Point is, Joplin has cost FEMA a fortune. As will Moore, OK.

"The powerful tornado that struck Joplin was the deadliest such twister in nearly six decades and may have caused as much as $3 billion in damages as it flattened schools, businesses and houses in its destructive path, experts say.

While insurance firms will pick up much of the tab for rebuilding insured structures, federal, state and local governments will have many other costs to cover. Typically, the federal government pays 75 percent of the emergency costs of responding to such declared disasters , with state and local governments covering the rest.

But the tornado-related expenses in Joplin are likely to be so high that both of Missouri's U.S. senators Sens. Roy Blunt, a Republican, and Claire McCaskill, a Democrat urged Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano in separate telephone calls Wednesday to increase the federal share as high as feasible.

"I am asking for 100 percent federal reimbursement to local governments," Blunt told reporters Thursday. "They've agreed to 75 percent,[but] I think they have to come to a better number than that." A spokeswoman for McCaskill said the senator had also asked Napolitano for a higher federal match , perhaps the 90 percent match that Alabama is getting for cleanup in the wake of last month's killer twisters.""

Alabama had no problem taking FEMA money. Nor did Missouri. Nowr will Oklahoma.

Her career ended when she started calling for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

In Florida, this is heresy, and Katherine Harris saw her support evaporate.

"Harris then went on and called for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

One Walmart's Low Wages Could Cost Taxpayers $900,000 Per Year, House Dems Find

"Walmart wages are so low that many of its workers rely on food stamps and other government aid programs to fulfill their basic needs, a reality that could cost taxpayers as much as $900,000 at just one Walmart Supercenter in Wisconsin, according to a study released by Congressional Democrats on Thursday.

Though the study assumes that most workers who qualify for the public assistance programs do take advantage of them, it injects a potent data point into a national debate about the minimum wage at a time when many Walmart and fast food workers are mounting strikes in pursuit of higher wages.

The study uses Medicaid data released in Wisconsin to piece together the annual cost to taxpayers for providing a host of social safety net programs, including food stamps and publicly subsidized health care, to workers at one Supercenter in the state.

According to the report, Walmart had more workers enrolled in the state’s public health care program in the last quarter of last year than any other employer, with 3,216 people enrolled. When the dependents of those workers were factored in, the number of enrollees came to 9,207.

"When low wages leave Walmart workers unable to afford the necessities of life, taxpayers pick up the tab," the report says.

After accounting for the total number of Walmart stores and employees across the state and the per-person costs of BadgerCare, as the state’s health care program is known, the report's authors estimated that the cost of publicly funded health care comes to $251,706 per year for a 300-employee Supercenter."

DHS wastes billions of Our money in the so-called fight against terrorism

June 1, 2013

Audits carried out by the DHS Inspector General reveal ''serious shortcomings'' about the way grants have been spent. The report questions how many of the acquisitions made by towns and cities have contributed in any way to combating the threat of terrorism.

Hard pressed taxpayers who are suffering from wage cuts, job losses and cuts in Federal programs are entitled to ask tough questions of the Department of Homeland Security. Senator Coburn's report points out very forcefully that there have been few accountability measures in the UASI program. He notes that,''there is almost no way to ensure taxpayers are getting value for their money, and more importantly, whether they are safer.''

All-Male Fox Panel Freaks Out About Female Breadwinners

"The all-male panel on Wednesday's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" was in total agreement about the deep danger posed to society by women bringing home the bacon.

The Fox Business host fulminated about a recently released Pew study which showed that women were the sole or primary breadwinners in four out of ten households with children. There have been many nuanced reactions to the study, but Dobbs and his guests agreed that it was a complete catastrophe for the country.

Juan Williams said it was "something going terribly wrong in American society, and it's hurting our children, and it's going to have impact for generations to come."

Fellow guest Erick Erickson said it was a downright repudiation of nature itself.

"When you look at biology, look at the natural world, the roles of a male and a female in society, and other animals, the male typically is the dominant role. The female, it's not antithesis, or it's not competing, it's a complementary role. We as people in a smart society have lost the ability to have complementary relationships in nuclear families, and it's tearing us apart."

"The politicians won't say it," Williams said. "They won't admit this!"

At no point were women invited to share their thoughts.

UPDATE: One woman, Fox News' Greta Van Susteren, reacted with disbelief:

Have these men lost their minds?(and these are my colleagues??!! oh brother… maybe I need to have a little chat with them if it isn’t too late….)

I opposed the invasion of Iraq for a number of reasons, some of which were the same reasons President George H.W. Bush left Saddam in power after Gulf War I. Unlike the entire Dumbya administration, I had spent time in the Middle East and studied its politics and military.

I opposed the Iraq Fiasco for the following reasons.
1. SADDAM DID NOT POSSESS ANY WMD's. Numerous intel agencies, including our, own knew this.
2. Invading and removing Saddam would get us into another Vietnam type war.(Why Bush I didn't take him out)
3. Removing the iron fist control of Saddam would lead to sectarian violence, genocide and ethnic cleansing.(again bush I knew this)
4. Saddam kept Iran in check. Without the threat of us rearming Saddam and another Iraq/Iran war, Iran would probably restart its nuclear program (it did)
5. Every time we go to nation build unilaterally it fails. The only successful times we have rebuilt nations, we had the help of the world. Germany, Japan, South Korea, Croatia and Bosnia are examples of this. Every time we go about it Unilaterally we fail, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq are examples of this

Yes I am a liberal and a gun owner. I want adequate background checks before a person can purchase a gun.

Senator Feinstein doesn't want to bar vets from owning guns, she only doesn't want them exempt from background checks. and given what that not having a draft for the Iraq Fiasco has led many service members to do multiple combat tours, some as high as 5-6, that's a really really good idea.

The only thing I don't support about Israel is their illegal seizure of land that doesn't belong to them. same as I opposed Saddam's invasion of Kuwait

that waste started long before the Obama administration. Representatives from states where terrorists attacks are likely to occur, NYC, LA, DC, Norfolk Va., San Diego, Boston, have been complaining for years about the distribution of funds to very low level threat locations.

The Right has an easier time than does the LEFT. The Left has been brain washed into thinking they have to defend every dumb ass Progressive that surfaces with a microphone. The Right treats each person and statement as belonging to that person. It is that person's problem to defend it.
