Whether Carol is "depending" on Social Security or merely trying to get back her tax money is really none of your business.
Most schoolteachers are retired from teaching before age 62 because of overly generous pension plans, and assuming they do not take other full-time employment, cashing in on Social Security at 62 is a no-brainer.
By the way, the average schoolteacher makes more net in retirement than while working, considering pension plus SS, plus not paying SS or retirement, and in some states no state income tax on the pension.

A great deal!

That really didn't make any sense.
Are you saying Barack "Hitler" Obama would be more familiar?
Obama is a radical liberal with a Muslim middle name and, even if we weren't at war with radical Muslims, he would be the wrong leader at any time.
For you, it would seem so.

WalMart announces that they will build an additional 53 Neighborhood Markets in Virginia.

In other news the existing Burger King in front of the old Belo's store will be torn down to increase the parking lot size for the Market. The old Rally's, that has been closed for 5 years will be torn down also but a new, bigger Burger King will replace it. This following McDonald's tearing down and rebuilding their outdated store across the street. Good things happening because of WalMart.

leo is a moron. You can collect from 401K and SS at the same time.
In some states, you can collect from unemployment and SS at the same time.

Plus, at age 66 or so you can earn a large salary and still collect SS.

You (and Carol) need to research the fact that STRS/PERS plans do not allow "double dipping" into SS...why doesn't she have any retirement build up in them from her distinguished careers as a "nurse" or a "teacher"? If you guys were not such Grumpy Old Pricks (emphasis on Old), you might know laws passed after 1950...

Really? How 'large' of a salary son?

I'm assuming your position is based on NO reduction of SS benefits.

<quoted text>Has Batty Loo ever explained why with her two "professional" careers she is still depending on SS at 62? Didn't she do any research into that?(And, yes, Yeah, I am being most sarcastic.)
I will be more than glad to explain the obvious.

After leaving the teaching profession, I lost all benefits including a 401k. They don't keep giving you benefits if you're no longer in the profession. But I did receive a lump sum from my accrued 401k of 10 years minus taxes.

When I started my new career 15 years ago and went part-time a few years ago, again, I forfeited all benefits in lieu of still being on my husband's insurance and knowing he has an excellent 401k - which is now in jeopardy after Obama collapses the dollar once and for all - but is usually the case for many couples and families.

So is everything a little clearer now?

The Trentadue Case: A Coverup That Won't Stay Covered
By Paul Craig Roberts on December 2, 2003 at 2:00am
CNN recently reported that "the Justice Department is re-examining its investigation into the 1995 death of a federal prisoner that the victim's family alleges was murder at the hands of the government."

The victim was Kenneth Michael Trentadue. At 7 AM on August 21, 1995, officials from the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's office arrived at the new Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center for the body of a man recently picked up for parole violation who allegedly was a suicide by hanging. The astonished state officials saw a body with scalp split to the skull in three places, throat slashed, and a body completely covered in blood, bruises and burns.
