A federal judge ordered Ryan Loskarn to be released as he awaits a grand jury hearing over allegations that he possessed and distributed child pornography.
Loskarn, who was chief of staff to Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) until his arrest last week, will be released on his own recognizance and placed on “high intensity supervision” that will severely limit his activities.

At his press conference today Gov. Christie stated that before he went public with his initial denials around 4 weeks ago that his staff had nothing to do with creating a massive 4 day traffic jam in Ft. Lee, he asked two people to "interview each member of his senior staff" about any involvement in creating the traffic jam. Those two people were his Chief of Staff Kevin O-Dowd and his Chief Legal Counsel Charlie McKenna. They reported back to him that nobody on his senior staff had any information about the traffic jam.

But it turns out there's a document already released that show's that Charlie McKenna was almost certainly directly involved the in the scandal from the beginning.

Take a look at page 20 from the released documents. It involves a list of text messages sent back and forth between Bill Baroni and David Wildstein on November 25, 2013. The gist of the messages is that Baroni feels like he's not getting enough credit for his role in shutting down the local access lanes. Here is an excerpt:

[11/25/13 11:58 AM] David Wildstein: You did great
[11/25/13 11:59 AM] Bill Baroni (6094687069): Trenton feedback
[11/25/13 11:59 AM] Bill Baroni (6094687069):?
[11/25/13 11:59 AM] David Wildstein: Good

[11/25/13 11:59 AM] Bill Baroni (6094687069): Just good? Shit
[11/25/13 12:00 PM] David Wildstein: No I have only texted brudget and Nicole they were VERY happy
[11/25/13 12:00 PM] Bill Baroni (6094687069): Ok
[11/25/13 12:00 PM] David Wildstein: Both said you are doing great
[11/25/13 12:06 PM] David Wildstein: Charlie said you did GREAT

Notice the last line. "Charlie said you did GREAT."

Who is Charlie? The only senior staff member with that name is Charles McKenna, Gov. Christie's Chief Legal Counsel (they go all the way back together to the US Attorney's office). The same "Charlie" McKenna who Christie stated today was one of the two people who interrogated his staff and assured him nobody was involved.

Except, of course, there is real evidence showing that "Charlie" was well aware of this scandal as far back as Nov. 25, 2013 and likely much earlier.

It's too bad the press is sleeping on this potential smoking gun. If this goes all the way to Christie's longtime friend and Chief Legal Counsel it's nearly impossible to believe that Christie had no knowledge of his staff's involvement until yesterday morning.

Just now Rachel Maddow had a very explosive revelation. The lane closures of the George Washington Bridge in Ft Lee had NOTHING to do with the mayor. Rather it was an attack against the Democratic Senate Minority leader Loretta Weinberg who represents Ft Lee. The same Loretta Weinberg who Chris Christie said a month ago was 'fixated' on this and obviously had 'nothing better to do.'

The reasons and ramifications below the swamp squiggle.

Turns out Loretta Weinberg and the Democrats were blocking some nominees to the State Supreme Court by Christie. The genesis of this was Christie not renominating an African American to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court and instead yanking him off when his 7 year term was up. The first time this was done supposedly in NJ State history.

But this approach isn't about Christie's ego per se. It's about Christie's freedom. As a former prosecutor - one who put many, many Democratic lawmakers into the dock for "public malfeasance" - he knows exactly what his legal stakes are. That is why he must reiterate the "I knew nothing" apologia front, center and always. "I knew nothing about this until I saw it on my iPad on Wednesday morning at 8:50 AM.'"

What are some of the legal consequences Christie knows he faces? Additional details after the squiggle.

"What's the big deal over some traffic jams?" many comments on news boards read. The writers describe the staff actions as a "prank," the result of a "frat atmosphere," or some other high-spirited staff attitudes. The major thrust of these comments is always,"So Fort Lee had some gridlock for a few days...what's the big deal?"

The "big deal" is that the emails reveal that those writing or receiving them - Bridget Kelley, David Wildstein, Port Authority Chairman David Samson (a Christie appointee), Michael Drewniak (Christie's press secretary) and Bob Stepian (Christie's campaign manager)- all appear to be guilty of breaking both New Jersey and Federal statutes. The starting list of start of the potential charges include official misconduct, interference with transportation, risk of causing widespread injury, and criminal coercion, including both state and Federal statutes. Penalties are magnified by the Patriot Act, because the Port Authority is under a heightened state of alert. These could even be prosecuted as "terrorist acts," considering that the period of time this covered was over the 9/11 anniversary. Any punishments would therefore technically be of a higher degree.

Christie has to cut himself loose from the sinking ships of these five, or be dragged under with them. He's already "disassociated" himself from Kelley and Stepian. Most importantly, he also has to create a plausible scenario in which he was completely ignorant of the actions that are prosecutable. Legally, it doesn't matter if Christie was the originator of the idea, or even had knowledge of it beforehand. If, at any time before 8:50 yesterday morning, Chris Christie had any knowledge of the cause of this event, or the subsequent cover-up that his office arranged, he is guilty of felony conspiracy on many charges. If he did not come forward to proper authorities as soon as he learned of this behavior, he is guilty of misprision of a felony. Conviction on any one of these charges in a court of law would mean criminal sanctions. He would lose his license to practice law. Any of these are also impeachable offenses.

Christie is familiar with some of the applicable laws in this case because he prosecuted so many New Jersey politicians under them. His targets ranged from school board members to Sharpe James, the Newark Mayor of decades' standing. Christie ran for Governor in 2009 on the basis of his prosecutorial success - 130 convictions, zero acquittals - almost all of them Democrats. He got convictions for most of them on the basis of the statute against "official misconduct" in the New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice regarding "obstruction of a government function", the New Jersey Official Misconduct Law.

Boom. From The Daily News:

Later Thursday, news emerged that the FBI had joined the growing list of government bodies, which also includes the U.S. attorney's office and a New Jersey state transportation committee, that are investigating the matter.
...

The Port Authority and the New Jersey state legislature are also probing the traffic nightmare, which raised questions about Christie's reputation for political payback and his White House hopes for 2016.

A class action lawsuit was also filed Thursday in Newark Federal Court against Christie and the state, with six Fort Lee residents charging they were “deprived of life, liberty and property” by the shutdown.

http://www.nydailynews.com/ ...
Also today, Rachel Maddow released, via twitter, a letter that the Office of Emergency Medical services sent to the mayor of Fort Lee during the lane-shutdown:

It is heartbreaking.

Mr. Christie, a Republican, complained in a private phone call to Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, that Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was pressing too hard to get to the bottom of why the number of toll lanes onto the bridge from Fort Lee, N.J. was cut from three to one in early September, according to this person. The lane closures occurred without notice to local authorities, officials have said, and snarled traffic for a week in the small borough on the Hudson River bluffs.

According to the WSJ story, that phone call was the week of December 12.
Yeah. Kind of makes Christies little press "performance piece" this morning look like the firehose of lies that it actually was.

Among the mounting stream of evidence that shows Christie knew damn well what was going on, this one would seem to be the final nail in the coffin.

And it's very easily proven ... if Governor Cuomo has the backbone to be a proper partisan and put his boot on Christie's neck.

He doesn't have to do it personally. Heck, the WSJ would be HAPPY to report the facts if they just got the nod ... they're the ones with the connections to "a person familiar with the matter," which by the sound of it has to be someone in Cuomo's office anyway.

Ball is in your court, Andy. End Christie's political career.
