–18 to reprimand Frank.

Sure Carol keep spouting that crap about F&F causing the housing meltdown. If they were why did the same situation occur in England, Ireland and Iceland at the same time? F&F didn't make the toxic loans nitwit, they were made by unregulated mortgage brokers who bundled them up into mortgage backed securities and sold them before they started to stink. The largest buyers were not F&F but large financial institutions like Lehman Brothers.
And just what party was opposed to regulating and overseeing the mortgage backed securities market?
That would be the GOP.
Really idiot?

2003 -

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 — The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac , the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

The new agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would exercise authority over any new lines of business. And it would determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their ballooning portfolios.

What was that about a certain party blocking oversight?

Nobody gave Barney Frank a pass liar. The vote in the House to reprimand him was 408-18, so most Democrats voted for the reprimand. So what did Republicans do when it was discovered that David Vitter was involved with prostitution? Nothing! They forgave him.

Larry Craig was pressured to resign by his own party just because his conduct was questionably unseemly. Barney Frank should have been pressured to resign by his own party because his conduct was without question unseemly. That was the point I was trying to make yesterday.
Republicans are pressured to step down or resign for even minor alleged offenses of misconduct by their own party.
I can't think of one Democrat who was forced to resign or step down by members of their own party for outrageous alleged offenses of misconduct.
The double standard and hypocrisy is almost unbearable.
Good morning, Galt.
Does the name Anthony Wiener ring a bell Carol? On June 11, 2011, Nancy Pelosi, DCCC Steve Israel, and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz called for Weiner's resignation. Other Democrats who wanted him to resign were Representatives Allyson Schwartz (PA), Mike Ross (AR), Mike Michaud (ME), Niki Tsongas (MA), Larry Kissell (NC) and Joe Donnelly (IN).
Do your homework before you make statements that show that you're either ignorant or a liar.
