I would suggest YOU familiarize yourself with the War Powers Resolution which gives the President 90 days within which to notify Congress after committing armed forces to military action "without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war."

I would further suggest you familiarize yourself with our duties under the United Nations Charter and NATO. When the Charter was signed, Congress authorized the President to commit armed forces as part of an international body. Besides, Obama's attempt to stitch together a multilateral alliance before turning to Congress doesn't violate a damn thing and only makes common sense.

One Vision lyrics
One man one goal one mission
One heart one goal just one solution
One flash of light yeah one god One Vision
One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision
Wowowowo gimme One Vision
No wrong no right
I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white
No blood no stain
All we need is one world wide vision
One flesh one bone
One true religion
One race one hope
One real decision
Wowowowo oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah
I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they've done to my dreams
So give me your hands
Give me your hearts
I'm ready
There's only one direction
One world one nation
Yeah One Vision
No hate no fight
Just excitation
All through the night
It's a celebration wowowowo yeah
One one one one...
One Vision...
One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision
Gimme one light
Gimme one hope
Just gimme
One man one man
One bar one night
One day hey hey
Just gimme gimme gimme gimme
Fried chicken
Just to irk the ignorant buffoons blindly adhering to medieval conservative ideologies who are so ignorant they think they are liberal:

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone.
Everything that I've got is just what I've got on.
When that sun is high in that texas sky
I'll be bucking at the county fair.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo I'll be there.

They took my saddle in Houston, broke my leg in Santa Fe.
Lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way.
Well I'll be looking for eight when they pull that gate,
And I'm hoping that judge ain't blind.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's on my mind.

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone.
Everything that I've got is just what I've got on.
I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine.
I ain't rich, but lord I'm free.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be.

I'm pretty sure you read far too much into what you thought you heard in that hotel because it's exactly what you wanted to hear.
Can you imagine if book where one of the characters explicitly talked about assassinating Obama?
That rodeo clown is getting death threats just for wearing his mask.
Carol, "Checkpoint" was basically a rambling conversation between two old friends in a hotel room, one who has been obviously pushed to the edge and wants to assassinate Bush and the other who tries to convince him that it's a really bad idea. They also discuss free-range chicken; Jay's various jobs, which include being a roofer and a lobster fisherman; Jay's opposition to abortion; Ben's career as a college professor; and Ben's struggle with writer's block. The two also touch on Vietnam, the CIA, weaponry and a vast assortment of conspiracy theories. It is in no way a how to book.
I heard what I heard Carol.

Good Morning again to all my topix friends!!!

As you all can see I have been up all night into the wee small hours maniacally judging your posts and chit-chatting back and forth to myself using many of my favorite sockpuppets!! A "labor of love" though tiring!! I had to change my depends three times last night but it was worth every diaper as it was challenging and exciting!!

I and most of my sockpuppets will be on board all day today making idiotic and mentally deranged comments, the sole purpose being to harass and feebly attempt to insult the legitimate posters who use this forum. I will also be judging your posts all day. I plan to be here for the entire day and night with my sockpuppets so get ready for an all out judgit blowout shitshow!!!! Please JOIN in!! I will give you a head start if needed.

I enjoy spending the day here giving out judgits to anyone who doesn't agree with me and I like to think I have full control of this thread!!! I consider it "mine"!!!!!!

PLEASE join me!
Warm and sincerest hugs!!! "Waxman"

As many of my topix friends are aware I have an endless supply of fake ip addresses and topix id's which I use every day of my life that I spend on topix. It helps to pass the time here living on the psych ward in Ct. where I am permanently confined. It keeps me busy and I feel I am doing something worthwhile with all my spare time. My psychiatrists' think it is good therapy and basically harmless. My entire life is spent in a fantasy world and I don't think it shows much compassion when you attempt to humiliate me on this particular delusion.

Please my friends, play along with me. I use fake "ip address's" as I have access to hundreds. You, here on topix, are my only friends, please don't ruin this for me. It's all I've got left.

Hugs, Waxman!!!!!!!!!!

On with the judgit competition!!!!!!!!!!

There must be a reason the White House offered to pay the cost of ObamaKare for Congress. Obviously, Democrats in Congress don't think it's worth the cost and is a bad deal, and they want to exempt themselves.
Why does every Democrat in Congress hate ObamaKare?
So, say you get health Insurance coverage thru BC/BS that your employer pays 75% of the cost. It is part of your benefit package.

So, your employer then decides instead to no longer use BC/BS & opts to go to Aetna.

Won't they still cover 75%?

The White House did not offer to pay, Congress did. They did it when they defined the employee benefit package. Congress also decided to switch from their current supplier options to the options in the exchange.

Obama had nothing to do with that. Republicans added that stipulation to the ACA & all the Democrats voted for that amendment.

You right whiners should really become better informed.

Here you are blabbing about the Middle East & possible US action.

At the same time, you promote the lie that Obama backed the Muslim Brotherhood.

It is a lie. You know it. So either provide some prove or STFU.

STFU?

Yep STFU.

The moe you right whiners present that lie, the more likely people in the Middle East might think it is true & hurt our position on that region.

But hey, what else would I expect from an Anti American clan like the Tea Party.

