People need to stop focusing on the Social Security retirement program and refocus on SSI. That is the program that needs closer scrutiny. After all, SSI isn't self-funded. It is paid for by U.S. Treasury general funds. And it is running amok.
Since 1990, the number of disabled-worker beneficiaries has increased 84%. Repeat 84%!!! And, asa a result, the number of disabled Medicare beneficiaries has increased nearly 70 percent since 1990. This just isn't acceptable. We need to reevaluate how we pay SSI to premature children and take a look at why disability retirements are being handed out like candy.
That's where the red ink is....not in the self-funded Social Security program.
The Social Security Trust Fund is an easy fix....raise the retirement age by one year. Not so much with SSI. It's a monster that is out of control.
How old are YOU?

Those of us who have worked above the tables, in the lower economic realms since our middle teens-say..DON'T touch the retirement age, 40 PLUS years of paying IN taxes, to have a society that NOW allows for hordes of able entitlementalcase SLACKERTICS to drain them for sitting on their deadbeat, palms outstretched azzez is already TOO MUCH.

The "welfare" FWEE riding baby mama and similar programs are the ones that are OUT of control!!

Polls Show the GOP Is Now Losing Their Faithful

Ted Cruz may be trying to spin it otherwise, but the numbers show the GOP is even losing the support of Republican voters.

Denial ainít just a river in Egypt. Itís now an official wing of the Republican Party.

As poll after poll after poll shows Americans angry with the GOP over the government shutdown, Tea Party Republicans are still trying to spin this disaster as a win for the GOP. This epic denial brings back memories of Election 2012, when Republicans believed right up to the last minute that the reelection of Barack Obama was a scientific impossibility.

Not surprisingly, the chief purveyor of the latest fairy tale is Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who spun it for his GOP colleagues at a Wednesday luncheon. Here is his argument, which has worked its way into Tea Party talking points: In November 1995, 51 percent of voters blamed Republicans for the shutdown; a mere 28 percent blamed then-President Clinton. Every poll shows that the GOP is being blamed for the shutdown this time as well. But itís by a smaller margin than in 1995. Break out the Champagne.

Not so fast. A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll out Thursday found that the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Obama, by a 22-percentage-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent). This is essentially the same as the 1995 margin. What will Cruz say now?

the nutjobs sure are quiet about the polls.
That's probably because 3 out of 4 Americans don't know the so-called "government shut down" is just another lie and hoax from the Democrats.
The government didn't shut down. 87 percent of the government was unaffected. That means we were able to cut the government by 13 percent, which is what has to happen not only this year, but every year for the forseeable future to put the government in a position of balancing revenue with spending.
All that is happening is, the Democrats are throwing a tantrum over being forced with the real world fact that a government must live within its means.
The Democrats' tantrum is so severe, they are threatening to destabilize the world economy by unconstitutionally causing the United States to default on its debt.
These Democrats are the most dangerous radicals to ever infect government since Hitler... perhaps even more dangerous than Hitler, considering they have allied themselves with the worst terrorists in the world today.

The party is, in fact, going through a morphing phase. Newer and younger fearless and plain-speaking voices are emerging. Like a butterfly from its cocoon - a beautiful sight.
The party also learned a valuable lesion after 2012 that won't happen again. Never assume the masses are using common sense and paying attention - but take the message directly to them.
And create a massive "get the vote out" grassroots movement to make sure these people get to the polls. We actually learned that from the Democrats in 2012.
I agree with this. There were many issues about Obama that the Republicans considered too delicate, such as Obama being just a figurehead and not having anything to do with government, Obama joining Al Qaeda, Obama sabotaging the Armed Forces and the war in Afghanistan, Obama being a complete fraud and everything being promoted about Obama being a lie, and Obama being a pathological liar, and Obama being indoctrinated his entire life with Marxist communism, and on, and on, and on.
It's a difficult thing for an American to do, to announce to the world that Americans are so stupid and incompetent, they actually elected such an anti-American treasonous fraud to begin with, and we actually know we sent this fraud out into the world to represent us.

i noticed this...

The WWII Memorial Protest: A Big Fuss About Almost Nothing

Conservatives rally on behalf of veterans and liberty in a way that does nothing to advance the cause of either.

When the barricades are removed, whether because the Obama Administration is pressured due to the absurdity of it all or because the shutdown ends, conservatives will find a way to make Obama look bad in the next news cycle, and their political theater, whether successful or unsuccessful, won't lead to any actual victories. They won't marshall anything like the focus or grassroots passion that's needed to actually improve the care of veterans in America or the degree to which our liberties are secure, because bettering governance is not their goal. Publicity stunts optimized for generating outrage in a given news cycle are all they've got, and even those haven't been effective at winning converts.

Official Stance of the Million Vet March on the Memorials:

The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC yesterday was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain.

A crazy thing is happening in shuttered, dysfunctional Washington: Democrats are pushing back.

This phenomenon is so novel and disorienting that many Republicans in Congress, especially the tea party bullies, seem unable to grasp whatís going on. They keep expecting President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to fold like a cheap suit because, well, such a thing has happened before. I guess itís understandable that the GOP might have forgotten the difference between bluffing and actually holding a winning hand.[...]

The fact that the GOP controls the House means that its views cannot be ignored. But the fact that Democrats control the Senate and the White House means that Republicans have no right to expect that they will always get their way. This concept of basic fairness is the sort of thing most of us learned in second grade. Apparently, Sen. Ted Cruz was not paying attention.
