<quoted text> Carter’s treatment of the Shah of Iran was his crowning achievement in his war against the United States and the stability of the world as a whole.
In 1901, a British Millionaire negotiated with Shah Mozzafar al-Din to allow him to prospect for oil in Persia for 60 years. In exchange, the Shah received about $2 million and 16% of future profits. The actual discovery of the first oil field was in 1908 and from then on Iran became the world’s top producer of oil with various European nations and the United States joining the British in running, and tapping the profits from, the oil fields. But at the same time the economy of Persia soared. True the Shah became rich. But he also cared for his people.
In the fifties American relations with Iran grew stronger and more confident under the Shah’s son who succeeded him. They courted the younger Shah as he continued to make Iran free and prosperous and at the same time made the United States more prosperous than ever. It was a win-win situation for the leaders and the people of both countries. In 1964 President Lyndon Johnson declared “What is going on in Iran is about the best thing going on anywhere in the World.” The trade in oil to fuel American motor cars caused a great deal of the prosperity that helped the United States recover from the war and take her place and the leader of the free world.
In the 1970s the Shah’s wise rule brought Iran to the position of being a power for good in the Middle East. His European education caused him to want to keep the Muslim clerics at bay and enact several modernizing changes in the age-old system of the country. These included rights for women and for ethnic and religious minorities and would probably have continued into a state of full democracy. But this infuriated the Islamic Fundamentalists who wanted to keep their chokehold on Iranian life.
The American administrations of Nixon and Ford stood shoulder to shoulder with the Shah in his fight to put down Islamic rebellions and offered him everything but nuclear weapons. Jimmy Carter toasted the Shah during a Tehran State visit on New Year’s Eve 1977 and declared that Iran was “an island of stability in one of the more troubled areas of the world... the Carter administration had been undermining the Shah’s regime by demanding that he make major reforms immediately and not wait for more stability.
The Shah was forced to rule with strength and determination for the sake of the whole free world. But Carter did not have the intellectual ability to understand such things. He just thought that everybody should be nice and make friends. Eventually by use of threats to curtail aid payments and arms Carter forced the Shah to release many radical fundamentalists and terrorists from his prisons and they quickly came together to form the mob who finally brought down the Pavlavi dynasty and replaced it with the terrorist leaders we see today in Iran. Soon the mob of terrorists had multiplied so many times it was impossible for the Shah to continue to govern and he was forced to step down.
Enter Hostage crisis. The whole world knew that Carter would never stand up to the Muslim mob in Tehran but the day before Ronald Reagan became President and Carter left the White House, the mob let the hostages go. They knew a real president in the United States would never stand for what weak-kneed Carter had allowed.
Worldwide revolution of fundamentalist Islam
But Carter’s moral weakness not only unleashed the horror of the present regime in Iran. He also began the worldwide revolution of fundamentalist Islam on the rest of the world. The so-called Arab Spring was born in Tehran and spread underground to the rest of the Arab, Muslim world.
Learn some history lily. Carter was a moron like you.
Where did you find this fkn fairy tale?

Flagging someone BECAUSE they had "Tea Party" in their name is what got the IRS in trouble.

BIG PROBLEM with your slant-the pesky little IG report that stated the IRS was targeting conservative groups.
You cannot do an end run around that report with anecdotal claims of some groups being rejected.
You still don't get what happened in Benghazi do you?
State Dept REFUSAL to provide requested security.
INACTION by all depts on the night the four US citizens were killed.
DENIAL that it was a terrorist attack and feet dragging that allowed those responsible to escape from justice.
Yes, I am aware that the IRS was targeting tea party groups, however, I am also aware that the man responsible for it is a conservative republican...

WASHINGTON (Reuters)- A U.S. Internal Revenue Service manager, who described himself as a conservative Republican, told congressional investigators that he and a local colleague decided to give conservative groups the extra scrutiny that has prompted weeks of political controversy.

In an official interview transcript released on Sunday by Democratic Representative Elijah Cummings, the manager said he and an underling set aside "Tea Party" and "patriot" groups that had applied for tax-exempt status because the organizations appeared to pose a new precedent that could affect future IRS filings.

Cummings, top Democrat on the House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee conducting the probe, told CNN's "State of the Union" program that the manager's comments provided evidence that politics was not behind IRS actions that have fueled a month-long furor in Washington.

"He is a conservative Republican working for the IRS. I think this interview and these statements go a long way toward showing that the White House was not involved in this," Cummings told CNN's "State of the Union" program.

I am also aware that facing budget cuts, imposed by the Republican controlled house, officials in the State Department developed a mindset to reduce spending...

Funny how you throw around the IRS report, but completely ignore the IG report on Benghazi that identified the people responsible, and the issues. Those issues are being addressed and the people reassigned.

One burning question no one seems to want to ask, Ambassador Stevens knew of the situation in Benghazi, was warned of the security risk, but chose to go anyway. WHY?

Politically, Syria is friends with Iran so Russia is protecting them.
Politically, Iran is a nemesis to the US and the US would like to see the Iran supporting country fall into control of a group less favorable.
Now for the rub -most of rebels are associated with terrorist groups.
Of all the entities that you mention, which is the greatest threat to the US?

Yes, desperate indeed sonic-Kool-Aid drinker. Your talking points are silly and ridiculous, just an example of you Democrats politicized the war after they spewed rhetoric getting us into the war in Iraq.

Don't believe me though, leftard. Just humor me and listen to what Madeline Albright and other Democrats said. Then try and spin your way out of their responsibility. You should also remember that the Senate Democrats also voted 29-21 to use force in Iraq:

<-- MUST VIEW, then spin

"Resolution sharply divides Democrats

The Senate vote sharply divided Democrats, with 29 voting for the measure and 21 against. All Republicans except Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island voted for passage"

Hypocrisy Overload: Dick Cheney Calls Edward Snowden a Traitor
Dick Cheney helped mislead the country into invading Iraq and has been convicted of war crimes, but he thinks Edward Snowden is a traitor.
....What the former vice president left out of the conversation was that Snowden would have never had access to classified information without the explosion of the private contractor intelligence industry after the Patriot Act was passed. Without the Patriot Act, Edward Snowden may not have been in position to access classified information.
Cheney was part of an administration that fabricated intelligence in order to mislead the country into invading Iraq, so I don’t think he has any room to be tossing the traitor word around.
The former vice president’s capacity for hypocrisy is astounding. Ultimately Edward Snowden is responsible for his own actions, but the policies of Bush/Cheney administration opened the door for this to happen.
The word traitor is being thrown around almost as often as the term whistle blower, but I am not comfortable with either description. The facts are that Snowden is a leaker, who definitely committed crimes. If Edward Snowden did pass intelligence to the Chinese, he is a traitor and a spy.(Interestingly, if Snowden did or does pass information to the Chinese, what does that make Glenn Greenwald?)
