Barack Obama, our next President

Dickhead is not a word that should come out of your mouth, given how frequently it goes in! I'm not going to go the rounds with you again. I've never been the type to pray on the weak or, kick a man woman while they're down. Live your life, I'm happy for you. It's sad tho, that this is the issue that you devoted your life to. Could've been something that would actually help the future (children), not hinder!

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as "Obamacare," what is now called alternative medicine may become as accessible and widely accepted as conventional care.
The controversial act specifically mentions complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and integrative healthcare in seven different sections throughout the law. This is thanks in part to the efforts of the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium, a coalition of major organizations started at the request of legislators in Washington devoted to the promotion of CAM and integrative healthcare in the U.S. It covers nothing I do to stay healthy.

Despite signs that the recent correction in stock markets may have stabilized, investors remain cautious.
"It still feels as if markets are simply looking to catch their breath after all the excitement of the past week, and so it is perhaps unwise to suggest that two days of positive trading make a trend," said Chris Beauchamp, market analyst at IG.

Depends how one defines "polluting."
Modern coal fired plants remove particulates, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides.
One could easily argue that solar power plants cause far more permanent damage to the environment because of the vast amounts of land involved and their frequent location in desert areas that have very fragile ecosystems that cannot recover once disturbed.
Wind turbines also have significant environmental effects, including killing large numbers of protected bird species.
And the negative effects of hydropower projects such as the Three Gorges Dam in China are obvious.
Like I said, you are entitled to your opinion. IMO, coal fired plants are far more damaging to the environment than solar power or Wind turbines.

Don't forget, the plans for almost 70 new coal-fired power plants were cancelled under the Bush administration (not to mention the 30 or so cancelled in 2008 as a result of Bush administration policies.) IMO, that is a good thing.

Out of the 1,466 coal-fired power plants in the United States, only 125 were built after the 80's. IMO that is a bad thing.

Just my opinion, you don't have to like it.

DemocRATS rejoice!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

Uh-oh. The U.S. economy suddenly looks weaker, after the government revised its data for the first quarter.

Gross domestic product -- the broadest measure of economic activity -- rose at a mere 1.8% annual pace between January and March, marking a sharp downward revision from the 2.4% pace reported by the Commerce Department last month.

Community Reinvestment Act had nothing to do with subprime crisis
Fresh off the false and politicized attack on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, today we’re hearing the know-nothings blame the subprime crisis on the Community Reinvestment Act — a 30-year-old law that was actually weakened by the Bush administration just as the worst lending wave began. This is even more ridiculous than blaming Freddie and Fannie.
http://www.businessweek.com/investing/insight...
Your article omits to mention that a stricter version of the 1977 CRA was enacted by Bill Clinton in 1995. This renewed and toughened CRA gave federal regulators the authority to severely curtail the activities of a bank if the bank fails to follow this act. The next tightening step occurred in 1999, when Bill Clinton signed into law the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act which further expanded the reach of the CRA. From 1995 to 2004 it is a mere 9 years. A large majority of the subprime loans was granted under APR mortgage terms. That is, a very low interest rate is offered for the first five years of the loan. After these five years, the interest rate is no longer fixed and rises sharply. The inital low interest rate was necessary for the banks to sell enough subprime loans and not get criminalized under the CRA. The house owners usually get in trouble when the interest rate rises and they can no longer afford the loan. Therefore, there was a five-year lag after the introduction of the tightened CRA before the first problems started to appear. Furthermore, new loans were granted over many years, and the remaining four years after subtracting the lag do not appear that long anymore. When the tightened 1995 CRA by Bill Clinton is considered, the notion that the CRA is the root cause of the subprime mortgage crisis no longer appears silly.

Next, the article claims

... that 50% of subprime loans were made by mortgage service companies not subject comprehensive federal supervision and another 30% were made by affiliates of banks or thrifts which are not subject to routine supervision or examinations.

Please consider the exact wording. No comprehensive federal supervision. Does this mean that the CRA law still applies and is just not supervised and enforced? What about the banks and thrifts which are not subject to routine supervision or examinations? Do they act unlawfully just because of a lack of supervision? Is this the path recommended by the author? First, the text of the CRA applies to all regulated financial institutions - these are banks, insurance companies and their subsidiaries.

Second, please note that no real statistics are provided.

...I like the part about the court's errors springing forth from the same diseased root - not just the exalted conception of gay marriage in America but, in my opinion, the liberal judges.
But some of you will be thrilled to know dozens of Republicans added their names to a paper known as a friend-of-the-court brief that argued that gay marriage promotes the conservative values of stability and mutual obligation.

It was the House Republicans that made taxpayers pay for their defense of DOMA, dingbat!!

Hate to break it to you but in a lot of homes they are already there. Computer cameras, laptops, security cameras, etc... Think about it. If you can watch your daughter walk in the front door from your phone who else can watch the same thing? After the NSA outing you should expect that you are being listened to and being watched at all times. This is however not about just the government but anybody who wants to check you out..

It looks like the liberals on the Supreme Court subverted Democracy again. First the rule California voters do not have the right to deny same sex marriage, but now they say it's up to the states.

Typical lawless Democrats in action. This SC is a circus act. Totally dysfunctional and not functioning as intended. They do not rule on law, they are nothing more than a political group now.
