Sarah Palin finally got her death panels — a direct blow from the Republican House. In shutting down the government, leaving 800,000 people without a paycheck and draining the economy of $300 million a day, the Party of Madness also took away last-chance cancer trials for children at the National Institutes of Health.
And now that the pain that was dismissed as a trifle on Monday, a “slimdown” according to the chuckleheads at Fox News, is revealed as tragic by mid-week, the very radicals who caused the havoc are trying to say it’s not their fault.
It’s too late. They flunked hostage-taking. About 30 or so Republicans in the House, bunkered in gerrymandered districts while breathing the oxygen of delusion, are now part of a cast of miscreants who have stood firmly on the wrong side of history. The headline, today and 50 years from now, will be the same: Republicans closed the government to keep millions of their fellow Americans from getting affordable health care.

Like hundreds of thousands of other federal employees, these are men and women whose contributions have been demeaned by the federal shutdown, who are being asked to work without, at least for the moment, being paid — and who are doing their jobs with considerably more dignity than the House of Representatives has mustered.

“We all owe the Capitol Police a debt of gratitude for their work every day; no finer examples of professionalism & bravery,” tweeted House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio). That’s true. But Mr. Boehner owes them, and the rest of the federal workforce, more than a 140-character message of thanks. He owes them a paycheck; he owes them a budget; he owes them an apology.

Share Obamacare With Congress

I have written several times my thinking on the Vitter Amendment. Congress will find a way around it. Word now comes that Speaker Boehner, behind the scenes, was trying to find a way to make sure, on the sly, that Congress remains exempt.

I think it is important that Congress make sure we know we expect them to suffer through Obamacare with it. To that end, along with Human Events, you can sign this petition to make it clear you agree.

ObamaCare, formally known as "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," will impose massive penalties on young workers, small businesses and others who choose not to buy expensive health insurance, beginning in 2014. ObamaCare is the biggest handout by liberals to a single interest group — the health insurance industry — in American history. Even a Democrat Senator recently admitted: ObamaCare "cost Obama a lot of credibility as a leader."[1] On June 28, 2012, the Supreme Court of the United States upheld the constitutionality of ObamaCare — by only one vote, 5-4 — as being within the taxing power of the federal government. Since then, leading Democrats have described ObamaCare as a "train wreck," and unions increasingly agree with conservatives that Obamacare should be repealed.[2]

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) pointed out that there are no redeeming provisions of Obama's health care plan.[3] AAPS observes that Obama's health care plan will significantly increase the overall cost of health care for a majority of United States citizens, plus reduce the quality of care that a free market system would otherwise provide.

"How much money does the U.S. government give oil, gas and coal companies?
In the United States, credible estimates of annual fossil fuel subsidies range from $14 billion to $52 billion annually, while even efforts to remove small portions of those subsidies have been defeated in Congress, as shown in the graphic below. Download your own pdf copy here."
http://priceofoil.org/fossil-fuel-subsidies/
""$2.4 Billion: subsidies to the Big Five producers debated and defeated in the Senate in 2011 and 2012
The Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act, sponsored by Senator Menendez (D-NJ) was debated and defeated by the Senate for two years running, and would have eliminated $2.4 billion in annual tax deductions for the five major oil companies: BP, Exxon, Chevron, Shell and ConocoPhillips.
Although the move would have been an initial step, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. So called “independent” oil companies are hardly small businesses. Major integrated oil companies also include Occidental, Amerada Hess, Marathon, Murphy Oil and dozens of others. Together, these companies produced 53.5 percent of U.S. oil in 2009.
$4 Billion: Subsidy cuts President Obama proposed in the 2013 budget.
President Obama has proposed cutting fossil fuel subsidies ... blah... blah... blah...
$52 billion. Highest credible comprehensive estimate. Includes some costs associated with defending pipelines and shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf. Earth Track, an NGO that specializes in subsidy valuation, estimates that annual oil, gas and coal subsidies total about $52 billion annually."
----------
You can continue with your lies, Dweeb, and I will continue to make you look like the lying commie scumbag we all know you are!!
Let's see...
"...credible estimates...." Who says they're credible? Who made those estimates? Another example of the usual ploy used by sites like Soros' Snopes and Factcheck. The source may or may not exist, and it is only their subjective statement that commands the audience to give credibility to it.
That statement isn't worth the space it took to post it.
"$2.4 Billion: subsidies to the Big Five producers debated and defeated in the Senate in 2011 and 2012"
Again, no substance to back the characterization up. Looks like more propaganda from your pathological lying Communist Party USA sites you reference so often.
"Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act, sponsored by Senator Menendez (D-NJ)...."
Give us a break. Naming a bill "Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act" is an obvious propaganda ploy.
But, you could give your statement some validity by identifying the mythical oil subsidies you have been programmed to believe exist this bill will repeal.
"...eliminated $2.4 billion in annual tax deductions...."
Tax deductions isn't a subsidy, dumbass.
And, you still don't tell anyone anything because you don't identify which tax deductions would be eliminated. Did the bill propose to eliminate the tax deduction for operational expenses?
You have to answer questions like this to do anything other that mindlessly regurgitate propaganda.
Your copy and past post says nothing.
So, please identify these mythical subsidies to oil companies you are programmed to believe exist.

And, as to your reference to Obama's proposal, that clown doesn't have any credibility, anyway. If you don't believe that, just ask the world. They just demonstrated they don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, even when he may accidentally be speaking the truth.

Bad News is everywhere for the Republican Party. Even the Fox News poll has found disapproval of the Republican Party jumping to 59% in their latest poll.

According to the Fox News poll, disapproval of the Republican Party has jumped from 46% in September of 2012 to 59% today. Disapproval of the GOP has climbed from 54% in January to 56% in April to nearing 60% today. Approval of the Republican Party has fallen from 45% to 35%. In contrast, Democratic Party unfavorability has stayed stable in the Fox poll at between 48% and 49% all through 2013.

Support for repealing the ACA has dropped from 39% in June to 30% today. This could mean that the linking of funding the government to defunding or delaying the ACA has completely backfired on the Republican Party. The number of Americans who think that they will be better off under Obamacare has risen by 7 points from 34% to 41%, and by a margin of 36%-19% respondents thought that Ted Cruz’s fake filibuster hurt efforts to repeal the ACA.

Eighty one percent think the government shutdown is a serious problem, and they are blaming John Boehner and Ted Cruz (42%) more than they are blaming Harry Reid and President Obama (32%). A new CBS News poll confirmed the Fox News poll by finding that 44% of Americans blame Boehner and the Republicans for the shutdown, while 35% blame Obama and the Democrats.
