Barack Obama, our next President

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep," Obama cautioned. Young and charismatic but with little experience on the national level, Obama smashed through racial barriers and easily defeated ... Full Story

There are wise business and political leaders who understand the great importance of 'being there' and pressing flesh, email and the web aside.
In this sense, Local libraries still have great potential for the Real McCoy interactions of humanity and what they have to offer. Libraries are much more or *can* be much more than just public repositories of books, magazines and videos.
Kids can be read to on Sundays in groups. Why can't they just read to themselves at home on a computer? Well, they can but they'd miss the laughter, the shared emotions and the education, the nurturing of their emotional intelligence.
Libraries should never be allowed to die.
Parents can and should read to their own children.

Libraries are obsolete, except maybe as historical artifacts.

I just have a problem with folks laying claim to God and God's intentions. It's like someone trying to sell tickets to a beautiful sunset or Love. No one should profit financially or otherwise from a naturally occurring event. Someone finds the DNA snippet for, say, brown eyes and wants to get a patent on its discovery? Another person finds the Bible, reads it, finds the contents to be appealing and decides to profit from it.
I saw the life story of John Merrick again last night(Elephant Man) and I will admit that my eyes teared up and my throat closed tight many times during my watching it. People paid money to view his agony and even to add to it with pokes and mean laughter.
In this same vein of deviant opportunism, I place the users of God who gain at the expense of pain in others. It is spiritual usury.
Wow. Now you're sounding like a non con.

Just because you CAN'T quote and need 'guess' at your saying really doesn't make you superior in the least.
I have no inconsistencies like you, son.
After all, I had a quote AND a source.
You certainly can't say the same, let alone come close to being that accurate!
I can quote Shakespeare to impress people even though I may have no clue what the hell is being said inside my Copy-n-Paste.

This is what you are attempting and it falls flat, Mr. Jerk.

Hang it up. Try quoting Larry Flynt like lily does. At least she understands what the hell she's quoting(I think).

You STILL can't tell me what was in that long Copy-n-Paste of yours. You are like the little kid in the 500th row of the baseball stadium quoting Francis Scott Key while belting out pregame: "Jose' can you see?...."

It is written that all things become clear at the moment of death.

Hang in there, Dood. In the meantime, though, don't talk through your underpants.

Yes, I do agree it does ADD to the budget.. in my case, the state.
But I certainly appreciate it being in my neighborhood and enjoy seeing all the people who use it. In fact, one of my pet peeves is seeing parents carrying 10, 20, 30 or more books for their elementary school kids and taking so long to check those books out!
But it's refreshing to see them getting away from the electronics.
In my state, I can borrow any book from any library located on any island, and return it to any of the state facilities regardless of where I borrowed it. They have videos and CD for a nominal charge and are pushing forward with electronic documents and books.
No, I embrace our system and enjoying using it's resources.

Parents *SHOULD* do a lot of things but increasingly don't. Families gathered at the Supper Table is a rare occurrence today. How many parents actually read to their kids? How many parents can actually participate in the sexual education of their children without a judge, school, SCOTUS or trash celebrity intervening?

And when any culture changes, it is important that those cultural artifacts not worth keeping are tossed. But it is equally important that those cultural artifacts worth keeping are NOT tossed. Libraries can be an island of neutrality and calm inside a cultural storm of historical proportions.

There is no greater threat in the world than Al Qaeda.

The Russians recognize the threat of radical Islam and Galt is willing to cooperate with them to stamp out this disease.

The choice between the Russians and Al Qaeda is simple.

Don't insult me with your partisan BS.

Black & White are the extremes of a very gray reality.
We rarely encounter them.

But when we do, it is important to recognize them.
Liberals don't. Can't.

"... last month’s revelation that IRS agents had singled out Tea Party groups for special scrutiny. Here was an issue that seized public attention and posed a legitimate threat to Obama. Since then, nobody in Congress has pushed harder than Issa to pin the scandal on the White House.

But after a burst of attention, Issa’s investigation appears to have stalled. Although he turned up embarrassing material—has any government official been humiliated quite like the IRS commissioner in the dorky video dressed up as Spock?—Issa hasn’t made the all-important connection to the White House. And he may not be able to. The news this week that he won’t release the full transcripts of his interviews with IRS officials—interviews he selectively quoted from to imply White House complicity—suggests that what they contain may in fact exonerate the administration of the very charge Issa is laboring so hard to prosecute." http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-06-...
