How can any law passed by Congress "enshrine extra protection for journalists" when the First Amendment protection of freedom of speech is absolute?
And why should journalists have any more right to freedom of speech than anyone else?
If Obama wants to protect a rotting carp like Holder through Executive Privilege, so what?
Of course, the U S Constitution is not 'absolute'. We've witnessed attempts to improve upon and curtail the meaning and intent of the U S Constitution as a living, evolving American political document.

The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, as with libel, slander, obscenity, sedition (including, for example inciting ethnic hatred), copyright violation, revelation of information that is classified or otherwise."

Too bad you're too old and scared to actually put yourself out there to test your 'absolute' right to free speech.
You'd be in prison if you publicly said much of the nonsense you spew here.

When Castro defeated Batista, he was lauded as a 'people's hero' in the USA.

He even appeared on the Ed Sullivan show in 1959. You should remember, but your dementia ended memories for you.

It was only when America realized that Castro would not be the puppet Batista was that we turned on him.

Batista allowed American mobsters to run gambling in Havana while the Cuban people starved.

"JOPLIN, Mo.— Nearly two years after a horrific EF5 tornado struck Joplin, a new landscape has emerged from the miles-long corridor of rubble.

Streets are clear. Debris is gone. Road signs ripped away by 200-plus-mph winds are back in place and motorists can find their way.

Block after block, new homes have risen, many on the bare foundations left behind after the May 22, 2011, storm. New roofs — not twisted debris — mark the path of the storm through the heart of the city. A recent tour of the tornado's path revealed only a handful of structures with torn roofs or damaged walls."

The St. John's Regional Medical Center that took a direct hit has been demolished and scraped from view. Its mangled exterior had become an iconic image of the storm's power. Only a parking lot and grassy hill remain.

On Joplin's southwest side, the steel framework of a new Mercy Hospital — designed from the ground up to survive a similar tornado — passed a construction milestone on Feb. 28, with the placing of a "topping out beam," painted white and signed by many of the construction crews working there. More than 1 million cubic yards of rock and soil were excavated for the new hospital, enough material to fill 100,000 dump trucks.

Elsewhere, steel is rising on several new schools.

In many ways, big and small, life is getting back to some semblance of normalcy for Joplin."

Gun lobbyist Clark Aposhian drove onto the lawn of his ex-wife's family with the vehicle, on which he had painted the words "Zombie Response Vehicle." Aposhian is involved with a custody dispute with his ex-wife. He also seems to have some sort of unspecified beef with zombies.

"The U.S. realized Batista would lose the war, and fearing that Castro would displace U.S. interests with socialist reforms, decided to support Batista’s removal in support of a rightist military junta, believing that General Cantillo, then commanding most of the country’s armed forces, should lead it. After being approached with this proposal, Cantillo secretly met with Castro, agreeing that the two would call a ceasefire, following which Batista would be apprehended and tried as a war criminal.[116] Double crossing Castro, Cantillo warned Batista of the revolutionary’s intentions. Wishing to avoid a tribunal, Batista resigned on 31 December 1958, informing the armed forces that they were now under Cantillo’s control. With his family and closest advisers, Batista fled into exile with over US$ 300,000,000.[117] Cantillo then entered Havana’s Presidential Palace, proclaimed the Supreme Court judge Carlos Piedra to be the new President, and began appointing new members of the government.[118]

How does your cherry-picking prove your previous erroneous claim / blame on liberals only promoting ethanol? republicans and liberals were fully behind the search for alternative fuels and renewable energy to replace death-dealing fossil fuel dependency when republicans still believed in climate change in the 80's to the early 21st century (before CitizensUnited and the sell out to big-moneyed fossil fuel special interests )

When the IRS targeted liberals

Under George W. Bush, it went after the NAACP, Greenpeace and even a liberal church

----------

"While few are defending the Internal Revenue Service for targeting dozens of conservative groups, there are two critical pieces of context missing from the conventional wisdom on the “scandal.” First, at least from what we know so far, the groups were not targeted in a political vendetta — but rather were executing a makeshift enforcement test (an ugly one, mind you) for IRS employees tasked with separating political groups not allowed to claim tax-exempt status, from bona fide social welfare organizations. Employees are given almost zero official guidance on how to do that, so they went after Tea Party groups because those seemed like they might be political. Keep in mind, the commissioner of the IRS at the time was a Bush appointee.

