WEST MONROE, La.(CBS Houston)- The stars of “Duck Dynasty” are now in discussions with A&E trying to determine if there will be a future for the hit show.

The Robertsons released a statement Thursday thanking fans for their support and prayers, but stated that they can’t have a show without the patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, who was suspended indefinitely from the show over saying homosexuality is illogical in a GQ article.

“We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right,” the statement read.“We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of ‘Duck Dynasty.’”

The statement also noted that they are a family that is “rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word” and that Robertson is a “Godly man.”

“While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible,” the statement read.“Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments:‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate.”

Despite his beliefs, the Duck Commander founder says he doesn’t judge others.

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job,” Robertson told GQ.“We just love ‘em, give ‘em the good news about Jesus – whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ‘em out later.”

Last night, Stephen Colbert came to the defense of embattled reality television star Phil Robertson.

“This is a terrible day for Americans,” Colbert said.“But admittedly, a pretty good day for ducks.”

“Why did A&E A-and-axe him?” he asked.“Because this good Christian man spoke his mind to GQ about the gays.”

After quoting Robertson’s remarks about preferring “vaginas” to “a man’s anus” because “there’s more there,” Colbert admits that “it’s not the eloquent speech you might expect from a backwoods Louisiana bird-murderer.”

He then went on to discuss Robertson’s views on race, which include his remarks about having grown in the pre-Jim Crow era, when “no [black people] were singing the blues.”

“For Pete’s sake,” Colbert said,“they got their own water fountain. In fact, they had it so good, white people pretended to be them.”

Creating instability and chaos is our problem, not his. Goes back to the disconnect.

We're where we are because of our disconnect. "We thought he was the messiah."

Your side started this disrespecting of the POTUS with Bush by calling him boy.
It is political speech at this point.
What part of "when referring to a black man" don't you get.

Using the term "boy" in reference to a black man is a racial slur.

Is Bush black? No

My God you are dumber than sh*t.

WASHINGTON — Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader, was hospitalized Friday after falling ill in the morning, his office said.

Mr. Reid, who just turned 74, was going to remain in the hospital as a precaution. As a result, he will not be presiding over the Senate’s final day of business this year.

The Senate, which has been going through a tumultuous last two weeks as Republicans and Democrats feuded over nominations and legislation, resolved the stalemate late Thursday night and agreed to finish up on Friday. Senators will return in early January.

Mr. Reid’s spokesman, Adam Jentleson, said the senator’s condition had improved.

“Early this morning, Senator Reid was not feeling well and as a precaution decided to go to the hospital,” he said.“Tests have been conducted and everything is normal. He is alert, resting and feeling better.

“Doctors have asked that he remain in the hospital for observation so he will not be working today.”

Two weeks ago was my birthday and I wasn't feeling too hot that morning. I went down to breakfast knowing my wife would be pleasant and say "Happy Birthday" and probably have a present for me. She didn't even say "Good Morning", let alone any "Happy Birthday." I thought, "Well, that's wives for you. The children will remember. "The children came down to breakfast and didn't say a word.

When I started to the office I was feeling pretty low and despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary, Janet said, "Good Morning, Boss, Happy Birthday." I felt a little better. Someone had remembered. I worked until noon, then Janet knocked on my door and said, "You know it is such a beautiful day outside and it is your birthday, let's go to lunch, just you and me." I said, "By George, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go.

We went to lunch. We didn't go where we normally go. We went out into the country to a little private place. We had two martinis and enjoyed lunch tremendously. On the way back to the office, she said, "You know, it is such a beautiful day, we don't need to go back to the office, do we?" I said, "No, I guess not." She said, "Let's go to my apartment."

After arriving at her apartment she said, "Boss, if you don't mind, I think I'll go into the bedroom and slip into something more comfortable. Sure," I excitedly replied. She went into the bedroom and, in about six minutes she came out carrying a big birthday cake, followed by my wife, children and dozens of our friends. They were all singing Happy Birthday.......and there I sat on the couch.......naked.
