If only this dishwasher had been given a raise...

"Dismissed from his job as a dishwasher and demanding $50 in back pay, Zoltan Zahonyi, 45, took a bus from New York and then a cab to return to the Rock Oak Lodge. There, the authorities say, he first confronted the owner of the mountaintop restaurant, but then the chef and manager, Anthony Jablonski, interceded and was shot in the chest. Mr. Jablonski was in critical condition yesterday. Mr. Zahonyi was charged with attempted murder."

The belief that “religious freedom” actually means the religious right gets to impose its beliefs on you is going to be tested by the Supreme Court. While many think the case of Hobby Lobby suing to avoid having to offer insurance benefits that cover contraception is primarily about reproductive rights, the real question at the center of the case is how much is your boss allowed to impose his religion on you, just because you work for him?
The employee/employer relationship should be simple: You work for a company, and they pay you with a combination of cash and benefits in compensation. Since you earned it, your cash and benefits belong to you to use as you see fit. But Hobby Lobby—and many other companies run by Christian conservatives—isn’t happy with that way of doing things. They want to claim that your compensation package still belongs to them after you’ve earned it and should be tailored to fit their religious beliefs, even if you, the rightful owner of the compensation package, do not share their beliefs. In their lawsuit, they claim that they should be able to determine how you use your insurance plan, and that they should be exempt from the federal government’s mandatory minimums in how they compensate you because they claim to have religious objections.
If Hobby Lobby wins its case, the precedent will create a massive incentive for corporations to sue to have all sorts of rights to use the fact that you work there as an excuse to force their religious beliefs on you. If your boss can force you to use your earned benefits according to his religious dictates, why not the rest of your compensation? Since he signs your paycheck, will he be able to sue and say that you shouldn’t be able to spend it in ways he believes violate his religion? Being able to claim that their “religious freedom” exempts them from all sorts of labor laws will be a massive boon to the religious right, and they will certainly start looking for ways to expand the ways they can force you to live by their religious rules, beyond how you use your insurance.

And, what is the Republican party doing to reach out to young people? Writing new legislation against abortion; protesting that birth control pills are part of health insurance coverage!
You people are swine.
What has Obama done for young people? Make it almost impossible to find a job? Increase the tax burden? Put the weight of the national debt on their shoulders? Double or triple the cost of health insurance? Make civil discourse so bad that young people have to look over their shoulders to make sure someone is not going to try to knock their block off? You should be more concerned about the snakes in Washington DC.

I see you are still silly enough to think it is "against" abortion to provide routine standards to the procedure-
-providing risks and benefits of the procedure
-setting minimal standards for staff performing various services
-having clean and routinely inspected facilities
-recognizing a baby born alive shouldn't have its' throat slashed

McCain would have put us into world war 3 by bombing Iran; or get sick or die and leave the reigns to Sarah Palin; that moran who can't even speak English!!!!
Obama just gave Iran the green light to continue building their nuclear weapons in the guise of some kind of an "agreement".

They're laughing all the way to their nuclear reactors.

Iran has been laughing at the entire world for more than 30 years.

But you really do think Obama has that much clout to change Iran's loathing of America and Israel, don't you?

All they've done is outsmart us and the UN. If it helps, think of Chamberlain and Hitler for an historical reference.

Republicans teach the young personal responsibility and the value of hard work. If you work hard, you can accomplish great things and fruits of your hard work will be rewarded. Democrats teach the young that they can do nothing and still be rewarded. They learn to be dependent on the government and they learn that achievement is shameful. Kind of like the bleeding heart liberals that demand every five year old gets a trophy no matter how well they play.

I wouldn't work for a theocratic corporation anyway; however, the people who work there, may live in small towns where jobs are scarce. Going to work should not have anything to do with religion. You rightwingers whine and fret about sharia law; well, you want to do the same thing. Impose your religion onto others.

Hobby Lobby should win their case. A benefit package is just that a "benefit". A company should not be required to offer it, and the government should not be allowed to dictate what is in it.

***Public Service Announcement***

Folks, with poor people living each day in fear of the Republican threat to cut food stamps and other services to the poor and the country still reeling from the Bush debacle please give generously to the food banks and charities or the poor.

For you Republicans this is your chance to show that government assistance is not necessary by giving generously.

Also to show your patriotism and of course your constant concern for the debt please do not use the donations as a write off on your taxes.

Thank you.