The second is that while this is the first time this kind of thing has become a national scandal, it’s not the first time such activity has occurred.

“I wish there was more GOP interest when I raised the same issue during the Bush administration, where they audited a progressive church in my district in what look liked a very selective way,” California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said on MSNBC Monday.“I found only one Republican,[North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones], that would join me in calling for an investigation during the Bush administration. I’m glad now that the GOP has found interest in this issue and it ought to be a bipartisan concern.”

The well-known church, All Saints Episcopal in Pasadena, became a bit of a cause célèbre on the left after the IRS threatened to revoke the church’s tax-exempt status over an anti-Iraq War sermon the Sunday before the 2004 election.“Jesus [would say],‘Mr. President, your doctrine of preemptive war is a failed doctrine,’” rector George Regas said from the dais.

The church, which said progressive activism was in its “DNA,” hired a powerful Washington lawyer and enlisted the help of Schiff, who met with the commissioner of the IRS twice and called for a Government Accountability Office investigation, saying the IRS audit violated the First Amendment and was unduly targeting a political opponent of the Bush administration.“My client is very concerned that the close coordination undertaken by the IRS allowed partisan political concerns to direct the course of the All Saints examination,” church attorney Marcus Owens, who is widely considered one of the country’s leading experts on this area of the law, said at the time. In 2007, the IRS closed the case, decreeing that the church violated rules preventing political intervention, but it did not revoke its nonprofit status."

Bet you nitwits saw nothing wrong with Bush using the IRS to go after his enemies list.

Christianity is a harmless diversion that comforts many people.
Really, I betting the Bosnian Muslims and Croats who suffered genocide at the hands of those Christian Orthodox Serbs may have a different opinion.

and I'm sure the victims who suffered years of terrorism by the IRA and Protestant Orange groups also may have a slightly different opinion.

and then there are always the 6 million victims who suffered the Holocaust at the hands of Christian Germany.

Or the Native American Indians (both North & South) who almost were driven into extinction at the hands of Christian Europeans

or the tens of thousands of Pacific Islanders who suffered the same fate as Native Americans again at the hands of Christian Europeans.

or the tens of thousands of Africans who suffered genocide and enslavement at the hands of Christian Europeans

or the tens of thousands of Chinese who suffered from the Opium sold to them by the Christian British

I'm betting there are millions of people who do not consider Christianity a harmless diversion

BTW Pat Robertson is a yellow coward who deserted his platoon just before it was deployed to Korea. Like another politician we know, his daddy, Sen. Robertson had a lot of political clout. Certain groups or specific enemies get audited by the IRS with the blessing of those in power by nearly every administration. Clinton held that record, I believe. But going after enemies of those in power en masse, targeting every group with nonthreatening words like "freedom" and "debt" in their names and auditing individual donors and citizens simply for their political beliefs is an unprecedented and gross abuse of power. Richard Nixon was the last president to be that transparent with his "enemies list", but this administration outdid him.
Targeting average citizens and nonthreatening small groups of citizens who simply don't agree with this administration and are concerned about the direction this country is going - which is the majority - using the strong arm of the IRS is not how we do things here.
You just want us to be Cuba. Apparently, so does Obama. He's just gotten comfortable wearing sheep's clothing.
Well this sure is a change of tune from your earlier claims.

The problem is, you're only willing to enforce the laws now that bushie boy and the cons are not in power.

It sure wasn't a problem when they were there! Seems it went beyond accepted since the IRS actually made the threat to revoke the tax exempt status due to statement against bushie boy.

So really, using the strong arm of the IRS IS something cons condoned....

..... don't you agree?
