FROM Beth:

A Tourist walked into a Chinese curio shop in San Francisco. While looking around at the exotic merchandise, he noticed a very lifelike, life-sized, bronze statue of a rat.

It had no price tag, but was so incredibly striking the tourist decided he must have it. He took it to the old shop owner and asked, "How much for the bronze rat ?"

"Ahhh, you have chosen wisely! It is $12 for the rat and $100 for the story," said the wise old Chinaman.

The tourist quickly pulled out twelve dollars. "I 'll just take the rat, you can keep the story".

As he walked down the street carrying his bronze rat, the tourist noticed that a few real rats had crawled out of the alleys and sewers and had begun following him down the street. This was a bit disconcerting so he began walking faster.

A couple blocks later he looked behind him and saw to his horror the herd of rats behind him had
grown to hundreds, and they began squealing.

Sweating now, the tourist began to trot toward San Francisco Bay Again, after a couple blocks,
he looked around only to discover that the rats now numbered in the MILLIONS, and were squealing and coming toward him faster and faster.

Terrified, he ran to the edge of the Bay and threw the bronze rat as far as he could into the Bay.

Amazingly, the millions of rats all jumped into the Bay after the bronze rat and were all drowned. The man walked back to the curio shop in Chinatown .

"Ahhh," said the owner, "You come back for story ?"

"No sir," said the man, "I came back to see if you
might have a bronze Democrat."

Actually, I find your post very funny. It reminded Reminded of a 2006 article attacking Bush and the Republican controlled House for bullying the press.
"If the government employees who leaked the classified information can be identified, they should be prosecuted. They signed an oath agreeing not to disclose government secrets. But members of the press made no such pledge. If the government is incompetent in keeping secrets, the media, in a free society, should not be prosecuted for publishing them. It is much less dangerous to an open society to try to prevent government employees from leaking than it is to prevent the press from publishing the leaks."
"In reality, the resolution, passed just before the celebration of U.S. independence from autocratic oppression, was aimed at intimidating a free press—a major component of American freedom..."

It takes common sense to understand that veterans who suffer from post-tramatic stress disorder shouldn't be in possession of assault weapons. Only a low-information Con suffering with tunnel vision would consider that "bullshit" and unAmerican. Geez

DUH Like when Bush was slapped down by the Supreme Court for some of his Administrations interpretations of the law??
You're a fool. It will end up in the courts, without your biased simplistic opinions.
----------
Supreme Court Rules Against Bush Administration, Resurrects Habeas Corpus
"In what might be the most important decision made by the Supreme Court of the United States during the Bush Administration, five justices ruled in Boumedienne v. Bush on Thursday, June 12, that the United States government did not have the right to suspend habeas corpus, or legal due process.
The government effectively did this through the passage of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, a legal measure meant to bolster an original executive order signed shortly after September 11, 2001, that gave federal authorities the power to detain suspected enemy operatives indefinitely without recourse to legal process and a trial. The Military Commissions Act of 2006, the passage of which was led by Sen. John McCain, specifically denied Guantanamo detainees the right to petition federal courts on grounds of habeas corpus.
In a scathing rebuttal of Bush administration policy, the Supreme Court maintained that the detainees had the same basic rights as anyone held in custody by officials of the United States. In its 70-page decision, the Court noted: "Security depends upon a sophisticated intelligence apparatus and the ability of our Armed Forces to act and interdict. There are further considerations, however. Security subsists, too, in fidelity to freedom's first principles. Chief among these are freedom from arbitrary and unlawful restraint and the personal liberty that is secured by adherence to separation of powers... "
----------
Obama and Holder are laughing at you nitwits.
Compared to the many scandals Bush had, from lying about Iraq to waterboarding to renditions to losing Supreme Court cases, Obama doesn't have time to catch up with Bush's corruption.
Remember when the Supreme Court ruled against Bush when he and Cheney had their staff deny subpoenas from Congress??
Bush lost the case.
You're an idiot. And I will point out the corruption of Bush and Co. as you rant on about pure nonsense stuff.
Bush used the IRS to harrass his enemies. AS did Reagan and especially Nixon. Nothing new here.
It's just that it's ok when Repugnants do it, but you come unglued when Dems do it.
For you, Bush-Bashing is more fun than holding a Jig-Saw to your weeny.

Comical little boy that you are:)

I don't disagree but that has nothing to do with my post. WikiLeaks wasn't even an issue in 2006. Federal Prosecutors did, however, confirmed that it was Bush and Chaney that authorized the release of classified information in the case of Valerie Plame and the Iraq invasion under the guise of personally "declassifying" the documents prior to release. Are you really that brain dead??? That isn't what she said at all. You have obviously been brainwashed by Hate Talk Radio. Get help.

This is the DIRECT QUOTE of what she said in regards to ASSAULT WEAPONS...NOT GUNS IN GENERAL:

Feinstein, March 7, at a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee discussing an amendment to her gun control bill that would exempt retired military from the so-called “assault weapons” ban::

"If I understand this, this adds an exemption of retired military. As I understand our bill, no issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was in effect and what we did in the other bill was exempt possession by the United States or a department or agency of the United States. So that included active military.

The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this.

So, you know, I would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but I think we have to– if you’re going to do this — find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally don’t have access to this kind of weapon."

Even though, according to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), PTSD sufferers are already prohibited by law from owning guns...any guns... IMO, Feinstein was certainly within her rights to voice her concerns. Especially since she stated she was willing to sit down and discuss the matter. Cons are always too fast to accept lies as truth.

God Bless every single one of these peace officers! We've been so beaten down this last several years that this story brought tears to my eyes because maybe, just maybe, there are some willing to stand up for the law abiding, Constitution loving, Country loving, true American citizens (black, white and everything in between). It's been hard to find very many of these heros in congress/senate, lawmakers, or the judicial system lately to stand for everyday citizens who just want to be left alone to live their lives in freedom, to help their families, work hard, worship as they see fit (or not), contribute to the groups or charities of their choice, & just enjoy life to its fullest without being molested by control freaks somewhere in power who send out their useful idiots to attack them. Again I say, God Bless these Sheriffs and Peace Officers. I think all of them should deputize citizens in their counties that want to participate and who have no criminal records or mental illness. What a difference it could make.

Sheriffs are normally elected and therefore must be responsive to the people.

Police are union-organized civil service agents of the state and cannot be removed by the people. As a result, they abuse their authority, knowing that they are safe from any public objections.

We need more elected sheriffs and fewer arrogant police.