I know, you can press your Republican buddies to pass a resolution against military action in Syria unless Obamacare is repealed. That would be par for the course for the pathetic Republican/Tea Party.

A little something I'd like to share with my Topix family!!!!!!!!

A LITTLE MORE MASCARA

Once again I'm a little depressed by the tired old face that I see,
Once again it is time to be someone, who's anyone other than me.

With the rare combination of girlish excitement and manly restraint,
I position my precious assortment of pencils and powders and paint.

So whenever I feel that my place in the world is beginning to crash,
I apply one great stroke of Mascara to my rather limp upper lash.
And I can cope again, Good God! There's hope again!

When life is a real bitch again, and my old sense of humor has up, and gone
It's time for the big switch again, I put a little more Mascara on.

When I count my crow's feet again, and tired of this perpetual marathon,
I put down the john-seat again, and put a little more Mascara on.
And ev'rything's sparkle dust, bugle beads, ostrich plums,

When it's a beaded lash that you look through,
'Cause when I feel glamorous, elegant, beautiful,
The world that I'm looking at's beautiful too!
When my little road has a few bumps again,
And I need something level to lean upon,
I put on my sling pumps again,
And wham! This ugly duckling is a swan!

So when my spirit starts to sag,
I hustle out my highest drag,
And put a little more mascara on.
And ev'rything's ankle straps, Maribou, Shalimar!
It's worth socking in my gut, and girdling my rear.

'Cause ev'rything's ravishing, sensual, fabulous!
When Albin is tucked away, and, ZaZa is here!
When ev'rything slides down the old tubes again,
And when my self esteem has begun to drift,
I strap on my fake boobs again,
And literally give myself a lift.

So when it's cold and when it's bleak,
I simply rouge the other cheek,
For I can face another day
In slipper satin lingerie.

To make depression disappear,
I screw some rhine stones on my ear,
And put my brooches and tiara,
And a little more mascara on

Sparkle dust, bugle beads,
Ankle straps, Maribou...On! Ankle straps, Maribou,
Ostrich plumes, Shalimar,
Ravishing, fabulous, on! Ravishing, fabulous, on!

Hugs Waxman!!

PS, looks like I'm having another meltdown!!!!!!!!

It's a catch 22! I understand &, support the need for intervention in the civil war in Syria, in which America got the ball rolling in the first place but, in the hood, there's a saying " I got my mind right, money right, ready for war." America's not at a collective so, our mind's not right. We're also deep in debt so, our money's not right which leaves us incapable of war at this present time. Other countries recognize our weakness &, are doing their best to exploit them. You have to build home &, take care of home before you commit to such a thing. I think we should mind our business on this one. We're not strong enough to go to war with another superpower. Russia is backing Syria. This has the propensity to get very ugly!

Embracing misinformation on Obama

“Obama derangement syndrome is running pretty high right now among a certain segment of the Republican base,” Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, told me.“There’s a certain segment of people who say,‘If you’re going to give me the opportunity to stick it to Obama, I’m going to take it.’ ”

In other words, a large number of that 29 percent who said Obama was responsible for the Katrina response knew that he wasn’t but saw it as a chance to register their displeasure with the president. Obama has driven a large number of Republican voters — Jensen puts it at 15 to 20 percent of the overall electorate — right off their rockers. And to that, there is only one thing to say.

Heckuva job, Barry.

Yeah I noticed that this quote is a favorite of a lot of right wing web site who like you just throw it out without any understanding of the context or history attached to it.
In the period following the Civil War there were divisions among black leaders on how best to advance the rights of blacks. Booker T Washington's ideas were more on the line of "go along to get along" as opposed to WEB Dubois who advocated a more active and confrontational strategy. Washington was the architect of the Atlanta Compromise, an unwritten deal he struck in 1895 with Southern white leaders who had taken over government after the failure of Reconstruction. The agreement provided that Southern blacks would submit to discrimination, segregation, lack of voting rights, and non-unionized employment; that Southern whites would permit blacks to receive a basic education, some economic opportunities, and justice within the legal system; and that Northern whites would invest in Southern enterprises and fund black educational charities. Du Bois felt that African Americans should fight for equal rights, rather than passively submit to the segregation and discrimination of Washington's Atlanta Compromise.
They also differed in their approach to education with Washington of the opinion that black education should be limited to the industrial arts and agriculture while Du Bois felt that black schools should also offer a liberal arts curriculum (including the classics, arts, and humanities), because liberal arts were required to develop a leadership elite. Booker T Washington also didn't want to alienate his wealthy patrons like Andrew Carnegie who basically liked his accomodationist philosophy which relegated blacks to second class status.

That contribution my employer makes will soon be counted as income to me, and I'll have to pay taxes on it. This will give me less money to put into the real economy, and more money for the government to waste and put into the pockets of crony thieves.

President Barack Obama said in an interview published Tuesday that his signature legislative achievement would have been backed by Martin Luther King.

Ahead of Obama's address Wednesday that will commemorate the 50th anniversary of King's "I Have A Dream" speech, radio host Tom Joyner asked the President what the civil rights icon would have said about the new federal health care law widely known as Obamacare.

"Oh, he would like that," Obama said. "Well, because I think he understood that health care, health security is not a privilege; it’s something that in a country as wealthy as ours, everybody should have access to."
