Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents
Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)
Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)
Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents
The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations

A West Virginia man who deputies say had a large number of weapons shot and killed two men over the weekend and then wrongly told police that they were trespassing on his property.

According to The Herald-Dispatch, 62-year-old Rodney Bruce Black called 911 on Saturday to say that he had shot brothers Garrick Hopkins, 60, from the Milton area, and Carl Hopkins Jr., 61, because they were breaking into a shed on his property.

However, the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department determined that the shed had recently been purchased by Garrick Hopkins.

WCHS reported that Black pulled the trigger without giving any warning.

Deputies said that Black admitted to the shootings and he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was being held in the Western Regional Jail on Monday.

A large cache of weapons and ammunition was also seized from the suspect’s home by deputies

While House Republicans have obsessively voted to turn our health care system back over to insurance companies, that is far from the only damage they have inflicted on the people of this country. Their disastrous government shutdown -- which they launched to oppose the Affordable Care Act -- cost our economy $24 billion. They won't extend unemployment insurance for struggling Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own and who are looking for work -- all while they make sure that Big Oil gets its $40 billion in subsidies. They refuse to raise the minimum wage, while seeking maximum tax cuts for the rich. They have yet to pass anything that remotely resembles a jobs bill.

Those wrong priorities will come back to haunt them in November.

Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe rips Christian fundamentalists who want to turn U.S. into Iran

Fundamentalism is never a good thing in history,” he said.“Fundamentalism leads to really terrible things, and so my position has always been: I don’t have any problem whatsoever with religion, I have no problem whatsoever with whatever your beliefs are, all I care about are your actions. What do you actions say about you as a person? Because that is the only way any of us can ever judge each other.”

Kluwe warned that if fundamentalism was unchecked, the United States could see a form of government like the Iranian theocracy. He said that many Christian fundamentalists were “terrified” of Islamic Sharia law being imposed within the United States, yet wanted to turn the United States into a “Christian theocracy.”

“You can’t say no to this theocracy and then try to impose your own theocracy. That doesn’t make sense,” Kluwe remarked.

Mitt Romney clarifies Vladimir Putin comments

While he said he thinks it’s clear that Obama “has been outmaneuvered on the world stage” by Putin, the former Republican presidential candidate added that Putin is a “terrible president” and a “thug.”

“But by the way, President Putin is a terrible president,” Romney said.“He’s a thug. He’s killed, from what we can tell — I don’t know that I want to accuse him of killing — but there have been members of the media that have disappeared and opposition voices that disappeared and been put in jail and so forth.”

“This is not a good guy,” Romney added.“Our president’s a lot better president than President Putin, but it breaks my heart to watch President Putin outmaneuver him on the world stage.”

Really Carol? Who brings in even more money for the Republicans? Well, the Koch brothers, who want weaker environmental laws so that they can rape and pillages God's creation for profit without any thought to the effects they have on the rest of us. The Walton's who live in the lap of luxury while their employees are paid poverty level wages and have to rely on public assistance to make ends meet. Companies like Bank of America who want less oversight allowing them to screw over the American people.
Unions have the same rights to support whatever candidates and party they choose. At least with the unions they're fighting for working people and not against them like the Mitt Romney's of the world.
School voucher programs are a hoax that siphon taxpayer money to schools that have a largely religious agenda. Bobby Jindal and his DOE director John White's voucher program is a perfect example. The New Living Word voucher school was so blatantly fraudulent that even John White was forced to admit that it should not continue. But that did not prevent dozens of other highly questionable schools, as indicated by the recent state audit from continuing to pad their budgets using voucher money. New Living Word and others like it, demonstrate clearly that just giving parents a "choice" of what to do with our tax money is not anything close to school reform!
The Koch brothers, the Heritage Foundation, the DeVos (Amway) family, the Walton family (Walmart) and right-wing front groups have been behind the push for so-called choice schools. Now that several states, like Wisconsin, are controlled by the new far-right Republican Party, they are pushing vouchers as never before. And the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), of course, has provided the model legislation.
The choice movement not only views public schools as monopolies run by teachers unions, but a sizable faction disagrees with what's taught — evolution, the history of labor, sex education and other topics abhorred by the far right. And since they can't often get their way with publicly elected school boards, bolstering private schools where they can set the agenda with taxpayers' money is a dream come true.
It's just another example of the far right wanting to use taxpayer money to preach their agenda.
And Charter Schools as well, one after one they are closing down and absconding with the money. This whole voucher program is a scam; started by Jeb Bush. Another way to steal taxpayers money. Did the Bush family every have a legitimate business?

