The poll reveals that African Americans have an immense sense of pride in Barack Obama as President of the United States and he is unequivocally liked. He receives a 91% favorable rating. Seventy-two percent believe that President Obama's election has helped them while only 4% believe his election has hurt them.

African Americans believe that President Obama's election has helped them. A majority of those polled - 62 percent - are optimistic about employment in the next four years.

On the issue of employment, the poll reveals that thirty percent of respondents believe they are doing better off financially than compared to four years ago; however, the most recent jobs report shows an ongoing high rate of unemployment within the African American community. When polled on why African Americans believe Black unemployment is consistently double that of whites, responses include: failure of the education system for minorities, lack of corporate commitment to hiring minorities, and a failure of government policies for hiring practices.

The liberal media is so far to the left, they'd fall off a map if they were on the edge of one.
Studies have been done that prove the mainstream media gives very little air time to crucial stories - especially about wrongdoing in this administration - compared to other neutral sources.
Studies have been done to prove the mainstream media spends a disproportionate amount of air time reporting negative stories about conservative candidates than liberal ones.
UCLA is one of them - not exactly right leaning.

So why don't blacks vote Republican? The answer is simple. Black people are not crazy. Being not crazy, they understand a simple truth about conservatives: They have never stood with, or up for, black people. Never.

Forget modern controversies like mass incarceration. Social conservatives, then based largely in the Democratic Party of the early to mid-20th century, opposed the Voting Rights Act. They opposed the Civil Rights Act. They opposed school integration. They opposed the Montgomery Bus Boycott. They opposed a law to crack down on lynching.

These are the people for whom African-Americans are now supposed to vote? To make the argument is to betray a stunning contempt for the intelligence and memory of black voters.

In talking about race, conservatives have all the moral authority of a pimp talking about women's rights. Granted, "their" blacks might disagree.

"White" - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa and include people who indicate their race as "white" such as Irish, German, Scottish, Italian, Near Easterner, Arab or Polish.
Jews are considered "white" too.
It most definitely is time African-Americans walked side-by-side with whites as equals.
But Republicans don't want that. An educated and prosperous black community might start thinking for themselves and won't need the free stuff anymore. That's how they keep their votes.
Republicans are the ones cutting social programs that benefit whites, blacks, and hispanics, but support increased spending for the elite 1% of mostly white , male, wealthy Corporate CEO's.

Go back and read the posts from last night.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Better yet, read the article written by a liberal columnist, Mark Shields, after his interview with William Franklin "Burgie" Burghardt, one of the two black teammates on Reagan's college football team who he had invited to his parents' home when they were turned away from a hotel.
Burghardt eloquently testified: The Gipper was free of racial prejudice in his personal life."
http://www.noozhawk.com/article/112710_mark_s...
If you do read this, you either like being wrong or don't care if you are.
Reagan played football with one black player at Dixon HS and two black players at Eureka College (1929), Reagan was the product of progressive parenting and a progressive region of the US which likely explains his liberal thinking and lifestyle throughout the first half of his life.

By contrast, the first black player at Alabama was John Mitchell in 1971, well after Namath and Stabler had moved on to the NFL. BTW Namath often fought with his Alabama teammates over their disparaging remarks about black players on other teams.

Funny thing Carol, as much as you admire Reagan, he likely wouldn't have cared much for you

Because Republicans don't care. They want more spending cuts for schools , no public-private investment jobs creation programs or tax credit incentive programs for businesses to hire more workers and offer job training , cuts to family planning and health services for poorer , African-American, White, Hispanic , and elderly families,.. Does turning their back on the problems of the poor really the Republican solution?

You got it backwards again. Big employers love high unemployment because it keeps workers desperate to keep what paltry jobs that they can get , or accept too low wage jobs rather than risking a walk-out for better working conditions and a livable wage (until conditions get so bad that they're forced to strike.) The problem is that Big employers refusing to negotiate now with workers for better wages and working conditions only make the future more violent and chaotic.

Midway between the 2012 and 2014 election campaigns, moderate Republican conservatives are beginning to foment a revolt of their own a backlash to anti-spending tea party shrillness as budget cuts begin to significantly shrink defense and domestic programs.

Tea party forces may have dominated the House GOP's approach to the budget so far, but pragmatists in the party have served notice they won't stand idly by for indiscriminate spending cuts to politically popular community development grants, education programs and even Amtrak.
