Lois Lerner Headed for Prison?

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee.

The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group, the American Future Fund, before recommending that the commission prosecute it for violations of campaign-finance law. Lerner, the former head of the IRS’s exempt-organizations division, worked at the FEC from 1986 to 1995, and was known for aggressive investigation of conservative groups during her tenure there, too.

“Several months ago ... I spoke with you about the American Future Fund, a 501(c)(4) organization that had submitted an exemption application the IRS [sic],” the FEC attorney wrote Lerner in February 2009. The FEC, which polices violations of campaign-finance laws, is not exempted under Rule 6103, which prohibits the IRS from sharing confidential taxpayer information, but the e-mail indicates Lerner may have provided that information nonetheless:“When we spoke last July, you had told us that the American Future Fund had not received an exemption letter from the IRS,” the FEC attorney wrote.

The timing of the correspondence between Lerner and the FEC suggests the FEC attorney sought information from the IRS in order to influence an upcoming vote by the six FEC commissioners. The FEC received a complaint in March 2008 from the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party alleging that the American Future Fund had violated campaign-finance law by engaging in political advocacy without registering as a political-action committee. The American Future Fund responded to that complaint in June 2008, telling the commission that it had applied for tax exemption in March of that year and was a “501(c)(4) social-welfare organization that was organized to provide Americans with a conservative and free-market viewpoint and mechanism to communicate and advocate on the issues that most interest and concern them.” According to the e-mail correspondence, a month after receiving the American Future Fund’s response, the FEC general counsel’s office — which is prohibited under law from conducting an investigation into an organization before the FEC’s six commissioners have voted to do so — contacted Lerner to investigate the agency’s tax-exempt status.

The FEC general counsel’s office, in its recommendation on the case, apparently didn’t tell the agency’s commissioners about how it had obtained the information about the group’s tax-exempt status. Recommending that the commissioners prosecute the American Future Fund, the general counsel’s office wrote,“According to its response, AFF submitted an application for tax-exempt status to the Internal Revenue Service ... on March 18, 2008.” The footnote to that sentence reads,“The IRS has not yet issued a determination letter regarding AFF’s application for exempt status. Based on the information from the response and the IRS website, it is likely that the application is still under review.” In fact, an FEC lawyer knew that the organization had yet to obtain tax-exempt status because Lerner provided the confidential information.

And for what?
The Korean War was no picnic either. But South Koreans are free people today.

We didn't have the right strategy to fight a jungle war in Vietnam and Johnson called the shots from the White House instead of relying on his generals and didn't know when it became a hopeless cause. It was up to Nixon to end it. But I don't have anything nice to say about him either.

Iraqis risked life and limb to vote for their elected leaders after 40 years of oppression and tyranny.

They had a long way to go but, now that Obama has removed all troops too soon, Iraq will probably become another Vietnam.

Too sad but true.

The issues at hand are Obamacare and getting to the bottom of the lies and cover ups by this administration.

I am just as focused on the issues at hand as you are.

My opinions and beliefs about anything else are mine and aren't going to change.

Let's talk about the issues at hand that are going to affect us all in the here and now if something doesn't change.

If the progressive liberalism mentality isn't squelched, it might not just be the unborn who become an inconvenience, if you know what I mean.

If you want, we can review the system of lies the Democrats invented about Vietnam. How about it? Let's get some of those old lies going again.
Vietnam was just one of the many proxy wars of the Cold War. We could have made the decision to run away every time the communists showed up, until we are alone in the world and they are on our door step, which was the strategy they were employing.
It seems you need an education about how the US became involved in Vietnam.
Shall we begin?
You tell us when you'd make the decision to run away because the communists show up somewhere.
Let's start with Ho Chi Minh asking the Soviet Union to help him in the civil war he started.
If you want, we can step further back and review how Ho Chi Minh went to Paris and asked the French to return to Vietnam to force the Chinese army to leave after they monitored the removal of the Japanese army.
A good starting point is when Ho Chi Minh put Vietnam into the Cold War, though.
1955 Soviet Union petitions the UN to separate Vietnam into two countries, a heavily militarized communist north and an unmilitarized south. Immediately after the UN separates Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh invades Laos and Cambodia and uses the communist occupied territories there to stage insurgencies in South Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh increases his "influence" in South Vietnam by slipping into villages at night and murdering all elected officials.
South Vietnam asks the US for help.
The US becomes involved in Vietnam.
Shall we continue your education?
It was a noble cause that was hard to win. The North Vietnamese had underground tunnels and could appear and disappear from anywhere at any time. They would use women and children as human shields and hide in their villages.

