Why Volkswagen is helping a union organize its own plant

The German company is campaigning for the UAW, not against it, in a kind of employer-union partnership America has seldom seen. What gives?

Well, VW is kind of different, as automakers go. It understands how having a union can boost productivity and allow it greater flexibility in adjusting to downturns. It should know: The rest of its plants are unionized too.

No, they won't. There are other factors besides taxation. US may have one of the highest tax rates but also has a slew of tax dodges. In 2013, the average effective tax rate paid for larger corporations was 12.5%.

So, you think we should subsidize companies for investing in foreign countries instead of here in the US?

Canada is practically begging this administration to build that pipeline. It is being used as a political ploy by Obama and his fellow politically-motivated cronies.
It will create many jobs over the long haul and Obama knows it. He's just waiting until it's politically advantageous before the election to do what's best for America now.
But it's always about was is politically advantageous, isn't it? Instead of what is best for America? And being honest with Americans?

Yes, they go the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Cypress. Look what happened to Cypress because the Russian oligarchs were avoiding taxes? Look what happened to Greece because the wealthy didn't pay taxes?
yet, as has been pointed out to you many times. the wealthy pay the bulk of the taxes in the US. your beautiful country would not exist as it is without them. you would not be able to pay your fair share for your nation without them carrying you along...

CNN's Van Jones says Keystone pipeline only creates 35 permanent jobs

The numbers, as reported by the State Department, back him up, though that’s the nature of any big construction project, be it a highway or monument.

Jones’ claim is True.

From Orwell's "Animal Farm"....
“Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure. On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?”- Squealer
(Squealer represented Pravda, a propaganda-ridden Russian newspaper.)
Old Major, the old boar who represented Lenin, summoned all of the animals to assemble in the barn to relay a message. The message was simple: all animals are equal.
In Orwell's own words:
“Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism; Animal Farm was the first book in which I tried, with full consciousness of what I was doing, to fuse political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole.”-George Orwell
Right now we have a boar with the same message as Old Major and a media with the same propaganda as Squealer. Orwell is probably rolling over in his grave.
Old Major was a horse whose heroism was a reflection of many. I think I could die happy if just once you got something right...never gonna' happen.

Don't try this at home.

While we may not be able to stare at the surface of the sun, that doesn't stop the instruments aboard NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory from capturing stunning views of our nearest star.

This video shows coronal loops shooting off the surface of the sun, and was taken over a two-day period earlier this month. Coronal loops are "arcs of plasma often larger than the entire Earth that surge along the sun's powerful magnetic field lines," according to Bill Dunford of the Planetary Society.

NASA reports that the loops can last for days or even weeks. The temperature around the coronal loops reaches about 1.8 million degrees Fahrenheit, Dunford says.

The video was taken in extreme ultraviolet light, according to NASA.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory is a satellite that's in orbit around the Earth, with sensors pointed at the sun to take a variety of measurements of the sun and its associated solar activity.

One of the mission's goals is to see how the sun's magnetic field is generated and structured, and how it impacts life on Earth and our telecommunications systems.

The White House sprang into action on Tuesday and defended the minimum wage increase as a function of helping millions of lower-class Americans make ends meet. Jason Furman, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Betsey Stevenson, Council of Economic Advisers member wrote on the official White House website (emphasis added)
“Overall the logic for the finding that raising the minimum wage does not result in large adverse impacts on employment is that paying workers a better wage can improve productivity and thereby reduce unit labor costs. These adjustments, along with others that firms can make, help explain why the increase in the minimum wage need not lead to a reduction in employment. Higher wages lead to lower turnover, reducing the amount employers must spend recruiting and training new employees. Paying workers more can also improve motivation, morale, focus, and health, all of which can make workers more productive. In addition, by reducing absenteeism, higher wages can increase the productivity of coworkers who depend on each other or work in teams. In addition, businesses can adjust in other ways rather than reducing employment (for example, by accepting lower profit margins). CBO’s estimates do not appear to fully reflect the increased emphasis on all of these factors from the recent economics literature.”
In short: businesses are going to have to adapt to the change in minimum wage by suffering a drop in profits.
However, profits are what drives this economy. Profits are what allows businesses to expand, to hire, to innovate, to offer voluntary raises to maintain skilled personnel. The arrogance of this administration that dismisses the plight of business owners is astounding.
We are in a class war with the left. Obama and his other radical socialists are apparently willing to sell businesses down the river in order to push their “remedy” for income inequality.
