"Ethanol Industry Gets a Boost From Bush
By Steven Mufson
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, January 25, 2007
At the State of the Union address Tuesday night, Don Endres relished the strange applause rituals, the pomp and ceremony, and even the dinner in the Capitol beforehand at which he rubbed elbows with leading lawmakers.
But most of all, Endres, the chief executive of the nation's second-largest ethanol maker, relished President Bush's message: that the government should sharply raise the mandate for ethanol use in motor fuels, setting a floor for alternative and renewable fuel use in 2017 that is equal to seven times the current ethanol output.
That is good news for Endres's company, VeraSun Energy, which will nearly triple its capacity by the end of 2008, to 670 million gallons a year from 230 million. VeraSun's shares soared this week. Even after profit-taking by investors yesterday, VeraSun closed at $17.49 a share, up 5 percent since Friday's close.
----------
So why do you blame Gore for a Bush inspired disaster??
And don't forget all those Repugnant Senators and Congressmen from corn belt states..........
Caught you in yet another lie, Nobraina.
Actually it was. Ford had decided that ethanol would be the preferred fuel but was talked out of it by somebody? Wonder who?

Okay, let me get this straight. Lord Obama, the guy that condemned Bush for attacking the guy that gassed the Kurds in the 90's wants to attack a guy in Syria for... gassing some people.

Lord Obama gets all badass a year ago, tells Syria that if they use gas he's gonna GET 'EM.

Then they use gas, so Lord Obama sez he wants to launch a military strike, maybe doesn't need Congress to OK it.

Then he sez no, he'll wait until he gets Congress to approve it.

Then he pi$$es all over Russia for not supporting a military strike, and Putin sez he'll get the chemical weapons from Syria and make sure they don't use them anymore.

The weapons that Syria said they didn't have. Now they say they will turn them over to Russia.

And Lord Obama thinks this is a great solution to the problem.

Can we get somebody besides a leftist clown to run the country? Please?

Are you crazy? Putin is the one who has been standing in the way of a U.N. resolution against Syria. He is the one who allowed Assad to terrorize the world. He recognizes that he has blood of innocent people on his hands and is trying to clean up HIS mess. Obama is a far better president than McCain or Romney. That is a FACT.

Odumbo doesn't have that much power (nor does any president). Our system (so wonderfully and brilliantly crafted so long ago) has s many checks and balances that any threat of totalitarianism is eliminated. If you don't believe me, just listen to all the whiners and crybabies (both here on topix, and in government).
Suffice it to say, odumbo has been bitch-slapped by Putin, congress, and the American people. I know it, every poster on this site knows it (although some won't admit it), and I damn well guarantee baruck knows it ......
POTUS has lots of power if he acts rationally instead of like an idiot.

The fact is that if assad is disposed in Syria nothing will change. The various sects will continue to kill those who belong to other sects. They have doing it for what 1500 years? No matter what the US does or does not do nothing will change. Hopefully president nobama will not make a strike. It would be a waste of American resources.
