For someone who should know about the Vietnam War, you sure don't sound like it.
Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969) was the president when the Gulf of Tonkin attack occurred. The first attack was legitimate but no one knows if the second actually occurred. Johnson used this situation to give him more war powers. Johnson was the one who sent the first combat troops to Vietnam.
The Tet Offensive also occurred under Johnson. It was such a disgrace, Johnson left office knowing he would not accept the democratic renomination.
Richard Nixon (1969-1974) used a process called “Vietnamization”, training the South Vietnam troops to fight and then slowly pulling American troops out of Vietnam. The war was brought into Cambodia and Lao to try to find pockets of communist along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
In January 1973, a peace treaty was signed ending the war for Americans but not for South Vietnam. North Vietnam took over the south after the American troops left putting an end to the Vietnam War.
Gerald Ford (1974-1977) was the president when Saigon fell. Congress had tied Ford's hands and forced him to stand aside and not offer any help to our former allies. Ford was the scapegoat to take the blame, and the American people did blame him for the final debacle in Southeast Asia. He lost the election in 1976, although it was not his fault.
...But the point is, the war was officially over for Americans in 1973 under Nixon.
The fall of Saigon occurred on Aug 30 1975__do you remember seeing the photos/video of Americans evacuating Vietnamese to American ships?

Gerald Ford was POTUS.

I agree that it is weird to play these games and I agree that the violence depicted in them is horrible. Why are young men so attracted to this? I think it desensitizes indiscriminate killing; and the more people you kill in the games, the more points you have. Its sick to be sure; but, do we want to live in a country with censorship? Notice that most of these mass killers seem to be the quiet loner types, isolated from the world around them. It's sad.
What is truly sad is that for the past 30 years or more liberals have kept people like this from being institutionalized to protect themselves and the public.

Six months of accidental shootings of children since Newtown

Of the 188 accidental shootings listed below:

* 76 resulted in the death of children and teens aged 18 and under
* 28 resulted in the death of children aged 7 or under -- the ages of the first-graders killed at Newtown
* in at least 25 of the fatal shootings, the shooter was aged 18 and under
* in at least 9 of the fatal shootings (news reports often omit the age of juvenile shooters), the shooter was aged 12 and under; 6 of the shooters were aged 8 and under
* in at least 12 of the fatal shootings, a sibling pulled the trigger
* in four fatal shootings, the father pulled the trigger (no mothers did, although plenty of guns owned by mothers were found by children who then shot themselves and/or others)
* 46 additional children aged 7 and under were shot and survived
* the youngest shooting victim was 10 months old
* three babies were shot -- a 14-month-old was shot by a neighbor, a 10-month-old was shot and killed by his father, and a 10-month-old was shot by his 3-year-old sister

Also not included are the number of adults who are accidentally killed by children, the most recent of which is the former Green Beret father who survived the Iraq War only to be shot dead by his 4-year-old son. The 4-year-old wasn't injured -- physically, at least. The psychological damage that he will suffer when he fully understands what happened to his father is another avoidable tragedy.

Noticed your disdain for liberalism. I’m liberal as you are not. So lets take a simple look at what I represent and what you represent.
Liberal adj
1. broad-minded: tolerant of different views and standards of behavior in others
2. progressive politically or socially: favoring gradual reform, especially political reforms that extend democracy, distribute wealth more evenly, and protect the personal freedom of the individual
3. generous: freely giving money, time, or some other asset
My great-aunt was liberal in her bequests.

4. generous in quantity: large in size or amount
a liberal helping

5. not literal: not limited to the literal meaning in translation or interpretation
a liberal interpretation of the rules

6. culturally oriented: concerned with general cultural matters and broadening of the mind rather than professional or technical study
a liberal education

7. of political liberalism: relating to a political ideology of liberalism

n (plural lib·er·als)
liberal person: somebody who favors tolerance or open-mindedness

[14th century. Via French < Latin liberalis < liber "free"]

Word Key: Synonyms

See generous.

Now to define your state of existence we just have to access the acronyms of these definitions. For example “Broad Minded” acronym “Closed Minded”
“ tolerant of different views and standards of behavior in others” acronym; Intolerant of the views of others and standards of behavior in others. LOL That sure sounds like a BIGOT to me. Now think you can do the rest all by yourself and expose yourself as to what you really are… Admire Churchill do yee?

