If there’s one thing Fox “News” conservatives are good at, it’s finding new ways to blame President Obama for their own party’s policies. This 4th of July was no different.

This time around, Fox Republicans are blaming Obama for the financial hits from the Republican sequester that Obama kept telling Republicans would be a very bad thing and should not be allowed to stand. And note the racial resentment cherry on top of Fox Nation’s headline.“Obama Spends $100M on African Trip But Cancels Marines’ July 4th Fireworks.”

Just how disingenuous of a title is that for the AP story? Well, in the story it clearly spells out that the boom is gone because of budget cuts and furloughed fireworks. Who is to blame? The AP says,“The failure in Washington to follow up a 2011 budget pact with additional spending cuts meant $85 billion across-the-board cuts that began in March. Budgets tightened, the military took a major hit and many federal workers absorbed pay cuts through forced furloughs.”

It is Republicans in the House who refuse to begin the process of budget reconciliation, so… that leaves a finger pointing right at Republicans unless you work at Fox “News”. President Obama has been warning the nation about the then impending sequester since at least February.

Even Speaker John Boehner admits that President Obama didn’t want the sequester cuts. We got here because Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling to pay for their spending. The threat of sequester be added into the Budget Act of 2011 in order to force both sides to compromise when the time came. The time came, and Republicans refused to compromise — or rather, Speaker Boehner couldn’t get his Tea Party caucus to compromise with the Speaker’s own proposals. House Republicans refused to raise a dime of revenue.

And here we are, still waiting for House Republicans to be willing to sit down with the Senate to begin budget reconciliation because- oh, they cared so much about the budget, they cared so much that they had to bring this country to her knees and ruin her credit. But now that the budget depends upon them, meh. Budget schmudget. Did you hear about Obama’s Africa trip? IRS! Benghazi!

Nowhere in this story did the AP mention Obama’s Africa trip, which by the way was not a vacation, and that $100 million number is an estimate off of a Washington Post story based on the Secret Service’s estimate of previous president’s trips which claimed that it could cost between $60 and $100 million. Furthermore, although it’s the meme of the moment for the jingoistic Republicans, all presidents’ trips to Africa are expensive. First Lady Laura Bush went five times, and even took a safari.

If anyone canceled the fireworks, it is House Republicans, many of whom championed sequestration for years before they actually managed to make it happen in what they called a victory.

This is what happens when a party doesn’t really stand for anything but stirring up anger and resentment at Others. Eventually, they’re left holding nothing other than decaying turds of transparently empty and willfully ignorant rage now known as their “platform”.

And you think this virus or bacteria survives in the seed? That seems highly unlikely.

By the way, the fact that you don't know whether it is a virus or bacteria, two entirely different things, weakens your argument.

Why doesn't the government ban this deadly killer, just as they ban large soft drinks and tasty burgers?

Washington (CNN)-- Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked the No.1 item on the president's congressional "to-do-list," refusing to allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that "insource" jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad.
.
The method Republicans have used to block all jobs legislation in the past two years is the same. A jobs bill comes up, it is filled with positive things for the economy, Republicans filibuster debate, this shields them from having to make floor speeches on why they don't want tax breaks for small businesses... etc.
Why? Well, if the economy recovers too strongly before an election, Republicans will lose power. If jobs numbers look too good, people will want to keep the same party. By Republicans blocking all jobs legislation and keeping jobs numbers from improving they believe this is their ticket to power.
All "tax breaks" are bad and should be eliminated.

There is no tax deduction for moving jobs abroad.

White House to Weigh in on a Cruising Tesla

Tesla is winning.

The famed American luxury electric car start-up has been battling entrenched auto dealership interests over whether it should be permitted to sell its cars directly to consumers, instead of going through the long-established and much-bemoaned independent dealership system. Well last week, it scored a major victory in its fight against the rent-seeking dealers, as a North Carolina House committee removed language from a bill that would have prevented Tesla from selling to North Carolinians.

The corresponding Senate committee had previously passed the language unanimously, leading to concerns that the local political clout of auto dealer interests would strangle Tesla in its infancy, as the low-volume start-up has little to gain from trying to get gas-powered dealers to sell its competing technology. However, after a brilliant couple months of news for Tesla, including a near-perfect score from Consumer Reports, and after the speaker of the House and Governor McCrory were taken for spins in the new Model S, the restrictions are dead for good.

