obama's 5,000-word address was long on broad language and scant on targeted solutions. It was long on its indictment of the Republican approach — an “endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals”— and short on how Obama intends to snap the economic funk.

Though Obama painted a rosy picture —“we’ve cleared away the rubble from the financial crisis and begun to lay a new foundation for stronger, more durable economic growth”— the facts on the ground remain grim.

The recovery from the Great Recession has been pitifully weak.

America’s economy has, these past four years, been growing at a lame 2%— the weakest rate after World War II.

Since the start of 2013, the number of people with jobs increased by 753,000 — but more than two-thirds of the new positions were part-time. The official unemployment rate stands at 7.6%, but factor in part-time workers who want full-time work and those who’ve stopped looking altogether and it hits 14.3%. About 22 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed.

If Obama intends to offer poll-tested proposals in hope of helping Democrats win congressional seats in the midterm elections, he will betray the very folks he promises to help by failing to deliver true growth generators.

Those include streamlining the U.S. patent office, nourishing high-tech industries, winning immigration reform and modernizing American infrastructure — not only the 100,000 bridges that Obama quipped “are old enough to qualify for Medicare,” but also the guts of America’s aging air-traffic control system.

Will July 24, 2013 be a decisive start on meeting the economic challenges of our time — or Obama’s umpteenth repositioning to make Republicans look obstinate? Only the President can answer that question.

That's easy! It will come from increased revenue from taxes generated by an economy that is growing despite an obstructionist Republican House.
Glad to help bring some light into your dark depressing life.
So, that 47 percent that doesn't pay taxes won't be paying taxes, and the only half of the country paying taxes will pay more taxes, right?
And they will pay one and a half trillion dollars more in taxes than they are paying now?

On this planet that is an impossibility. The only half of the country paying taxes don't have that much money if you taxed them at 100 percent and made them destitute.

So, the question remains unanswered. Your source of money doesn't exist, and the likelihood of it ever existing is about the same as winning the Power Ball lotery twice in a row.

What is the source of money? You have to identify an existing source of money, or a source of money that is actually possible.

Where will the money come from to pay for Obama's government?

News item: On Tuesday, the city council of bankrupt Detroit voted unanimously for a resolution condemning the Travon Martin verdict and calling for federal intervention in the case.

Get it? The city is bankrupt. It looks like a scene from the Walking Dead. City services are nonexistent. Crime is rampant.

What do the 100% LIBERAL SOCIALIST/DEMOCRAT COUNCIL MEMEBERS occupy their time doing?

Voting for a resolution on a criminal case in Florida.

See a pattern? We have unemployment over 7.5% for OVER FOUR YEARS and Lord Obama flies to Europe (a few weeks ago) to give speeches on how global warming is going to doom all of us.

We have a financial crisis with the federal budget, Lord Obama flies his family for a vacation in Africa, running up a $60-$100 million tab.

If this doesn't bother you, you're clueless.

No, that's not how it works. Real leaders don't come up with the idea of a sequester, sign it, make doomsday speeches to get his way and then blames the other side for standing their ground.
The majority of Americans wanted the sequester cuts to go even deeper.
The doomsday speeches/temper tantrums didn't work. He's punishing everyone now - closing the WH doors, cancelling traditional military events, hurting public servants such as firemen - as much as possible but hosts lavish galas at the WH, goes on lavish trips and plays golf with Tiger Woods.
No, this is not how it works.
Real leaders don't pitch a fit and pout because they refuse to work and compromise with those who represent the other half of the nation.
HEY STUPID! Obama didn't come up with the idea of sequestration. Paul Ryan has been pushing for it since 2004 and in fact wrote the legislation. Boehner said that he got 98% of what he wanted in the deal. On what do you base your statement that the majority of Americans want deeper cuts? When polled on individual programs like Medicare, Social Security, Veterans programs and defense most Americans want them to get the same funding that they currently receive.
What freaking lavish galas are you talking about Carol? The White House schedule is posted on line and I haven't found anything that you can call a gala, lavish or otherwise. Obama's trips abroad have been on the nation's business like his latest trip to Africa. But I guess you like the rest of the right wing idiots on this thread would rather cede that continent with its strategically important resources to China.
If you really want to talk about wasting taxpayer dollars then how about those symbolic, going nowhere votes to repeal Obamacare? Every time they indulged in this foolishness it cost taxpayers almost $1.5 million for a total of approximately $53.8 million.
Who's hurting public servants Carol? The original stimulus package kept firefighter, police and teachers on the job and not one Republican voted for it. Since when have you been so concerned about public sector employees hypocrite? It's clear to anyone who has at least a couple of brain cells that communicate with each other that the GOP is responsible for the gridlock, not the President.

