What's your impression of Putin's message to the world on New Year's Eve?
Sorry but I don't go for revisionists history.

Let's start with the failed U.S. forces raid to kidnap lead terrorist Mohammed Farrah Aidid in Somalia. While their original mission was peace-keeping and protect U.N. workers distributing food, mission creep morphed the mission into an active, let's take sides mission, small scale nation building. Kidnapping a militia leader is not a peace keeping mission.

Remember, one person's terrorists is anothers freedom fighter. On you take sides, prepare for combat, as you are no longer a peace-keeper.

as for all that crap about President Clinton having and letting go Osama bin Laden, its all crap. We didn't even realize Al Qaeda,(Arabic for "The Base") was an organization until 98 after Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda took credit for the African Embassy bombings. Up until that point we thought of it as a physical location.

Until then, we had no knowledge that Osama bin Laden had attacked U.S. assets and forces. So that so called deal with Sudan to turn over Osama, we a country where the rule of law used to be adhered to, had nothing to prosecute him for.

Counter Terrorism was identified as the biggest threat to the U.S. under Clinton and became the primary focus of our intel community, law enforcement and military. The Clinton administration tried to brief the incoming Bush administration but the latter refused to meet with the principles.

Under AG Ashcroft, counter terrorism was relegated to secondary importance. The evangelical minister Ashcroft thought illegal drugs and prostitution were a bigger threat. Hence that 40 man, 24/7 stakeout of a New Orleans brothel that was on-going during the attacks of 9/11.

As for Iraq, try reading George H.W. Bush & Brent Scowcroft's op-ed on why they didn't take out Saddam at the end of Gulf War I. he pretty much predicted what would happen, did.

http://www.millat.com/ghalibcom/events/iraq98...

Taking out Saddam had the same result of what happened in Yugoslavia when Tito died. Decades of oppression by the Sunni minority over the majority Shia could only end in civil war. Being that Iran is Shia and has backed the Iraqi Shiites could also have one result-Iran having great influence in Iraqi politics.

The situation is only going to continue to get worse in Iraq. No amount of troops is gonna change that. It will only result in a drain on our national treasury and more Americans being killed, maimed for life and wounded.

Accept reality.

The way Prins saw it, that meant health insurance via Medicaid is hardly “free” for Washington residents 55 or older. It’s a loan, one whose payback requirements aren’t well advertised. And it penalizes people who, despite having a low income, have managed to keep a home or some savings they hope to pass to heirs, Prins said

Consider this;

First your side whines about all the 'free' healthcare given to poorer folks.

Then some Gov'ts, like WA, figure out a way to get some of the taxpayers money back, and you whine.

Is there anything you won't whine about??

And, what do you think about Putin's' message to the world saying he was going to annihilate Islamist terrorists this year? Do you think he's serious? Working people are those who don't get run off because they can't show up for work every goddam day on goddam time and they do what they're paid to do while they're at work. Anyone who did this could afford what health insurance cost before the Democrats forced their Marxist ObamaKare on everyone. Oh, yeah. Spending you rmoney drinking and gambling in all the road-side casinos doesn't count as not being able to afford health care.
In short, yes, everyone who can be called "working people" could afford health insurance for their family. ObamaKare changed that.
You can keep the change.
But you claim businesses can't afford to pay more than minimum wage. Now you claim people who work minimum wage are unable to show up at work.

Then you claim these people can buy health insurance.

More proof you have no clue what health insurance costs buying as individuals.

Is there anything you actually know anything about besides mooching off subsidies?

Quit misrepresenting what Realtime said.

Bush screwed up big time by ignoring the devastation of Katrina.

Polls verified this repeatedly. Even Bush admitted he mishandled the 'flyover'. Even today, Katrina is considered by historians to be one of Bush's bigger mistakes as President.

That and 'Good job, Brownie', were major screw-ups.

But you'd rather come here and tell lies.

Did you see this, Lily? An NBC World News report?

"An official report released by the NHS this week found that thousands of Britons may have died unnecessarily because of poor care.

