Here moran read it again!!! He is paying somebody for carbon credits (Which is the biggest scam yet) to offset his huge carbon footprint. This means he is paying somebody who doesn't use much energy for their carbon credits. What a bunch of crock.

Big Al needs a big carbon footprint cause he is a BIG GUY!

However he does own some big a$$ forests and carbon credits for him to go a lil wild. What you idiots forget, we are still working in the capitalist world, if the rich guy can buy enough carbon credits to offset his footprint so be it. It's all about reducing the footprint and if you can some poor guys share then that's how the capitalist system works. He uses it to perfection! There is lots of money to be made from green in the future.

Chicago Climate Exchange Closes Nation's First Cap-And-Trade System but Keeps Eye to the Future

NEW YORK -- The nation's first experiment in carbon emissions cap and trade has come to an end, but its mark on the climate change industry will be felt for some time to come.

The second commitment period for member companies of the Chicago Climate Exchange ended as of Dec. 31, 2010, and there will be no new cycle to ring in the new year. Exchange trading in the allowances the system generated, known as Carbon Financial Instruments (CFIs), to meet emission reduction commitments ends, as well, although CFI generation will continue as a strictly voluntary greenhouse gas emissions offset system.

Meanwhile, CCX's sister institutions, the European Climate Exchange and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange, will continue as long as there is corporate and state government interest in fighting climate change, even with the failure of cap and trade in the U.S. Congress, CCX officials insist.

And former member companies say they have no regrets about participating in the admittedly flawed system. They praise the lessons they learned ahead of the slow spread of state-driven cap-and-trade initiatives from the Northeast to California and possibly the West.

"We're glad to have had the experience," said Jennifer Orgolini, sustainability director at New Belgium Brewing Co., one of the smallest former members. "I don't regret joining it."

Though celebrated by climate activists at its launch in 2003, CCX became plagued by a flood of credits from offset project generators that collapsed the CFI market, sending exchange prices to a nickel per unit. Highlighting this collapse, many in the U.S. carbon trading community openly questioned the legitimacy of the system itself, putting founder Richard Sandor and his team on the defensive at periodic carbon market conferences held in Washington, D.C., and New York.

<quoted text>
Let's face it Carol, your hatred for this president is so deep seated that you'd have the same reaction no matter what he said or did.
Let's take a factual look at who's responsible for this particular mess, the insurance industry. Under the ACA all policies written before the law was enacted were "grandfathered", even the crappy junk policies that would end up costing the subscriber more than they saved in premiums if they had the misfortune of actually getting sick. After the law was enacted insurance companies conned subscribers into switching their policies for equally if not more crappy policies that they knew full well weren't in compliance with the law and were no longer grandfathered. A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles filed against Anthem Blue Cross illustrates this fraud being perpetrated by the insurance industry.
According to the Los Angeles Times (11/4/13), approximately 900,000 people in California received notification that their health policies would be canceled. But lawsuits filed by Paul Simon and Catherine Coker allege that Anthem Blue Cross engaged in twisting, a violation of California insurance law.“Twisting” refers to the practice of convincing policyholders to give up their grandfathered plans.
The lawsuits, as noted by Courthouse News Service (11/6/13), allege Blue Cross convinced thousands of policyholders to leave their grandfathered health plans. Those health plans would have protected policyholders if the plans were purchased before March 23, 2010, and met the Affordable Care Act minimum requirements for coverage. Blue Cross allegedly did not inform policyholders of the risks associated with leaving a grandfathered plan. With the protection of a grandfathered plan, policyholders could continue with their coverage. Without a grandfathered plan, policyholders would have to purchase a new plan to replace their coverage, including potentially having a more limited provider network and leaving their current medical care providers.
But you're dumb enough to want these vultures to be trusted with healthcare coverage.
The main reason I have a deep-seated mistrust, not hatred, towards this president is because I knew this country could never be blessed if our leader had such a disregard towards the sanctity of human life that he could callously deny a born alive botched abortion baby medical care. Not voting to allow medical care is the same as voting no to allowing medical care.

The other reasons should be obvious...his lack of real-world life experiences, a lack of real-world leadership experiences, the total disconnect to understanding what makes this country tick, and shady and corrupt affiliations had a lot to do with it.

The fact he was voted by a nonpartisan organization to be the most radical left liberal in Congress didn't give me much hope he would have my best interests at heart either.

My concerns and mistrust have been proven justified.

Expanding Medicare under Obamacare might be a noble cause if we weren't so far in over our heads now and could afford to provide free health care to millions of people without overburdening a significant number of other people with higher premiums who can't afford it either.

Just one example of the ones benefiting most from Obamacare are women who have 15 babies with 6 different fathers who say, "somebody's gonna have to pay for all these babies."

She may not represent the truly needy but she does represent what's terribly wrong with big government wanting to provide permanent lifestyles of dependency.

The leader of the UK, Cameron, just made a speech recently encouraging strong work ethics and self-reliance to be celebrated beginning in the public schools.

We need a leader saying that here too.

Maybe the liberals can find them.
What that shows is Democrats are willing to compromise. Republicans...not so much. As Dan Pfeiffer said, Republicans negotiate with "a bomb strapped to their chest".

Tell me, how many times in the history of the United States has a political party taken an oath to vote against any bill presented by the opposing party? It's silly to believe that the same kind of unconstitutional legislative coalition that existed in the past is viable today.

