A statement by President Barack Obama has been given the dubious honor of “Lie of the Year” with a rating of “Pants on Fire” by the Tampa Bay Times’ Politifact.

“If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” the president said, over and over again, while trying to sell Americans on the Affordable Care Act before it was enacted. It was a comforting promise to those concerned that the government would force unwanted changes on their health insurance plans.

“But the promise was impossible to keep,” Politifact said in its announcement.

Cancellation letters sent to four million Americans notifying them that under Obamacare they could not in fact, keep their health insurance prompted the president to issue a rare apology.

The Pinocchio Test

The administration is defending this pledge with a rather slim reed — that there is nothing in the law that makes insurance companies force people out of plans they were enrolled in before the law passed. That explanation conveniently ignores the regulations written by the administration to implement the law. Moreover, it also ignores the fact that the purpose of the law was to bolster coverage and mandate a robust set of benefits, whether someone wanted to pay for it or not.
The president’s statements were sweeping and unequivocal — and made both before and after the bill became law. The White House now cites technicalities to avoid admitting that he went too far in his repeated pledge, which, after all, is one of the most famous statements of his presidency.
The president’s promise apparently came with a very large caveat:“If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan — if we deem it to be adequate.”

Windsor Ontario news
The unrelenting snow and cold temperatures experienced in Windsor this winter have city road crews prioritizing a variety of calls, and city officials say that means some requests for service aren’t being met within the usual amount of time.

“We want residents to know we’ve heard them, we care about their concerns, and that we appreciate the patience they’re showing” said Acting Executive Director of Operations Mark Winterton.

Heavy snowfalls followed by freezing temperatures have left windrows and ruts on some city side streets. That, combined with a lack of traffic and the prevalence of on-street parking, has limited the success plows and salt have been able to achieve officials say.

Along with snow challenges, maintenance crews have also been dividing their time on potholes, drainage and eeling this winter.

“We’re forced to prioritize calls: safety calls are obviously our main concern and that would involve things like sightline issues or major potholes, and then we deal with property calls were flooded basements could be involved, and finally when time permits we try to do more on the windrows and ruts. We are hoping for a sustained thawing period to help us out with the snow and ice” said Winterton.

The Public Works Department is asking residents for patience and to call 311 where safety is an issue.

The City of Windsor, Ontario has sound financial management, a very low debt burden and healthy budget performance according to the latest credit rating update by Standard & Poor’s.

S&P’s Ratings Services has affirmed its issuer credit and senior unsecured debt ratings for the City of Windsor as ‘AA,’ and says the outlook is stable.

“Consistent affirmation from S&P in recent years is a testament to the hard work and financial prudence of both City Council and our municipal administration,” says Mayor Eddie Francis.

S&P says the ratings reflect their assessment of the city’s “very low debt burden, very positive liquidity, healthy budgetary performance, and positive management. The rating also reflects the city’s economy, which, although improving, has a relatively higher industry concentration in the manufacturing sector.”

S&P says “Windsor demonstrates sound financial management, which has a positive impact on its credit profile.”

And that explains the cuts to veteran pensions while the IRS got bonuses, moron. That also explains why Obama spent more money blocking veterans from visiting the memorial than it would have cost to keep it open during that Democrat government "shutdown" that never happened.
Perhaps you would prefer that we cutting troop benefits instead.

The only thing that Congress did was curb the annual pension increases for military retirees under age 62. "Starting Dec. 1, 2015, cost-of-living adjustments for pensions of people under 62 would be modified to equal inflation minus 1 percent; then at 62, retirees would receive a "catch-up" increase that would restore their pensions to reflect levels as if the cost-of-living adjustment had been the full consumer price index in all previous years."

FACT: "Someone who enters the military at age 18 and stays 20 years starts drawing pension checks worth half their base salary immediately at age 38 -- rather than having to wait until their 60s -- and gets the payments for life."

.......... Calories in bold print, added sugar amounts and realistic serving sizes may soon be portrayed on food labels aimed at fighting America's obesity epidemic, First Lady Michelle Obama said Thursday.

No more would a serving of ice cream be described as a half cup, or a single packaged muffin be labeled as two servings, according to the proposed changes.

Instead, more than 700,000 products would undergo the most significant labeling revamp in two decades to help consumers make healthier choices and save billions in medical costs from chronic diseases that arise from poor eating.

"This will be the new norm in providing consumers with information about the food we buy and eat," Obama said at a White House event. "So this is a huge deal."

The final format of what the First Lady described as the "label of the future" has not been formally decided upon, through two draft versions were unveiled at the White House.

FACT - You forgot to mention millions more Americans live in poverty, typical household incomes have not kept pace with inflation, and the federal debt is up nearly 90 percent and on pace to double before he leaves office. You also failed to mention the FACT that the number of people on food stamps is at record levels, the FACT Obama lied repeatedly in order to assure the passage of his 'signature' legislation, the FACT he continues to usurp the Constitution by changing the ACA to benefit his cronies, unions, and donors and has continually lied about the IRS involvement in stifling the progress of his political opponents. FACT - Barack Hussein Obama has NOT honored the Presidential Oath of Office.

"There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth's atmosphere over the past 100 years," said Moore, who was testifying before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight.

"If there were such a proof, it would be written down for all to see. No actual proof, as it is understood in science, exists."

If these hypocrites actually cared about nutrition, medical costs, and ¨helping consumers¨ a so-called huge deal would be new SNAP regulations where soda, candy, cookies, snack crackers, and ice cream are NOT eligible items.

You obviously need to be reminded of the lies that you've swallowed from Mendacious Mitt;
He claimed, repeatedly, that President Obama has increased the national debt "more than all ois investment and concluded that the Administration had steered money to friends and family and campaign contributors."
There's just one problem with that statement: It's a lie.
No inspector general ever "concluded" such a thing, at least not based on any written reports or public statements.
Mitt stated; “That stimulus he [President Obama] put in place — it didn’t help private sector jobs, it helped preserve government jobs. And the one place we should have shut back — or cut back — was on government jobs. We have 145,000 more government workers under this president. Let’s send them home and put you back to work.”— Mitt Romney, in Craig, Colo.,

You, you uneducated blathering drone. Every budget passed during Bush';s tenure was passed with bi partisan support, unlike the criminal Il Duce's continuing resolutions and his trillion dollar deficits. gawd you're stupid.
