Barack Obama, our next President

"Auntie Mame" written by Marion Tanner's nephew , Edward Everett Tanner III ,under the pen name,Patrick Dennis , is being shown on the Turner Classic Movies Channel tonight. I remember being taken to a Broadway showing of Auntie Mame as a child growing up in the 1960's. It was one of my most memorable trips to New York City and Auntie Mame remained my favorite musical comedy to date. The real life Bohemian Salon matron of the arts and humanities ,Marion Tanner passed away in 1985. I like to reminisce about her life and spiritual vitality on sultry , storm-threatening summer nights like tonight. "NEW YORK — Marion Tanner, 94, self-described as ``the ultimate Greenwich Village eccentric`` and the apparent model for the madcap fictional character Auntie Mame, has died. She had suffered a stroke two months ago.
Known as one of Greenwich Village`s most colorful inhabitants, Miss Tanner bought a red brick house at 72 Bank Street in 1927, and for many years it was a haven and salon for struggling artists, writers, freethinkers, radicals and a wide spectrum of what Miss Tanner sometimes called ``Bohemian types.`" ..."Miss Tanner was born March 6, 1891, in Buffalo. She was graduated from Smith College and became an ice hockey instructor--the sort of thing a Mame might do.
She studied psychology and psychiatric methodology with Erich Fromm and Karen Horney, and received a master`s degree in sociology from New York University.
Miss Tanner devoted much of her life to caring for children from broken homes, and, although she had none of her own, she always had homeless children living with her.
Miss Tanner also taught in private schools, did social work and was a volunteer at Greenwich House, a children`s center. In the 1930s she worked as an arbitrator and mediator with the National Labor Relations Board."[ http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1985-11-02... ] We need to remember Marion Tanner, "Auntie Mame" in these treacherous, bourgeois times that we're enjoying in our current times.

What is the rationale for free birth control and zero reimbursement for erectile dysfunction, other than gender bias?
Both allow the person to have sexual intercourse.
No it's not gender bias, it's economics moron. The cost for insurance to provide contraception is a pittance compared to the costs associated with pregnancy. Contrary to your statement health insurance policies do provide coverage for erectile dysfunction meds albeit with a co-pay. These meds are just a big con job anyway, offering a quick fix rather than dealing with the underlying cause mostly hypertension. That might actually call for lifestyle changes like cutting back on the burgers and fries, eating more fruits and veggies and getting more exercise.

Being reminded again of the gross incompetency and deliberate lies on the part of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the wake of what must have been unimaginable fear and brutality for four Americans who were abandoned after their distress calls were ignored and their security removed distresses me greatly.
Hillary Clinton does not deserve to hold any office in the government. Her incompetency in the unbelievable timeline of documented events left four Americans dead.
This president does not deserve the office or the title representing our nation and our military. Levers available to him to prevent the deaths of these Americans on 9/11 were not pulled.
Because of Benghazi alone, I pray for the day to come when he is removed from office.
God help us! A Carol clone spewing Carol crap! Or maybe it's Carol inventing another persona.
Reinforcements were sent from Tripoli when word was received of the attack but by that time it was too late and there were no military assets that could have arrived in time.
No dimwit Obama will not be removed because of Benghazi.

The sheer insanity of it all is the unfortunate outcome that the magnitude of the incompetency and the number of constitutional violations has diminished them into one big blur.
The silence on the part of the propagandists has dangerously condoned the magnitude of incompetency and abetted the number of constitutional violations.
We simply cannot let the insanity lead to more insanity by complacency and confusion.
We cannot lose sight of each and every infraction that, standing alone, is very possibly an impeachable offense.

