A high schooler who can't be removed from the classroom is much more difficult to deal with when teaching a classroom of high schoolers - which my sister had to deal with - than an effective discipline system in an elementary classroom - which is much easier to do.

So what would you do with a high schooler disrupting your classroom who thought they were beyond being disciplined and you had no support system whatsoever?

This should be interesting anyway.

While people of color, individually and as groups, have been helped by affirmative action in the subsequent years, data and studies suggest women— white women in particular — have benefited disproportionately. According to one study, in 1995 six million women—the majority which were white— had jobs they wouldn’t have otherwise held but for affirmative action.

Another study shows that women made greater gains in employment at companies doing business with the federal government, and therefore subject to federal affirmative action requirements, than in other companies—with female employment rising 15.2% at federal contractors but only 2.2% elsewhere. And the women working for federal contractor companies also held higher positions and were paid better.

Even in the private sector, the advancements of white women eclipse those of people of color. After IBM established its own affirmative action program, the numbers of women in management positions more than tripled in less than 10 years. Data from subsequent years shows that the number of executives of color at IBM also grew, but not nearly at the same rate.

Gender war backfires as men ditch Australia PM

AFP - Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's attempt to marginalise the opposition by claiming it would change abortion rights and sideline women has backfired with a poll on Monday showing male voters are deserting her.

Gillard, the country's first female leader, last week reignited a simmering gender war by saying in a speech that government would be dominated by "men in blue ties" should opposition leader Tony Abbott assume office in September elections.

"It's a decision about whether, once again, we will banish women's voice from the core of our political life," said the embattled prime minister in the speech, desperate to shore up waning support.

"We don't want to live in an Australia where abortion again becomes the political plaything of men who think they know better."

But the ploy has backfired with a poll in Fairfax Media showing male voters are abandoning Gillard and the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and there is little sign of more women getting behind her.

The telephone poll of 1,400 voters found that since the last survey a month ago Labor's standing has continued to slide, led entirely by a seven percent exodus of men.

Under a two-party vote, the conservative opposition would romp home in the September 14 elections with 57 percent (up three points) to 43 percent (down three points) for Labor.

Labor's primary vote, which strips out the support of minor parties, has slumped to just 29 percent with the opposition at 47 percent -- a huge lead which would wipe out 35 Labor MPs, the poll showed.

Pollster John Stirton said the swing against Labor occurred only among men.

"Labor's primary vote was down seven points among men and up one point among women. The ALP two-party vote fell 10 points among men and rose two points among women,'' he said.

But the poll, taken between Thursday and Saturday, showed that if Gillard's arch-rival Kevin Rudd was returned as Labor leader, their primary vote would be a much more competitive 40 percent to the opposition's 42 percent.

Rudd was ruthlessly ousted by Gillard in a 2010 leadership coup but he remains hugely popular.

The Sydney Daily Telegraph reported Monday that Rudd has told colleagues he will not challenge Gillard again unless key cabinet ministers support the move after he failed in a bid to unseat her in 2012.

The unmarried Gillard has often been the subject of jibes about her gender, clothing and private life and she won global acclaim last year for comments on misogyny, claiming she was sick and tired of dealing with alleged sexism from Abbott and the opposition.

The fact that Fascists like Obama would deny folks their Constitutional rights based on their political beliefs is exactly why gun confiscation legislation failed. The IRS scandal is proof.
There was no gun confiscation legislation you damned liar. The legislation was for expanded background checks which would make it harder for criminals and those adjudicated to be mentally unstable to get guns. The gun industry doesn't want that because all they want to do is sell all the product they can and they don't care who buys them.
There's no IRS scandal either. The IRS is required by law to check out if an organization applying for a 501(c)(4) status fulfils the necessary requirements. You seem to forget that only progressive organizations were denied tax exempt status.

The median wealth of white households is 20 times that of black households. Researchers found that the exact same resume for the exact same job application will get twice as many call-backs for interviews if the name on the resume is “Greg” instead of “Jamal”. School districts spend more on predominantly white schools than predominantly black schools. The fact that black workers earn, on average, 35% less than white workers in the same jobs isn’t erased by the election of an African American president, one who, by the way, openly praises the role of affirmative action in his life and accomplishments.

As for Abigail Fisher, there is ample evidence that she just wasn’t qualified to get into the University of Texas. After all, her grades weren’t that great and the year she applied for UT, admissions there were actually more competitive than Harvard. In its court filings, the University has pointed out that even if Fisher received a point for race, she still wouldn’t have met the threshold for admissions. Yes, it is true that the same year, UT made exceptions and admitted some students with lower grades and test scores than Fisher. Five of those students were black or Latino. Forty-two were white.