"It said that failing NHS hospitals are 'trapped in mediocrity' and named 11 hospitals in desperate need of improvement. Moreover, one member of the investigating panel said that the facilities named were not even the worst in the country."

American lives are not worth the risk...
Do you every think before you post? Would you condone the killing of American prisoners of war just because they are considered "rabid dogs" who threaten the lives of those whom they have been sent to kill? We are the ones who captured these men. We are the ones who moved them away from their homeland and imprisoned them in Guantanamo Bay. As the idiom goes..."As you make your bed, so you must lie in it."

The Obama Administration has been working tirelessly to find "another government" to take OUR problem "detainees". Funny how you people didn't hesitate to slam the United Nations in support of Bush's war but now expect these NATO nations to take OUR prisoners.

Eight prisoners have been moved since August, including two Saudis and two Algerians who returned to their countries in December. Just a couple of days ago, the final 3 of the 22 Uigher Muslim prisoners from China were transferred from Guantanamo Bay to Slovakia. In the past, Slovakia has taken three detainees from Egypt, Tunisia and Azerbaijan. Two of whom returned to their native lands.

These three Uigher Muslim prisoners had languished at Guantanamo for more than a decade since their capture in Pakistan after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — despite the fact that in 2008, "a federal judge ruled that the Uighurs were being held unlawfully and ordered their release. Their transfer was delayed by legal wrangling and failed attempts to find a country willing to accept them."

1. Space tourism
Virgin Galactic is scheduled to become the first private commercial “spaceliner” to blast tourists into space, with an inaugural trip in 2014 carrying its founder, Sir Richard Branson. Branson and his children, Holly and Sam, will lift off on SpaceShipTwo from the Spaceport America in New Mexico.
Beyond 2014, a handful of private companies are also racing to bring tourists to space, including the ambitious Mars One colony trip to the red planet and Space Adventures’ trip to the moon.
2. Wearable tech
Ok, Glass. Show us the future. Google is expected to ship its groundbreaking augmented-reality glasses to the public in 2014, expanding the wearable tech market.
Smartwatches like Samsung’s Galaxy Gear watch and the Pebble Smartwatch will continue to be more useful as developers create more apps for the devices. Health-tracking devices like the Nike Fuel Band, Jawbone Up and Fitbit Force will continue to drive the health technology marketplace into the mainstream.
3. Internet of things
At the 2013 IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, technology company Philips demonstrated a concept called the HomeCooker Next that could time cooking, change temperature and stir food -- using a smartphone. The Nest thermostat not only can control your home’s temperature remotely, it also learns your behavior and makes adjustments accordingly.
The networking of our physical world will continue to boom in 2014. Connected devices are no longer just limited to smartphones and computers. Everything from door locks and home appliances to bikes and watches can now be networked.
4. Robots on the rise
Will the machines become self-aware in 2014? We certainly hope not, but advancing technology in robotics and artificial intelligence are definitely on the rise.
Google acquired a portfolio of incredible robots with its purchase of Boston Dynamics in 2013, including the Cheetah, Petman and Atlas, making spectators wonder what the tech giant has planned for the machines.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is challenging robot-makers to address the need for rescue workers in dangerous emergency response situations. The DARPA robotics challenge is underway and will have finals happening at the end of 2014. Winners will receive a $2 million prize.
5. Machines in the sky
Keep an eye on the sky in 2014 because unmanned aerial vehicles – or drones – are about to become a big part of the airspace.
Amazon made a big splash when CEO Jeff Bezos on “60 Minutes” revealed plans for a drone that would deliver packages in 30 minutes. But a handful of other drones garnered attention in 2013, including drones that could deliver beer at a festival and pizza to a home in the United Kingdom.
In 2013, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released its first annual roadmap to address concerns that are arising with the increased use of drones in American airspace, paving the way for clear regulations of the flying devices. The FAA recently announced the locations of six drone test sites in the United States, setting the stage for what could be the next booming industry.