It was difficult to tell who the enemy was.

But it was still a noble cause. And those who died to protect the vulnerable died nobly.

Have to disagree. Hawaii has almost endless resources pouring in from both the mainland and Asia in tourist dollars. Successful capitalist go there to play and invest in tourism. It's a liberal's dream ... living off someone else's money.

Rush Limbaugh N Word Fallout Continues as Major Fast Food Chain Leaves His Show

A day after Disney removed its Disney on Ice ads from the controversial Rush Limbaugh Show amid outrage over his use of a racial slur on the program, the dominos continued to fall.

If you live in the south, you're no doubt familiar with Bojangles. The ubiquitous Charlotte, NC-based chicken and biscuit chain has 500 locations sprinkled across 11 states.

Until today, Bojangles had been a regular advertiser on the Rush Limbaugh Show, sponsoring traffic on WBT-Charlotte nearly every day during the controversial program. And for months, the company had declined to respond to Flush Rush pressure that they remove the ads.

Apparently that all changed when Rush Limbaugh used the N word on the air last week.

Charlotte is a very diverse city, with 35% African American residents among its population. Today Bojangles took an ethical stand on behalf of those minorities and other targets of Limbaugh's rhetoric and issued this statement:

Thank you for your comment about our advertisements on The Rush Limbaugh Show. Respect for people of all genders, origins and beliefs is a core principle at Bojangles', and we would never knowingly participate in anything that could be considered offensive. When we buy radio advertising, we often do not select specific programming and have no knowledge of when our commercials will run – which was the case with ads that have run on the program in question. A number of our loyal guests have told us they were offended by some of the content on the program in recent weeks. We have looked into that content, and as a result we have taken the steps necessary to ensure our ads do not run on this program indefinitely. We hope you’ll continue to enjoy our chicken and biscuits, and we look forward to seeing you at Bojangles' again soon.
Sincerely,
The Bojangles' Team

Another southern staple is the grocery store chain Food Lion, also headquartered near Charlotte, with 1,100 stores across the Southeast. Food Lion ads recently ran on WBT-Charlotte during the Rush Limbaugh Show, and after contact by various StopRush volunteers the grocery giant replied today:

Thank you for contacting Food Lion. We are pleased to have the opportunity to respond.

I have researched and been advised that this was out of our control and we have told WBT to never let it happen again. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Again, thank you for contacting Food Lion.

The south appears to be rising again, although not in the sense the bumper stickers intended it. What we're seeing is a wave of "We're mad as hell and we're not gonna take this any more," as outraged citizens who are unwilling to remain punching bags for an obscenely wealthy Limbaugh continue to pressure advertisers to end their association (willing or unwitting) with on-air bigotry. Hatred is getting a little less profitable each day.

Howard Dean Admits Palin Was Right All Along About ObamaCare

Dean will probably come out and deny this soon!

There is more proof that the ObamaCare ‘death panels’ are alive and well. The former head of the Democratic Party, who also happens to be a medical doctor, is sounding the alarm. In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, Howard Dean calls out a “major problem” with the health care law, known as the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Sarah Palin, who warned against death panels in 2010, reacted on Tuesday night’s Hannity.

Sean Hannity broke down why this is important. First, a high-profile Democrat and one-time medical doctor is admitting that this board is a “health care rationing body.” Second, he pointed out that Dean is acknowledging that IPAB has the authority to “stop certain treatments.”

Finally, Hannity said it serves as another frightening reminder that the American people were misled by the president and other Democrats, including Dean, about ObamaCare. President Obama stated in 2009,“Every credible person who has looked into it has said there are no so-called death panels – an offensive notion to me and to the American people. These are phony claims meant to divide us.”

Palin said she hasn’t read Dean’s op-ed because she wasted too much time listening to “liberal pundits” a few years ago when they slammed her claim as “the biggest lie of the year.”
