Obama is just trying to get his loyal liberals to chase another squirrel so they won't start asking what's going on with their health care. Obediently, they will focus on that elusive squirrel and stare up the wrong tree until they hear the command to chase another one.

Natural gas locomotives may prove cheaper, cleaner

""The diesel-burning locomotive, the workhorse of American railroads since World War II, will soon begin burning natural gas — a potentially historic shift that could cut fuel costs, reduce pollution and strengthen the advantage railroads hold over trucks in long-haul shipping.

Rail companies want to take advantage of booming natural gas production that has cut the price of the fuel by as much as 50 percent. So they are preparing to experiment with redesigned engines capable of burning both diesel and liquefied natural gas.

Natural gas "may revolutionize the industry much like the transition from steam to diesel," said Jessica Taylor, a spokeswoman for General Electric's locomotive division, one of several companies that will test new natural gas equipment later this year.

Any changes are sure to happen slowly. A full-scale shift to natural gas would require expensive new infrastructure across the nation's 140,000-mile freight-rail system, including scores of fueling stations.

The change has been made possible by hydraulic fracturing drilling techniques, which have allowed U.S. drillers to tap into vast deposits of natural gas. The boom has created such abundance that prices dropped to an average of $3.73 per million British thermal units last year — less than one-third of their 2008 peak.

Over the past couple of years, cheap gas has inspired many utilities to turn away from coal, a move that hurt railroads' profits. And natural gas is becoming more widely used in transportation. More than 100,000 buses, trucks and other vehicles already run on it, although that figure represents only about 3 percent of the transportation sector.

The savings could be considerable. The nation's biggest freight railroad, Union Pacific, spent more than $3.6 billion on fuel in 2012, about a quarter of total expenses.""

I have Jewish friends who express exactly what you have just posted. They are embarrassed by the illegal Jewish settlements being built in occupied territories. They are embarrassed and angered by people like the Kvetch who have succeeded in turning people against Israel in ever growing numbers through their bigotry and hatred.

As far as calling her a "hebe". I think that is derogatory to the ancient Hebrews. She is in no way representative of Judaism. For that matter, she is not representative of any theology. She is represents the political ideology of radical Zionism. Plain and simple.

“Actually—and this was where I began to feel seriously uncomfortable—some such divine claim underlay not just 'the occupation' but the whole idea of a separate state for Jews in Palestine. Take away the divine warrant for the Holy Land and where were you, and what were you? Just another land-thief like the Turks or the British, except that in this case you wanted the land without the people. And the original Zionist slogan—'a land without a people for a people without a land'—disclosed its own negation when I saw the densely populated Arab towns dwelling sullenly under Jewish tutelage. You want irony? How about Jews becoming colonizers at just the moment when other Europeans had given up on the idea?”

If you have no REAL plan to improve the economy, the next best thing in Progressive/Lib Land is to take away from those who succeed and give to those who have no hope to succeed. That is Obama's ONLY PLAN.

January 22, 2014 - Economy/Jobs And Healthcare Are Top Voter Priorities, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Obama Gets Low Grades On Top Priorities

In an open-ended question, allowing for any answer, American voters list the economy/jobs and healthcare as their top priorities, two issues for which President Barack Obama gets low job approval ratings, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

Naming "the top priority for President Obama and Congress in 2014," 15 percent of voters say the economy, while 16 percent list jobs or unemployment, a total of 31 percent, while 18 percent list healthcare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. A total of 10 percent list the budget, the budget deficit, spending or other budget-related items. Another 4 percent list bi-partisanship or cooperation and 2 percent list education.

American voters give President Obama a negative 40 - 54 percent approval rating, compared to 41 - 53 percent January 8, and 38 - 57 percent December 10, indications that his plunge has leveled off.

But voters give Obama his lowest grades for their top priorities:

Negative 39 - 56 percent for his handling of the economy;
Negative 36 - 59 percent for his handling of healthcare;
Positive 48 - 41 percent for handling terrorism;
Negative 40 - 49 percent for foreign policy;
Negative 39 - 47 percent for handling Iran.

"'It's the economy, Mr. President,' say dissatisfied American voters who are not yet willing to give President Barack Obama a thumbs up on his presidency," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"If - and it's a big IF - the president can convince the American people that the economy is getting better and that Obamacare will be good for them, it will go a long way to rebuilding his sagging job approval ratings."

A total of 67 percent of American voters plan to watch President Obama deliver the State of the Union address January 28.

The economy is "not so good" or "poor," a total of 77 percent of voters say. Only 28 percent say the economy is getting better, while 26 percent say it is getting worse and 44 percent say it's the same.

The Obama administration is not competent running the government, voters say 53 - 42 percent. The president is paying attention to what his administration is doing, 45 percent say, while 47 percent say he is not paying attention.

The president's character measures remain low:

46 percent say he is honest and trustworthy and 49 percent say he is not;
49 percent say he is a strong leader and 48 percent say he is not;
51 percent say he cares about their needs and problems and 46 percent say he does not. Olympic Terrorism

A terrorist attack at the Winter Olympics is "very likely," 12 percent of voters say, while 38 percent say an attack is "somewhat likely." Another 26 percent say an attack is "somewhat unlikely," and 19 percent say "very unlikely."

"It's a chilling and troubling thought: half of Americans think a terror attack on the Winter Olympic Games is either likely or very likely," Malloy said.

From January 15 - 19, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,933 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, Colorado and the nation as a public service and for research.