Coming on the heels of that victory, a pro-Tesla WhiteHouse.gov petition recently crossed the 100,000 signature threshold to compel a White House response. As Will Oremus notes,”Tesla critics like to point out that the Tesla Model S’s $70,000-plus price tag puts the car out of reach for the average American. But the success of the White House petition makes clear that it isn’t just wealthy Model S owners who are rooting for the company.”

That criticism was always ill-founded, because Tesla Motors has always been more than a luxury car company. It is a “halo” product for Silicon Valley, American manufacturing, the car industry alike, as well as an actual embodiment of many of the platitudes that politicians heap on American business. What is quite possibly the best car in the world is conceived, designed, and constructed in America. In that light, the green subsidies and discounted Department of Energy loans may well be justifiable not on free-market grounds, but as a national greatness project.

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/white-...

This is a development we should all be able to celebrate. For all the (legitimate, to my mind) hand-wringing that can be done over the future of civil society amid increasing direct sales, it is rare to have the chance to celebrate American manufacturing success or a failure of crony capitalism, much less on the same day.

It's Christians who are under attack by secularist progressives. Not Muslims.

It's why those of us who detest intolerance of any kind and know what mass intolerance leads to because of the lessons of the past cannot let our guard down even for a minute.

This is how it begins. Marginalizing any threat to power and control.

What's even more worrisome is the number of liberals just on here whose complacency and selective tolerance have proven their intolerance towards Christians and yet tolerance towards Muslims.

This is how it also begins. Complacency and selective tolerance.

We were led to believe by the liberal media Zimmerman was literally in hot pursuit of Trayvon that night. The liberal media also decided this was going to be a racially charged case deliberately misrepresenting the facts.
Surprise.
The jury will know all the facts when all is said and done. We're beginning to see an entirely different picture than what the liberal media drew from their overactive imaginations already.
Total bullshit! You're beginning to see things the way you've wanted to see them all along. Because Rachel Jeantel has a deficiency in reading & comprehension, her testimony is null & void? Bullshit! Her timeline of the events from that night syncs perfectly with the time span of the phone calls. When Jeantel's story has inconsistencies, she's lying! When Zimmerman's story has inconsistencies, he was filling in the blanks, huh! Zimmerman has already been proven a liar numerous times. The prosecutor's witnesses seem to be trying to blow the case. The medical examiner was led straight into a lie. You get shot in your heart, trust me you're not moving at all &, you won't live for longer than 2 mins tops. He recanted on his statement that you can't move after being shot and the heart. You claim Trayvon should've kept going home. He was caught 20-30 yards from his house, proof he was on his way but, if someone stalking me got too close, I'm going to confront them too. You're not going to catch me with my back turned. Like I've always said," I hope Zimmerman gets off. He got a price on his head & the streets is hungry. Justice will be sought whether, the streets or the system. Either way it's gon be a life sentence!

the tolerant....

Greg Quinlan, an “ex-gay” activist who is slated to speak at the Family Research Council’s “Ex-Gay Pride Month” event later this July, told his personal story yesterday to Bradlee Dean and Jake McMillan of Sons of Liberty Radio.

Quinlan told the radio hosts that he once was a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign —“As I put it, what the Devil turned me to do I can now use for the Lord”— and it was during his time volunteering for HRC that he learned that Justices Anthony Kennedy and Elena Kagan are secretly gay. Kagan and Kennedy, Quinlan insisted, are “black-robed Nazis” who seek to “accommodate their own personal predilections, including their own sexuality.”

“Mr. Kennedy has a predilection on the down low,” Quinlan said, channeling Pat Robertson.

He added that President Obama is also “a down low president.”

Selective Fundamentalism in North Carolina

Something tells me the North Carolina legislators who suddenly (in order, it seems, to prevent the kind of protests their brethren in Texas are encountering) popped a let’s-shut-down-the-abortion clinics bill onto unrelated legislation would not see the irony in their choice of a Shariah Law bill as the vehicle. Yes, having resolved to protect the Tar Heel State from the entirely imaginary threat of Islamic theocracy, the solons figured they’d show the world what home-grown theocracy looked like.

Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit here, but the belief of many antichoice activists that they are engaged in “spiritual warfare” against demonic hordes promoting rebellion against the Ordinances of the Almighty is pretty hard to ignore. As we speak the Wingnutosphere is aflame with allegations that pro-choice protestors in Texas are chanting “Hail Satan” to counter the hymn-singing of the pro-life godly. Once again, an appreciation of irony is not a strong suit for conservative activists.