FACT: The ACA went through our Constitutional legislative process and was signed into law. You people need to get over it.

FACT: If the majority of the people wanted the ACA repealed, they would have voted for Romney. They didn't.

Republicans tried over and over, and over, and over again to repeal the ACA through lawful means of voting and failed. Then, they tried to illegally repeal the ACA by circumventing the Constitution and defunding the ACA. They failed.

This Republican "political strategy" is sickening, childish and harmful to America. Until such time as Republicans get off their high horse and show a willingness to compromise, Obama has no choice but to circumvent the House to get things accomplished. I support any strategy that ends the stalemate that currently exists in Congress.

But if you think about it, it makes sense in some cases.

Hollywood billionaires like Oprah grew up poor, made a lot of money relatively quickly. They appeal to the low information, TV-addicted crowd for their fan base. So they carry on the entitlement mentality of the poor they grew up with, and cash the checks from their fan base of ignorant people.

The SMART billionaires like Soros manipulate currency markets for their millions. So how better to rig the game than to have inside information from your purchased politicians? That's how Princess Pelosi has accumulated tens of millions of dollars while being paid less than $200K/year as a representative.

Corporate leaders that seem leftist are doing so out of self-defense. If a leftist is in charge of the gubbermint, and the gubbermint can destroy your business at will, you do whatever you can to appeal to the leftist in charge of the gubbermint.

The leftist politicians use both angles-- they buy the votes from the ignorant leftist voters with gubbermint handouts, then extort money from corporations and harvest all the kickbacks and inside deals that come with it.

Liberal fantasy-land
By Lisa Fabrizio
Spurred by plunging approval numbers and his failure to produce for the American people, the president's term will come to an early and untimely end on May 14th. It seems the public has had its fill of liberal fantasy-land President Josiah Bartlet.
"The West Wing," cancelled after seven seasons on NBC, has been a safe haven for those who can't bear the reality that somewhere, out there, large groups of Americans have elected and re-elected George W. Bush. Some say the show actually mirrored real life in DC and they may be correct. After all, sometimes it's easier to accept that Alan Alda is a Republican senator than say, Arlen Specter.
But Josiah Bartlet isn't the only fantasy president cooked up by liberals. There is apparently, another Commander in Chief, and I don't mean Geena Davis. This president, far from acting in the nation's best interests, is alternately portrayed as a Constitution-hating dictator, an exploitive warmonger, a greedy capitalist, a scheming theocrat and Adolph Hitler.
These views are understandable coming from those who dwell in the lands of chocolate New Orleans and Hillary Clinton's illusory plantation but they are surely at odds with much of the country. Yet when it comes to President Bush, the fantasies of his imminent demise persist.
To that end, the latest liberal talking points suggest that we are not only losing our precious civil liberties due to the sinister machinations of 'the shrub,' but the War on Terror itself. One would think this is foolish considering that the WOT is regarded as the president's strongest suit, but they are not deterred.
Liberals have long had trouble understanding the terms 'winning' and 'losing' when it comes to war — see Walter Cronkite and the Tet Offensive — so their thinking becomes even more convoluted when discussing it. And when confronted with the question of why there have been no further terrorist incidents here at home, it resembles the proverbial pretzel.
One such riff goes like this: "There haven't been any attacks here yet because the terrorists are busy in Iraq and Afghanistan." When it's suggested that maybe that was the whole idea, they begin searching for the third eye on your forehead and move on to their next anti-Bushism.
The latest impeachable offense is the so-called illegal wiretapping issue. Liberals love polls, especially those that are manipulated to reflect their views while they tend to dismiss those that do not. But one they've particularly ignored suggests that the majority of the American people are in favor of the president's use of warrant-less wiretapping to identify domestic ties to international terrorists.
Not only that, half of those polled feel that those who blew the NSA's cover are traitors rather than whistle-blowers; those selfless heroes who are so revered by the left, unless their name is Linda Tripp. Americans may be receptive to liberal propaganda on many fronts but fortunately, national security is not one of them.
Undaunted by their failure to win that battle in their war on Bush, the Democrats' latest strategy to retake the country is to focus on congressional ethics. But while trying to morph the dirty-doings of a few crooked Republicans into a "culture of corruption," they are painting with a brush that might be too wide for their own good.
Their self-righteous claim that they received no direct money from Jack Abramoff is akin to Al Gore's famous remark after collecting sacks of money from Buddhist monks: "I did not know that it was a fund-raiser." That there are crooks up on Capitol Hill is not breaking news to the American people.
Yet they are sure that GOP corruption goes straight to the top. Their proof? Photos of President Bush with the dastardly Abramoff. Imagine that; a man photographed thousands of times a year poses with a big party donor. Wonder what they would think if he was snapped with sleazy drug dealers, Red Chinese bag men or lascivious interns?

Do you recall who started those drone attacks?

Where was your outrage when Bush was killing American citizens?!!

"On November 5, 2002, a US Predator Drone fired a hellfire missile at a car traveling through the Mar’ib province of Yemen, destroying it and killing the six people inside. One of the dead was a US citizen. One of the dead was the country’s most senior level al Qaeda operative, wanted for the October 12, 2000 bombing of the USS Cole that killed 17 sailors."
