Line up of what voters consider the TOP in seriousness of the recent scandals
"At the moment, 35 percent of voters consider recently exposed National Security Agency surveillance efforts as the most serious. The Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservatives is No. 2 on the list, followed by concerns about the Obama administration's handling of the incident in Benghazi last fall in which the U.S. ambassador to Libya was murdered. The Justice Department's secret probe of reporters' phone and email records is seen as the top concern by only 9 percent. "

Here's a scandal:

Why is the House wasting time and money working on a bill restricting abortion that has ZERO chance of passage? Because they get to campaign for the 2014 midterms on MY dime.

Someone explain to me the apparently indivisible connection between "Taxed Enough Already!" and abortion.

This is how our government "creates" jobs.
In the 50's we orchestrated a coup to overthrow the democratically elected President of Iran and installed a US friendly dictator in the form of the Shah. Once the locals got tired of the tyrant and overthrew him we harbored him and froze offshore Iranian assets. Once the hostage crisis was resolved we went on to impose sanctions.
So, american cars are very popular in Iran. Smuggling replacement parts to keep the pre-1979 american car fleet running is big business. Iran has 75 million potential customers that the US government has closed off to us because ... I'm not really sure.
Iran held a presidential election yesterday and out of a field of six candidates the people chose the one moderate. I think they're sending us a signal but don't think for a minute that I believe our government and electorate aren't stupid enough to pass it up.

It's not so much the monitoring of phone numbers to find the bad guys but the legitimate concern of spying on political enemies.

The information that first came out described him as a magistrate judge. Apparently, this was incorrect.
But since that's been cleared up...
Why did Holder go "judge shopping" to illegally confiscate a journalist's emails and phone records?
Why did Judge Lamberth overturn the first two judges' refusal to give Holder permission to break the law?
These are two indisputable facts. Got answers?
What took you so long to call out the government for possible abuses of power and rule of law?. You're looking vindictive and resentful at the right wingers losing the 2012 elections because 'the time for the right wing to make these arguments was probably 2004, not 2013.Check this out: http://emptywheel.firedoglake.com/2010/07/13/...

Ya know, a First Responder who's Emergency Response doesn't show the slightest understanding of Maritime Domain Awareness just reflects poor Emergency Management and what does that say about broader concerns like Homeland Security and our National Preparedness in general. Like I was telling my friend Joe who's a Hostage to grilled meats about this Standoff I was having with the wife about pork or beef on the BBQ; he saw that as a Threat to my masculinity and a Breach of marital trust. Whatever, gonna throw some scotch on Ice and Crash before I end up in total Blackout.

No Snow or Sleet in the forecast, that's a Relief not having to worry about being Stranded/Stuck and having to Shelter-in-place on the way to work tomorrow huh?

Black Forrest Fire

This video contains good info for people in fire zones such as stacking all your flammables in one big pile rather than having them scattered and creating numerous fires.

What amazed me with the video is the fire fighters waiting for the fire to approach them within a few feet before reacting in order to conserve resources.

So, i some schools kids will learn that cavemen rode dinosaurs, the planet is only 10,000 years old, there is no such thing as evolution, the civil war was not about slavery, Slavery was a good thing for black people, and we can pump pollutants into our atmosphere at increasing levels forever & not affect our climate.
Teaching at the elementary levels requires an understanding of child psychology. There are proven methods that are far more successful than popping your kid in front of a computer.
There is nothing wrong with the public school system. The problem lies in the home. Ay kid that applies himself will get a good education.
Dumbass Dave missed the point that Galt supports public education, controlled at the local level, while recognizing the rights of parents to educate their children themselves. Galt believes that relatively few parents possess that ability.

Republican attempts to limit voting got people to the polls and standing in lines for up to 8 hours in Florida.

Republicans have problems with minorities, immigration, rape and a few other issues.

Bipartisan support for NSA

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Sunday strongly defended the recently exposed U.S. surveillance programs, which he helped craft in the aftermath of 9/11, but sharply criticized President Obama for his handling of a range of issues from the Syrian civil war to the Benghazi terror attacks.

Cheney, a Republican vice president from 2001 to 2009 under the Bush administration, told “Fox News Sunday” the National Security Agency-led programs have to remain confidential to keep the information from enemies and that he and other U.S. intelligence officials were concerned about a nuclear attack.

“It was 19 guys with box cutters and airplane tickets,” but the next time it could have been a “nuclear attack,” the 72-year-old Cheney said.

He said former NSA contractor Edward Snowden exposing the gathering of information of phone calls and emails has done “enormous damage” to the United State’s anti-terror programs and called Snowden a “traitor.”