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.” Winston Churchill. LOL sounds like a liberal…

New York City with a population much greater than Chicago's has had an historically low homicide since Guiliani cleaned up the city. Now, thanks to a liberal judge who has handcuffed the police and just appointed 12 law law professors to "oversee" and Monday morning quarterback the police department, homicide rates are already up 13% year over year.

This moronic decision puts the police back to only being able to act when one is already a victim. Police work has been sent from being proactive, to the hospital or morgue after the fact. Why should police officers put their careers and even their personal assets on the line if they can be judged guilty (until proven innocent) of racism because they stop a black who is acting suspiciously.

And unfortunately, this idiocy has the backing of the possible future Democrat Mayor who will replace Bloomberg and the corrupt politically motivated City Council.

Sit back and watch a great city return to the David Dinkins days, similar to Chicago and Detroit. Like little canaries, the squeegee men will soon be bothering people again.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) continued to draw the scorn of House Republicans on Friday when Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) fumed that Senate conservatives have "bullied" and "abused" their counterparts in the lower chamber throughout the push to defund Obamacare.

Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Duffy once again hammered the likes of Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) for acknowledging earlier this week that a continuing resolution (CR) that defunds the health care law is probably doomed in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that the House will pass a CR on Friday that cuts funding to Obamacare, effectively placing the onus on Cruz and his allies in the Senate.

"All summer long as these ads have been running, as they've been holding town halls and raising money, we've kept a lid on our anger in the House as we were the punching bag and bullied by some of these Senate conservatives," Duffy said. "And so now with the CR vote that's gonna come today we are gonna give them exactly what they've asked for — the opportunity to fight in the Senate on defunding Obamacare. And you saw us explode with anger publicly when they stood up and started waving the white flag saying,'Listen, we're not gonna fight here, we're gonna surrender, we can't win.'"

Inequality increasing? More for the 1% to reduce our flow of liquid monetary fuel for the middle class dynamos ?
That may be the case. Assets of the 1% are 33% of the nations wealth. Accumulating at 1/5th {20%] per year of the total national income.
Due to those assets they had more to lose in the markets. However their recovery was fast. Since the recession the 1% gained 93% of the additional income created in the nation, in 2010 as compared to 2009.
Impoverished and Middle class wealth, fell by more than 1/3, from the second quarter of 2006 to the end of 2011 as their investments were in their homes real estates.
That’s an example of how assets contribute to income recovery. Keep in mind as the wealth disappeared from Main Street. Wall Street CEO’s were maintaining their high earnings. After a slight dip in 2008 they returned to a ratio of 243 to 1 of the typical employed laborer. Emphasis on employed.
Unemployed raised the poverty levels as their reward.
Consider the past 30 years ago the 1% had 12 % of national income. Accumulation of wealth in 2007 to the 0.1% produced an income for them, that in a day and half was greater than the bottom 90% earn in a year !

The Republican Party Collapses as John McCain Attacks Obamacare Defunders as Irrational

When John McCain is the voice of rational reason in the room, Republicans have a lot of problems. This is the same John McCain who still defends invading Iraq, but even he sees that there is zero chance of any bill that defunds Obamacare passing the Senate. Even if the bill did pass, Republicans don’t have enough votes to override the certain presidential veto. It is just not going to happen.

The Republicans who are pushing defunding are doing so for their own benefit. Ted Cruz knows that defunding Obamacare will never pass the Senate, but he sees a chance to boost his possible 2016 presidential campaign by threatening a filibuster.(This would also allow him to match Rand Paul’s filibuster, and even in the score in the hearts of Republican primary voters.) McCain’s right. If Republicans shutdown the government over the ACA, they may end up losing the House.

The bigger problem is that the Obamacare jihad that the far right of the GOP is on is tearing the party apart. Older and more experienced Republicans are lining up against their inexperienced colleagues in a battle to prevent the ideologues from destroying the party. The conventional wisdom was that the Republicans can at least agree on getting rid of Obamacare, but that’s not true. Republicans can’t agree on anything.

What Republicans are doing is not irrational, it’s downright stupid. The Republican Party is getting to close to a full on collapse, and Democrats are more than happy to cheer them on.