Herman Cain Plays the Banjo for White Conservatives (Again)
For a political ideology that ostensibly embraces individualism and rejects the politics of group identity, grievance, and victimology, it is ironic then that Cain has to signal that he is a different type of black man from President Barack Obama. That Cain needed to explain to a Republican audience that black folks are individuals, and not a nameless, faceless, horde of negritude that all walk lockstep like zombies is frightening to say the least--and a damning indictment of those that Cain would call political allies.
....As opposed to expressing rage at racial injustice, Cain and others of his clan choose to express anger and consternation toward black and brown folk who are not Republicans--the ancestors and heirs to a struggle that won contemporary Black Conservatives their freedom--who they describe as still being on "the Democratic Plantation" or as "slave catchers" that run down "free thinking" black people. Once more, this is a tragic play on the stage of American life where in an oddly racialized version of Stockholm Syndrome, Cain and other Black Conservatives play the quislings to their White Conservative masters.

it's pretty funny watching you nutjobs following the FOX racism playbook. you all say the same things, you all think the same way, and you all defend those who have turned you into white zombies despite the fact that they are losing their hold on the narrative.

Lying is Illegal in Canada('s news broadcasts)

and how cool would that be? FOX would have to fire all of it's video editors!
Obama plays the banjo for communists in the Democratic Party. He puts on a tap dance that would make Sammy Davis Jr envious. He mesmerizes the Democrat dupes with prescripted prose he reads from the teleprompter.
Meanwhile, the entire world watches from the hill the figure of a smartly dressed Uncle Tom singing and dancing to an audience of dupes while a cadre of promoters stand behind the stage.

The world sees all the Obama buffoonery. Do you ever ask yourself why you don't see it?

I was pretty sure the math would be over your head. The 47% that don't pay "income" taxes DO pay "sales" taxes. They also pay "property" taxes, "gas" taxes, etc. There would also be more people paying "income" taxes if obstructionist Republicans would support Obama's jobs program. And there are more people raising that 47% figure adding additional "income" tax payers as the economy grows despite folks like you.

The only reason the growth in government was slowed is the TEA Party.
The so-called "sequestration" did not cut government spending. The government will spend more money this year than it spent last year. All the so-called "cuts" were lies. All that happened is money was taken from things like defense and education and redirected to increase the money for things like armed drones to bomb Americans and building a war machine in DHS to fight a war with the American people.
It's obvious what the priority and agenda of the Democrats are. They intend to take over the country, and fight a war with the American people if they don't just give it to them.
The only sane voice in DC is the TEA Party.

Yup, the arithmetic is over your head. It doesn't require math to figure out your source of money doesn't even have that much money to be taxed. Simple adding and subtracting will give you the answer that your supposition is an impossibility.
You need at least 1.3 trillion dollars in additional revenue to prevent the government from collapsing. What is the source for that 1.3 trillion dollars?

Where will the money come from to pay for Obama's government.

Another point:
You replacing full time jobs with part time jobs will have the opposite effect of what you're ludicrously promoting. Replacing full time jobs with part time jobs will increase the number of people not paying taxes.
Now, what condition will we be in when that 47 percent that don't pay taxes becomes more than half the country?

You need a source of money that can generate 1.3 trillion dollars every year to prevent the collapse of the government.

Where will the money come from to pay for Obama's government?