Need to read a bit of History,
Once in power, Hitler moved quickly to end German democracy. He convinced his cabinet to invoke emergency clauses of the constitution that permitted the suspension of individual freedoms of press, speech, and assembly. Special security forces—the Gestapo, the Storm Troopers (SA), and the SS--murdered or arrested leaders of opposition political parties (Communists, socialists, and liberals). The Enabling Act of March 23, 1933--forced through the Reichstag already purged of many political opponents--gave dictatorial powers to Hitler.
Also in 1933, the Nazis began to put into practice their racial ideology. The Nazis believed that the Germans were "racially superior" and that there was a struggle for survival between them and inferior races. They saw Jews, Roma (Gypsies), and the handicapped as a serious biological threat to the purity of the "German (Aryan) Race," what they called the master race.
Jews, who numbered about 525,000 in Germany (less than one percent of the total population in 1933) were the principal target of Nazi hatred. The Nazis identified Jews as a race and defined this race as "inferior." They also spewed hate-mongering propaganda that unfairly blamed Jews for Germany's economic depression and the country's defeat in World War I (1914-1918).
You can't fake history
All right, I think I've read enough to determine that this is our old friend Carol adopting another screen identity so that she can spew the same old lies.
Let's compare your Tea Party with the National Socialist Brown Shirts shall we? The Brown Shirts were outwardly a grassroots movement but in reality were being funded and directed by wealthy industrialists like the Krupp's and Siemens. They scapegoated groups like the Jews, gays and the unions .
The Tea Party, outwardly a grassroots movement is funded by the Koch brothers through Americans for Prosperity which even the Romney campaign described as the "financial engine" of the Tea Party. They also have scapegoats like Muslims and just like the Nazis gays and labor unions.
Who put the Nazis in power in Germany Carol? Ignorant bigots just like you.

After the killing of American officials in Benghazi, Libya, Issa accused then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of giving false information to Congress when she said she wasn’t involved in denying the Libyan diplomats’ security requests. He also said that it was “perhaps the White House” that later changed talking points to make it appear that the assault had begun as a protest.

It turned out Clinton wasn’t involved in the security decision and the White House wasn’t behind the change in the talking points.

Then came the IRS. Instead of delivering on Issa’s promise to reveal politically motivated harassment of conservatives by the Obama administration, the committee instead turned up evidence (including the account of a “conservative Republican” who managed IRS screening) that the actions weren’t political.
The most Issa et al. can hope to prove now is that conservatives were hassled by the IRS more than liberals.

Following on yesterday’s 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that Hobby Lobby can continue its lawsuit against the Obama administration’s contraception mandate on religious grounds, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma ruled today that the federal government must halt all enforcement of the mandate (and related financial penalties) against the Christian-based company.
Hobby Lobby and sister company Mardel are suing the Department of Health and Human Services and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, arguing that to force the company to pay for health insurance that must offer abortion-inducing drugs, as well as sterilization and contraception, is a violation of its religious liberty.
In his order issued on Friday, U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton said the “court concludes plaintiffs [Hobby Lobby] have made a sufficient showing to warrant the issuance of a temporary restraining order in the circumstances existing here."
"Accordingly, the defendants [Sebelius and HHS], their agents, officers, and employees are temporarily ENJOINED and RESTRAINED from any effort to apply or enforce, as to plaintiffs, the substantive requirements imposed” by the mandate," said the judge's order.
When you enter the commercial realm you can't use religious reasons to violate the law. This was established in US v Lee in 1982 where an Old Amish sued the government for a refund of Social Security taxes he paid on behalf of his employees. The court held that he wasn't obligated to pat these taxes for himself as a self employed carpenter but he was obligated to pay them for his employees even though they themselves were Amish.
The owners of Hobby Lobby cannot impose their own narrow rules on their employees.
A Hobby Lobby opened up in a local mall and I gave it a walk through and found that there was nothing there I couldn't get in other businesses even in the same mall.

