Did Obama duck "...his responsibility to protect an embassy after repeated requests?" Again, you'll need to give more facts

President Barack Obama's Kenyan-born uncle, who ignored a deportation order more than two decades ago, was granted permission to stay in the U.S. on Tuesday.
Judge Leonard Shapiro made the decision after Onyango Obama, 69, testified that he had lived in the U.S. for 50 years, been a hard worker, paid income tax and been arrested only once.
Asked about his family in the U.S. on Tuesday, he said, "I do have a nephew." Asked to name the nephew, he said, "Barack Obama, he's the president of the United States."
Onyango Obama, the half brother of the president's late father, has lived in the U.S. since the 1960s. He was ordered to leave the country in 1992, but remained.
----------
Shapiro cited a law that entitles immigrants who are "out of status" to become permanent residents if they arrived in the U.S. before 1972, maintained continuous residence and are of good moral character.
Onyango Obama testified he came to the U.S. from his native Kenya in 1963 and has not been back since. He called America the "land of opportunities."
His immigration status did not become public until his arrest for drunken driving in 2011 in Framingham, just west of Boston. After his arrest, he allegedly told police, "I think I will call the White House."
Asked about the exchange by a prosecutor Tuesday, he said he might have said that, but he couldn't recall.
Earlier this year, the Board of Immigration Appeals sent the case to the Executive Office for Immigration Review for reassessment.
Margaret Wong, Obama's Cleveland-based immigration attorney, called him a "wonderful older gentleman."
"He has earned his privilege to stay in the United States. He has been here for 50 years," she said Tuesday before the hearing.
The White House said it expected the case to be handled like any other immigration case.
In the drunken driving case, Obama admitted to sufficient facts, meaning he did not plead guilty but acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him. A judge continued the case for one year without a finding, saying the charge would be dismissed if Obama did not get arrested again during that time. Wong said Obama has successfully completed that program.
In the president's memoir, "Dreams from My Father," he writes about his 1988 trip to Kenya and refers to an Uncle Omar, who matches Onyango Obama's background and has the same date of birth.
He is the second Obama family member to be found living illegally in the United States. His sister and the president's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, was granted asylum in 2010 after her first asylum request in 2002 was rejected and she was ordered deported in 2004.
She did not leave the country and continued to live in public housing in Boston. Her status was revealed just days before Obama was elected in November 2008. At the time, then-candidate Obama said he did not know his aunt was living here illegally and that he believes laws covering the situation should be followed.

President Obama is scheduled to do the White House Youth Summit on Wednesday. But he’s apparently not too eager to answer questions from those he believes will ask him about tough issues. When Alex Smith, Chair of the College Repulbicans, applied to attend the event, the White House rejected her.

The White House’s response letter read:

Thank you for applying to attend the White House Youth Summit. While we have filled all spots for this event, we would like to remind you that on December 4th, 2013, a portion of the event will be live streamed on WhiteHouse.gov/live from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.

The White House’s original pitch for the White House Youth Summit stated,“Throughout President Obama’s career, he has been fighting for young people. Whether it’s increasing access to higher education or expanding health care coverage, giving young people a fair shot has been and always will be a priority. The President also believes in reaching out to youth across the country to make sure we’re hearing what they have to say, and helping them better understand the policies and programs that impact them.”

While acknowledging that the White House rejects many applicants, Matthew Donnellan, executive director of the College Republican National Committee, pointed out,““Once again we are simply disappointed by President Obama. Young people are set to bear the brunt of the cost of Obamacare but the President refuses to have a genuine discussion about the issue. Obama’s abusive pattern of using young people for our votes and money but then disregarding our opinion is disheartening. All young Americans deserve better.”

Hold that thought ...

The Marlins and Saltalamacchia have indeed agreed to terms on a three-year,$21 million contract according to Heyman. That didn't take long. The deal is pending a physical.

The Marlins are close to a deal with catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, confirms Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com . Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports says the team offered a three-year contract worth roughly $22 million. An agreement is expected within 24 hours.

Saltalamacchia, 28, is from West Palm Beach, about an hour north of Miami, so joining the Marlins would be something of a homecoming. He is easily the best free agent catcher left on the board since Brian McCann (Yankees), Carlos Ruiz (Phillies) and A.J. Pierzynski (Red Sox) have already agreed to deals.

In 121 games this past season, Saltalamacchia hit .273/.338/.466 (118 OPS+) with 14 home runs. He swatted 25 homers in 2012, but otherwise 2013 was a career year offensively. Saltalamacchia is just adequate on defense and below-average at throwing out runners -- his career 23 percent throw out rate is well below the 27 percent league average.

The Marlins have some money to spend this winter and were looking for a veteran backstop to pair with backup Jeff Mathis. They still have holes on the pitching staff and at second and third bases. The team has a history of trading it's biggest free agent pickups after a year or two, so it'll be interesting to see if Saltalamacchia pushes for a no-trade clause.

D-Day arrived for ObamaCare Saturday and began with an 11 hour shutdown of Healthcare.gov --the problem plagued website intended to provide easy access to affordable insurance for millions of Americans.

The contraption is functioning better but is still terribly inadequate. It can only handle 50,000 users at a time, well short of the volume needed to assist the millions of Americans who must purchase health insurance by year end or face fines.

Those eligible for subsidies must use the system, but often the system cannot verify eligibility for aid. Many are in limbo--applications already initiated are stalled, lost, or otherwise cannot be completed.

Healthcare.gov software to funnel subsidies to insurance companies is not functioning effectively, and the small business site that was to offer group coverage has been postponed one year.

Eventually Mr. Zients will have this monster fulfilling all its functions, but it is likely to be a balky, frustrating website, much like other federal websites or those run by private firms enjoying monopoly power.

Health insurance will be as much of a headache as tax filing. Bureaucrats will have easy access to sensitive personal data, which Obama administration political moles can use to target, harass, and sometimes destroy critics, and simply occupy millions of hours of citizens’ time that could be used more productively.

Welcome to statism--the ants of capitalism herded into a bureaucratic hell to serve the masters of a grander design.

All this aside, let us look at the list of promises that will remain unkept when the website is fully repaired, no matter how well it may run:

If you like your insurance, you can keep it.

If you like your doctor, you can keep him.

If you need help finding the coverage you need, we will make it easy.

And by organizing the health care market under the guiding hand of the omnipotent state, we will make insurance cheaper.

The first two promises are forever broken. Insurance companies cannot bring back most policies the Affordable Health Care Act declared illegal, a presidential edict notwithstanding. And insurance companies are slashing doctors and hospitals from their networks to meet arbitrary ObamaCare mandates.

Folks who had perfectly adequate policies, which were delivering hundreds of thousands of dollars in life saving benefits from specialized physicians for cancer treatment and other complex illnesses, have lost those benefits and have been offered replacement policies cluttered with unneeded services. For example, pediatric vision care for childless couples in their 50s and birth control benefits for nuns.

Many Americans face death when old policies lapse and can no longer pay for the care they need. But as a Washington lawyer and ardent support of the president assuaged me, some sacrifice is needed by a few for the progress of the many.

Echoes of Stalin’s casualties building the Moscow subway!

Overall, premium costs are skyrocketing for many Americans, not because their old coverage was inadequate or because new coverage is better, but because they are in markets now served by fewer providers and less competition than before. Businesses are forced to jettison full-time positions in favor of part-time workers to avoid paying health benefits they can no longer afford and avoid penalties that will be imposed beginning in 2015.
