Barack Obama, our next President

The GOP’s Misinformation Problem in Action (III)

....the Republican members of Congress telling the public that they don’t need to worry about the danger of default if the debt ceiling isn’t raised are simply wrong. They are misinformed, and they are misinforming the public. They need to stop, but unfortunately many of the sources that they rely on for their news and analysis are recycling the same bad information.

Strange that Ted Cruz (real name Rafael Edward Cruz) is the one behind shutting down the government. What do we know about this Foreign born person? How is it that a person not born in the US has so much power over the government? Could it be that his Cuban father under the direction on Castor has infiltrated our government through his son? Is this the beginning of a commie take over?
Come on Repub help me out here. You are better at the conspiracy ideas than I am. Is this commie Cruz trying a government take over?

Daily Show host Jon Stewart mocked Republicans on Tuesday for their continued efforts to avoid taking responsibility for the federal government shutdown, despite it being precipitated by one of their own speaking for 21 hours

“The party of personal responsibility ain’t taking none,” Stewart said after playing a montage of clips of GOP lawmakers trying to pin the blame on Democrats.

Stewart then showed footage of House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) interview with ABC News on Sunday in which Boehner did not deny that in July 2013 he offered Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) a continued resolution for government spending at levels below what Democrats wanted — while continuing to fund the Affordable Care Act — only to renege on the offer later.

“I and my members decided that the threat of Obamacare and what was happening was so important that it was time for us to take a stand,” Boehner said at the time, which incensed Stewart.

“Did you f*cking hear that?” Stewart yelled at his audience.“Can we stop having a conversation about if ‘both sides are gonna blink.’ They had a deal.”

Stewart then challenged Boehner, saying,“You think Obamacare’s a big enough threat to this country that you need to shut down the government, fine. Own it. Don’t fart and point at the dog.”

More Hell Coming to DC as Misinformed Right Wing Truckers Prepare to Invade

http://www.politicususa.com/2013/10/08/hell-c...

MSNBC host Ed Schultz accused right-wing talk hosts of co-opting “the very people that they’ve done nothing for” in encouraging a group of truck drivers in their attempt to blunt traffic around Washington D.C. on Friday in the “Ride For The Constitution” demonstration.

“If you’re a trucker, may I ask you tonight: What in the hell have Republicans done for you?” Schultz said.“They’ve let subsidies run wild to the oil companies. They’ve done nothing to reel in the speculation on Wall Street because they don’t want any regulation whatsoever. They want all deregulation. Tell me, what have the Republicans done for you independent truckers out there on your own, the entrepreneurs of America, what have they done for you? I’ll tell you — nothing.”

After speculating that “probably most” of the demonstrators will be armed, Schultz described them as angry people with a barrage of complaints, but directed at the wrong source in President Barack Obama.

“They’re upset about high fuel prices,” Schultz pointed out.“Really? What have the Republicans done about that? Not a damn thing. In fact, I think these truckers, they ought to find out who exactly is in favor of big oil subsidies.”

It was also easy, Schultz argued, for conservative elements to make “low-information” voters upset about issues like regulations or the debt limit.

“This is one angry and disturbed bunch of folks,” Schultz said.“And they have been listening to radio [hosts] all across the country who have been encouraging them to think that they really can do this and get away with it.”

Tea Party’s Strategy Is a Proven Loser

In any negotiation, it is inadvisable to make threats that aren’t credible. Probably the only thing worse is to threaten actions that will end up helping the other side. Yet the Tea Party-affiliated House Republicans aren’t simply making this very mistake with the government shutdown; they are gearing up to do it again, on a grander and more fatal scale, with the debt ceiling.

....It is commonly supposed that Republicans won’t experience public blowback because the House has become so polarized as a result of gerrymandering. But Senate and presidential elections cannot be fixed in this way. Among other things, the strategy of establishing conservative control over the Supreme Court seems likely to go out the window. Moderate Republicans such as Representative Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania have it right: theirs doesn’t look much like the party of responsible government.

against one tour group made up mostly of senior citizens at

Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus
witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and
heartbroken for her country.
Vaillancourt was one of thousands of people who found
themselves in a national park as the federal government shutdown
went into effect on Oct. 1. For many hours her tour group, which
included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and
the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park
hotel under armed guard.
The tourists were treated harshly by armed park employees, she
said, so much so that some of the foreign tourists with limited
English skills thought they were under arrest.
When finally allowed to leave, the bus was not allowed to halt at
all along the 2.5-hour trip out of the park, not even to stop at
private bathrooms that were open along the route.
#15 Of course one of the most disturbing abuses of power is how
the Obama administration is using barricades and guards to keep
military veterans away from open air memorials such as the
World War II Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial and the Iwo
Jima Memorial that are normally open to the public 24 hours a
day.
Nice summary of the closures of this shut down.

Polls: Public places more blame for shutdown on GOP

The ABC News/Washington Post poll, meanwhile, found that 70 percent of Americans disapprove of the way congressional Republicans are handling negotiations over the federal budget, while just 24 percent approve.(Last week, 26 percent approved of the GOP’s handling, and 63 percent disapproved.)

http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/...

why is it that every poll headline reads something like 'GOP to blame'?

because they are.
