If you are unwilling to read the court case you referenced and, instead, insist on quoting from biased sources, debating with you is an exercise in futility and a waste of my time.
One final time...excerpts from the Supreme Court opinion in Nestor:
“the right to federal social security benefits is a statutory, conditional right, which the possessor enjoys subject to all the conditions which Congress has attached and may attach.”
“The right to alter, amend, or repeal any provision of this Act is hereby reserved to the Congress”......“No contractual obligation on the part of the Government and no contractual right of a beneficiary could coexist with this reservation of power...."
“subject to amendment or repeal as Congress in its wisdom feels will best promote the general welfare"...
"Particularly when we deal with a withholding of a noncontractual benefit under a social welfare program such as this, we must recognize that the Due Process Clause can be thought to interpose a bar only if the statue manifests a patently arbitrary classification, utterly lacking in rational justification.”
Got it? Social Security benefits are not "property" but they a "noncontractural benefit". Yes, there is no money-back guarantee but Congress cannot arbitrarily amend it at will.
I doubt that any court would agree that the FACT that the government borrowed from the Social Security trust fund and can't pay back the debt is "rational justification" for doing away with Social Security.
Another thing there has never been a Social Security Trust Fund just on paper which the Clinton Adminstration admitted in their 2000 fiscal year budget that it is just an accounting practice since 1937 is all and all taxes collected by the US Federal Government go into the US Treasury General Fund just like Social Security taxes do which has been that way since 1937 when the SCOTUS handed down their ruling in Helvering v. Davis

<quoted text>Whatever do you mean? We are so proud even though Detroit is a city on the brink of ruination.
At the center of that ruination is 50 years of Democrat rule. A Democrat Jerome Cavanagh, brought the “Model City” program — fashioned after Soviet Union centralized efforts to transform entire urban areas at once — to a nine-square-mile section of the city. Using a commuter tax and a new income tax as his vehicle, Cavanagh promised residents “the rich” would pay for it all. Yet because people were being told by government how to run their businesses and their lives, in exchange for government goodies, the program ended up failing spectacularly.
In 1967, after police broke up a celebration at an after hours club, an enraged neighborhood began to riot, igniting the worst race riot of the decade. Black-owned business were looted and burned to the ground. Forty people were killed and 5,000 were left homeless, and the “white flight” out of the city center, totaling 140,000 people over an eighteen month period, ensued. The city was never the same.
Thank God we still don’t racially profile with Stop & Frisk. It is so wrong.
An unbroken series of Democratic mayors followed, all of whom had a hand in implementing the full panoply of progressive policies, highlighted by the giveaways to public service employees. Their outlandish salaries and benefit packages, coupled with highly inefficient work rules, killed the golden goose: the auto industry, and its attendant industrial community headed South, where lower taxes and right-to-work rules kept their businesses afloat.
The same swath of progressive policies destroyed the public school system as well. Perhaps nothing illustrates the corrupting influence of those policies better than the Detroit Federation of Teachers’ success in scuttling a $200 million offer by businessman and philanthropist Robert Thompson to build 15 charter schools in the city in 2003.
Ten years later, the Detroit Public School (DPS) system remains a cesspool of failure, corruption and bankruptcy and we couldn't be prouder.
Great post. Your cynicism is an art piece.

Remember STRESS?(Stop The Robberies Enjoy Safe Streets)

Police decoys would walk the streets posing as derelicts and drunks. When they were attacked, cops would move in to arrest.
Streets were becoming safer in Detroit as a result of STRESS.

Problem: ALL the arrests involved black males. The jails were full up with black males. So the NAACP stepped in, local black racist leaders and groups threatened riots and so STRESS was disbanded and the robberies went back through the roof to where they were before.

Trayvon has been on the Urban Reservation forever.

And we're proud of it:)

sounds like Congress could terminate Social Security at its discretion on these rather vague grounds...
exactly and Federal Government has already altered the origianl Social Security act which by law the Social Security tax was never suppose to be no more than 1% on the Employer and 1% on the Employer which now combined its is a 12.4% and proves its a SCAM which you cant blame employers for Off Shoring US jobs.

Philandering drug dealers are nothing compared to the wonderful Democrat criminals who've run Detroit.

And maybe the Detroit Model of socialist ruination can be used in other cities.

From 1974 to 1993, Coleman Young, who was subsequently revealed to be a member of the Communist Party, was mayor and failed to stem Detroit’s descent into chaos, and in 1992 his police chief was convicted of stealing $2.6M from city taxpayers. Michigan’s hard-left U.S. Senator Carl Levin was Young’s chief supporter, serving as Detroit City Council president.

