Assad has nothing to gain and everything to lose by "slaughtering the entire civilian population."<quoted text> Now you're making up stuff Galt & putting words in my mouth. First of all, I'm not naive enough to believe that Al Qaeda is the main force in the war going on in Syria against Assad & his regime. Al Qaeda may be aiding in the fight but, thus war didn't start with Al Qaeda. Civilian rebels of Syria & the Assad regime started the conflict so, it's not Al Qaeda's war.
Secondly, Russia has been aiding tyrannical regimes, saying America to interfere. The Assad regime are tyrants. Without interference, they will likely slaughter their entire civilian population. Again, I guess you're cool with that huh Galt?
On the other hand, if Assad slaughters all the Islamic radicals, including Al Qaeda, that's a big plus for the US.
The idea that there are democratic rebels in Syria who have any chance of prevailing in the government is as ridiculous as it was in Egypt and Libya. If Assad falls, what will follow will be worse.