(Lost one post already so hope this one doesn't post twice.)
The contradictions in this president's words is so glaring, it's amazing it hasn't been picked up and turned back on him.
He keeps inferring that al Qaeda is on the run. If the threats of terrorism have diminished, then why is the government building a huge expansive complex to house NSA in the middle of nowhere and Americans' privacy still being infringed upon?
This quote is as disturbing now as it was when Obama first made it after he was first elected:
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
So if terrorism is not the threat it once was according to this president and, yet, Americans' are still being spied upon to prevent another terrorist attack and Obama's enemies have already been targeted by the IRS and, because Obama believes we need a "civilian security force" that is "just as powerful as the military", there's something a bit unnerving and glaringly contradictory about this president's perception of who and what is a national security threat.
The truth of the matter is this president believes by his own words and actions that the biggest threat is from within - not from without.
He has made it quite clear that some of us are his enemies and some of us are his friends.
The good news is that we all know it now.
Oddly enough, the most obvious things are sometimes the hardest to see because seeing would be too hard to grasp.
History has proven it.
You're full of crap as usual Carol. The data gathering is being done, as I've said before, within the framework of the law enacted by a Republican Congress and signed into law by George W Bush. This data consists of phone numbers, their source and their destination. Only when a phone number is connected to a known terrorist source is there any further action which requires a warrant. People give up more privacy when they swipe their loyalty card at the local supermarket. Just because Al Qaeda has been diminished doesn't mean that they're incapable of more attacks stupid and the best way to prevent these attacks is to monitor who their talking to. Your assertion that Obama is using these programs to monitor anyone else just proves that you're riding the Crazy Train big time.

You made a whole bunch of statements without anything to back them up.
First, the head of the investigation overpromises.“This was a targeting of the president’s political enemies, effectively, and lies about it during the election year so that it wasn’t discovered until afterwards,” Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said in May of the IRS targeting scandal. He later declared President Barack Obama’s press secretary a “paid liar” for stating otherwise.
Next, facts emerge to undermine the investigator’s presuppositions. Documents released by Ways and Means Committee Democrats last week show that the IRS, in addition to targeting tea party groups, also had “Be on the Lookout”(BOLO) lists for groups using descriptors such as “progressive,”“health care legislation,”“medical marijuana,”“paying national debt” and “green energy.”
Finally, evidence surfaces that the investigator stacked the deck. Last Tuesday night, the Hill newspaper quoted a spokesman for Treasury’s inspector general, Russell George, saying the group was asked by Issa “to narrowly focus on tea party organizations.” The inspectors knew there were other terms, but “that was outside the scope of our audit.”
Certainly, something went badly wrong at the IRS that caused groups to be targeted because of ideology. But it’s nothing like the conspiracy Issa cooked up.
The White House deserves some of the blame for letting things get this far; a full release of information by the administration at the outset would have put the controversy to rest quickly.
But the collapse of the Issa-driven scandal has reinforced a growing impression in the capital that ultimately will help Obama: The chairman is full of it.
When I covered President Bill Clinton’s second term, White House officials were delighted to have the eccentric Dan Burton in charge of the House Oversight Committee. He gained prominence by shooting a melon to try to prove that Clinton aide Vince Foster hadn’t killed himself but had been murdered.
Now Issa has fallen to Burtonian levels of credibility. He’s launched a dozen or so probes, but what often begins as a legitimate inquiry turns quickly into a lunge for the Oval Office, missing each time.
Even before the Republican victory in 2010 gave him the chairmanship, Issa announced the discovery of “Obama’s Watergate”— the White House floating an administration job for a Democratic congressman to keep him out of a Senate primary. Issa backed off after learning that the Bush administration had done similar things.
Shortly before the 2010 election, Issa told Rush Limbaugh that Obama “has been one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times.” He later said Obama isn’t “personally corrupt” but his administration is.
Issa then set out to prove it. He led a probe into the failed “Fast and Furious” gun sting by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Issa declared that “it went all the way to the White House,” insisting that the plan was approved “at the highest levels of the Obama appointees,” and that the Justice Department “has blood on their hands.”
The Justice Department inspector general determined that Atty. Gen. Eric Holder didn’t even know about the program until after it was shut down.
After the failure of Solyndra, a government-aided solar company, Issa probed Department of Energy loan guarantees, saying “I want to see when the president and his cronies are picking winners and losers ... that it wasn’t because there were large contributions given to them.”