Kwame Kilpatrick, who served as Mayor from 2002- 2008, represents the epitome of corruption and pled guilty to 2 felonies & no contest to a 3rd one receiving a sentence of 120 days. In 2010, he received a 5 yr sentence for probation violations stemming from his obstruction of justice conviction. Currently Kilpatrick, his father & his longtime contractor friend who got millions of dollars in city work, are awaiting a jury verdict on racketeering, bribery & tax charges that could send them all to jail for 20 yrs.

All of these policies & politicians have had their effect. In 2012, Forbes Magazine rated Detroit the most dangerous city in America. A Detroit News poll revealed that “Detroit’s crime crisis” has gotten so bad, a staggering 40% of its residents intend to leave the city within 5 yrs.

Another 2/3 say the city is on the wrong track. The poll also found that all of Detroit’s public officials were held in low esteem, except for Police Chief Ralph Godbee–who retired due to a sex scandal after the poll was taken.
Now 1 might think that those living in the epicenter of Democrat-inflicted misery for 50 yrs might consider changing course. One would be completely wrong.

On Nov. 6, Obama received 98% of the vote & the same night Detroit voters elected a convicted felon, Brian Banks, to serve in the state legislature. Other election results show overwhelming margins of victories for Detroit Democrats as well.

Thus, the self-inflicted misery continues, even as it is almost certain that Detroit’s Democratically-dominated city government will resist the efforts of Gov. Synder & the Republicans who run the state legislature, to keep the city from going under.

It is also likely that much of that resistance will be framed in racial terms, a theme that has already been stoked by U.S. Rep John Conyers (D-MI), who has represented Detroit for 47 yrs.“How come all of the jurisdictions put under emergency management are majority African American? Has anybody noticed that?” he wondered.

Here’s what some people have “noticed,” Mr. Conyers: the top 10 most dangerous cities in the nation are each led by a Democrat mayor.

Detroit residents have had 50 years to fix their own problems. They’ve elected Democrat after Democrat, bringing the city to the brink of bankruptcy. But thank God the good citizens of Detroit never allowed anyone competent or experienced like Mitt Romney or Rudy Guilani to turn things around.

You are always so uninformed. Guess your only source of news must be Fox.
Fox has continually ignored the fact the survivors have already spoken to investigators and that. as witnesses in an ongoing FBI investigation, there are very good reasons to keep them from speaking publicly. One of those reasons is so that stations like Fox can't sensationalize and distort things before the survivors have a chance to testify. It's not a cover-up, it's common sense. Of course, we all know that Fox only appeals to emotion...never common sense.
it is you that is so uninformed and you have proven that.

You'd have to make a definition of "directly involved" a little clearer.
Since we didn't have something like a Pearl Harbor attack, I'm guessing you think the Cold War didn't directly involve us, right?
Communism is trying to take over the entire world, and we're not involved, right?
This is a dodge, though. We still haven't touched on the Vietnam proxy war yet. So, in three posts, you will regurgitate a lie the Democrats invented about Vietnam.
"Directly threatened", you really can't read sheepdip.

Yes I take issue with the Cold War and the long since discredited Domino Theory.

I'm not dodging sht, I have no idea what sniveling crap you imagine you have up your sleeve, Vietnam did not threaten or attack us so the war was invalid IMO.

HARRISBURG - William Scranton Jr., a former Pennsylvania governor, presidential candidate and ambassador to the United Nations, has died. He was 96.

Mike DeVanney, a family spokesman, says Scranton died Sunday night of a cerebral hemorrhage at a retirement community in Montecito, Calif.

Scranton was Pennsylvania's 38th governor, serving one term from 1963 to 1967.

The moderately liberal Republican challenged conservative Barry Goldwater in 1964 during a brief, reluctant foray into presidential politics. Scranton committed to the campaign just a month before the national convention and lost the nomination to Goldwater by a 4-to-1 margin.

He was appointed ambassador to the United Nations by President Gerald Ford in 1976 and served roughly 10 months in the post.

He had a home in Waverly, Pa., just outside the city named for his family.

It's not directly related to this discussion, but something uniquely Democrat to bitch about is muslim terrorists in the White House every goddam day.
How about you just give us a reason to believe Obama isn't their guy when the institutions that caused the financial disaster gave so much money to him, it was only Christopher Dodd in the entire Congress they gave more to.
What did they get for their money?