so? does it matter? who's in the WH? a republican?

and why didn't you explain why that's happening Mr. No Context?

The revisions are driven largely by rising tax revenue from individuals and corporations as the economy sputters back to life. They also reflect stronger contributions to U.S. Treasury coffers from government-run mortgage finance groups Fannie Mae (FNMA.OB) and Freddie Mac (FMCC.OB).

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/14/us-...

as the economy sputters back to life despite the republicans doing everything that they can to keep that from happening.

Obama To Raise Minimum Wage For Federal Contract Workers By Executive Order

President Barack Obama will announce during Tuesday night’s State of the Union address that he's raising the minimum wage for workers under federal contracts to $10.10 per hour, an administration official told The Huffington Post.

The new policy, to be instituted via executive order, may affect hundreds of thousands of workers whose jobs are supported by federal dollars. The move is designed in part to ratchet up pressure on Congress to pass legislation raising the minimum wage for all workers. The current federal minimum wage stands at $7.25 per hour, and hasn't been raised since 2009, after the last of a series of increases signed into law by then-President George W. Bush.

The new executive order is part of a broader pledge from the White House to pursue policies that don’t rely on congressional approval. What other policies are in the works, the administration has refused to say.

Obama will go on TV tonight and read from the teleprompter to promote Class Envy, cause except when they are giving him or his Dem friends campaign $$, he dislikes the “greedy rich.”

Money itself is not wealth. Otherwise the government could make us all rich just by printing more of it. From the standpoint of a society as a whole, money is just an artificial device to give us incentives to produce real things -- goods & services.

Those goods & services are the real "wealth of nations," as Adam Smith titled his treatise on economics in the 18th century. Yet when the intelligentsia discuss such things as the historic fortunes of people like John D. Rockefeller, they usually pay little -- if any -- attention to what it was that caused so many millions of people to voluntarily turn their individually modest sums of money over to Rockefeller, adding up to his vast fortune.

What Rockefeller did first to earn their money was find ways to bring down the cost of producing & distributing kerosene to a fraction of what it had been before his innovations. This profoundly changed the lives of millions of working people.

Too many discussions of large fortunes attribute them to "greed" as if wanting a lot of money is enough to cause other people to hand it over to you (a childish idea).

The transfer of money was a zero-sum process. What increased the wealth of society was Rockefeller's cheap kerosene that added hundreds of hours of light to people's lives annually. Many others also created unprecedented expansions of the lives of ordinary people. The individual fortunes represented a fraction of the wealth created.

Even those of us who create goods & services in more mundane ways receive income that may be very important to us, but it is what we create for others, with our widely varying capabilities, that is the real wealth of nations.

Intellectuals' obsession with income statistics calling envy "social justice" -- ignores vast differences in productivity that are far more fundamental to everyone's well-being. KILLING THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG HAS RUINED MANY ECONOMIES.

But hey, when you can’t talk about YOUR successes because you have ZERO, you drudge up envy amongst the other non-successful. It worked for DeBlasio in NYC & it will work for The Food Stamp president who enjoys adding to the dependent on government class.

Obammy would be thrilled if wealth was totally redistributed from the confiscation of all personal property. Equal outcome regardless of effort is his goal. Meanwhile, as with all Dems--he won't talk about the War on Marriage and Personal Responsibility that the Dems have been pushing for 50 years with disastrous results and a perpetual cycle of multi-generational poverty.