AND THEY COME ON TOPIX PRETENDING LIKE THEY ARE EDUMACATED THEY DONT EVEN QUALIFY FOR Affirmative Action

<quoted text>No, liberals want the government to 'leave the kids alone'. Teachers have always been the primary disciplinarians in the traditional classroom. When the state intervenes by sending in the police or hires private armed guards to patrol the school corridors it undermines the authority of teachers for maintaining an orderly environment where learning can take place . In that context, young people are smart enough to know who they need to obey and who they can safely afford to ignore. It's the person with the big gun not the person with the book who gets the respect now.
The unions are just strong arms of the Democratic Party and liberal administrations.

Teachers' unions set the tone in public schools and there are more liberals running the show.

Social Security is a tax, not a pension plan.

Teachers should be required to pay into Social Security and be allowed to collect both pension benefits and Social Security.

There is no logic to support teachers evading this onerous tax.

You Tea Party people are all mouth, no guts.
So, Obama and the administration are preparing for a war with the American people, and you say something like "Quit threatening armed insurrection & just do it."
The armed insurrection is probably part of the Democrats' plan. They are gathering the arms now, and it's no secret they plan an insurrection against the constitutional republic.

So, what are the Democrats waiting for?
Oh, yeah. We have to have some event that calls for Matial Law.
Well, Obama is allowing every Wahhabist terrorist in Saudi Arabia to come to the United States with "special traveller" status, which means no questions and no scrutiny. You remember Saudia Arabia, don't you? It's the place where 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 came from.
How about all these terrorists Obama is bringing into the country join and create terrorist cells all over the country, then do something like the communists did in South Vietnam in 1968. That would be enough to declare Martial Law, wouldn't it?
If it coincides with an election, the election can be "postponed"... forever.
We have two elements at war with the United States in the White House that have no respect or allegiance for anything written in the Constitution, which includes the requirement that the president serve only two terms. Communists aren't going to give up that level of power they've achieved. Muslim terrorists aren't going to give up that level of power they've achieved.
The only way we'll get those frauds out of the White House is to physically evict them.

The Democrats are too full of themselves to not doing it, and too ignorant to avoid doing it.
It should be obvious to everyone the Democrats intend to eliminate the Constitution.
It should be obvious the Democrats are preparing for a large-scale war with the American people.
It should be obvious the Democrats' economic agenda will collapse the government.
Just connect the dots to predict the future.
I do believe we will fight another war over the principles of limited government and individual liberty in this country. The Democrats think so, too. That's why Janet Napolitano is buying more weaponry than 90 percent of the countries in the world have.

The federal surveillance programs revealed in media reports are just "the tip of the iceberg," a House Democrat said Wednesday.

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) said lawmakers learned "significantly more" about the spy programs at the National Security Agency (NSA) during a briefing on Tuesday with counterterrorism officials.

"What we learned in there," Sanchez said, "is significantly more than what is out in the media today."

Lawmakers are barred from revealing the classified information they receive in intelligence briefings, and Sanchez was careful not to specify what members might have learned about the NSA's work.

"I can't speak to what we learned in there, and I don't know if there are other leaks, if there's more information somewhere, if somebody else is going to step up, but I will tell you that I believe it's the tip of the iceberg," she said.

Sanchez's remarks on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" came a day after House lawmakers were briefed by national security officials on clandestine data collection programs.

The briefing was meant to convince lawmakers that the surveillance programs are legal and necessary in fighting counterterrorism — an argument President Obama and other administration officials have made.

Lawmakers demanded the briefings after revelations last week about the NSA's collection of phone records and Internet data, and Sanchez said lawmakers were "astounded" by what they heard.

"I think it's just broader than most people even realize, and I think that's, in one way, what astounded most of us, too," Sanchez said of the briefing.

ABC News: Girl gang violence at Philadelphia school.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/video/girl-gang-viol...

And there's plenty more where that came from.

In a series of annual publications produced jointly by the National Center for Education Statistics, Institute of Education Sciences in the U.S. Department of Education, and the Bureau of Justice Statistics in the U.S. Department of Justice, data show that there were 33 school-associated violent deaths from July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. In 2010, among students ages 12-18, there were about 828,000 nonfatal victimizations at school which include 470,000 victims of theft and 359,000 victims of violence (simple assault and serious violence). In 2009-10, about 74 percent of public schools recorded one or more violent incidents of crime, 16 percent recorded one or more serious violent incidents, and 44 percent recorded one or more thefts.
