Scandal Fever Is Making Fox News Even More Demented Than Usual
It must be a terrible burden to have to manage as many trumped up scandals as Fox News is currently struggling with. The sheer volume of fabricated nonsense to manufacture and inventory would be a strain on any propaganda outfit. But the pressure is showing now as Fox appears unable to function under the weight of the task. Take a look at these recent schizoid episodes they have belched out:
On the Fox Business Network, their anchor Lou Dobbs hosted a panel to discuss the state of women in the workplace and the results of a new poll that shows more American women are the primary earners in their families. In order to have a balanced debate on this subject, Fox invited only men to participate. But after you hear what one of those men said, you’ll understand why women weren’t necessary:
Consequently, Fox is committed to having only males weigh in on the subjects of working women, reproductive rights, domestic violence, etc.
Next up is a story Fox did about the number of times Douglas Shulman, the IRS commissioner, visited the White House. Of Course, there should be nothing suspicious about a critical economic adviser spending time with other administration officials as they seek to restore the nation’s economy. But like everything else they do, Fox is only focused on turning this into a nefarious scheme of some sort. So they tally up the number of visits and imply that the frequency represents something other than devotion to duty:
Unfortunately for Fox, their own source, the notoriously disreputable Daily Caller (which is run by Fox contributor Tucker Carlson) contradicts the very premise they sought to prove. After making a federal case out of the visits attributed to Shulman, the Daily Caller correctly notes that…
“The visitor logs do not give a complete picture of White House access. Some high-level officials get cleared for access and do not have to sign in during visits [...] it is probable that the vast majority of visits by major Cabinet members do not end up in the public record.”
In other words…never mind. We don’t know what the heck we’re talking about. Which is surprising because this isn’t the first time that right-wing media tried to build these logs into a conflagration and failed to ignite any sparks. Back in 2009 there was an effort to tie the President to ACORN by reporting that ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis had visited the White House a few weeks before that phony scandal erupted. As it turned out, it was a different Bertha Lewis, but nobody at Fox or their source (Breitbart News) bothered to verify the information. In fact, we still don’t know if the Douglas Shulman on the logs is the IRS commissioner.
Finally, the most disturbing evidence that Fox is suffering severe symptoms of dementia was demonstrated in this segment of Fox & Friends when the hosts interviewed John Bolton about why National Security Adviser Tom Donilon was AWOL on the night of the attacks in Benghazi. They stated flatly that Donilon was absent for the crisis, even while they showed a photo alongside Bolton of a White House meeting that clearly included Donilon.
This is pretty much what we can expect from Fox News for the duration of this scandal season. They are obviously over their heads and unable to steer a steady course. They either need some extended rest or a significant increase in the dosage of their meds. This should at least provide a lesson to them for the future: Don’t make up more scandals than you are capable of handling.

Tale Of Two IRS Scandals Shows Biggest Difference Between Obama & Bush

George W. Bush's administration had an IRS scandal very similar to the one the Obama Administration is currently weathering, and so by comparing the two, we can learn about how these two administrations differ and how the media treats each one.

To refresh your memories, it came out recently that the Internal Revenue Service, the folks who collect the taxes, targeted tax-exempt groups with words like "Tea Party," "Freedom" and "Patriot" in their names for audits. Liberal groups were also audited by the IRS, but without the same consistency as Tea Party groups. None of the Tea Party groups (but one of the liberal groups) lost their tax-exempt status as a result of the IRS audit.

Rewind back to 2005, and the Bush Administration's IRS had a similar scenario. A church in Pasadena, CA, called All Saints Episcopal came under scrutiny for an anti-George W. Bush sermon (the message was essentially, what would Jesus do? Not go to war in Iraq). Churches have tax-exempt status, but may not engage in political speech, or else they risk losing that status. It's no secret that churches do engage in political speech all the time (often thinly veiled, like a head shop selling water pipes for anyone who prefers to take their tobacco in giant bong rips), but if the IRS is going to target one church, it should target many churches, like the extremely conservative megachurches dotting the Bible Belt.

So, Bush and Obama had broadly similar IRS scandals. Obama had his Treasury Secretary Jack Lew ask the current head of the IRS to resign (he wasn't there at the time of the alleged misbehavior, but Obama and Lew decided that a new face was needed to reestablish credibility), and ordered a national investigation into the scandal. Republicans, predictably, have been going berserk over this, and every major media outlet is running daily stories on Obama's IRS scandal. Not criticizing (it sure beats the Benghazi headbanging), but keep all that in mind for a moment.

The Bush IRS scandal came and went. There was scattered media coverage, and a fair amount of outcry from angry liberals. The Obama IRS scandal has already received more media coverage than the Bush IRS scandal. No one was fired or asked to resign over the Bush IRS scandal. Bush did not have a press conference about it. Obama answers his critics. Bush never saw the need to. This shows a big difference in who they are as presidents, but also how the media reports right-wing anger versus left-wing anger, and how the latter is brushed off, the former taken seriously.

actually you got Bush and Clinton confused. Clinton is the one that had the IRS--remember? he said "now the IRS will become a softer, gentler IRS...it continued on through the Bush Administration--until O'bama saw fit to target Republican Jews and Republican Conservatives.

MSNBC stinks
Jim Treacher

I don’t usually like to link to HuffPo, because it’s HuffPo, but I also greatly enjoy schadenfreude. And schadenfreude always wins. Take it away, Arianna’s Angels:

MSNBC got some very tough ratings news on Wednesday.
Another month of big crime and disaster news saw the network struggle to keep up with rivals CNN, HLN and Fox News. MSNBC was presumably expecting some dropoff from its 2012 numbers, since that was an election year, but it still landed in fourth place behind the other channels, a victim of HLN’s Jodi Arias-fueled surge and of President Obama’s scandal-ridden, defensive month. Overall, MSNBC saw its lowest total day viewer numbers since 2007, and its lowest prime time numbers since 2009.
Yay! Ha ha ha!!! But wait-wait-wait, check it out, check it out:

MSNBC’s prime time numbers were down across the board. Rachel Maddow delivered what the Hollywood Reporter said were her lowest total viewing figures in her show’s history, and she even fell behind timeslot rival Piers Morgan—a very rare victory for the CNN host. Chris Hayes also delivered sharply lower ratings than the man he replaced, Ed Schultz, did in 2012. Both of them, along with hosts from Chris Matthews to Al Sharpton to Martin Bashir, landed in fourth place in their timeslots—a marked change from their normal second-place status.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-HA-HA-HA-HA!! !

With her money you would think she could afford to get a better hair dresser. She should be able to afford to look good but since she doesn't care too it kind of makes o'l Bill look like not so much the perv for prowling around. It has become apparent over the years that liberals are willing to marry for political power and to assist in their "image" so they can further their careers, we know we already have Bill & Hillary and now Obama and Michelle.
