We went along with the Libya revolt because there's a lot of oil in Libya. DUH
The Italian oil co., ENI which pretty much runs the oil business there, had to cut production during the revolt. This directly affected Europe and it was NATO that Obama finally went along with.
After Republiclowns criticized him as being 'weak' for not getting into Libya, they went on to criticize when he did agree to help.
We put in no troops, mainly flew support for French and British attack aircraft. We provided refueling and AWACS, fired Tomahawks from offshore, our typical NATO role.
Remember it was UN Resolution 1973 that authorized it.
I'll agree we shouldn't have intervened in Libya, but it sure as hell wasn't Obama alone on it. The Repubs were pushing him into it, calling him weak for not helping the rebels.
Want to see??
"Have you had any difficulty discerning Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney’s precise position on the US involvement in the NATO mission in Libya?
The one consistency has been criticism of President Obama.
But beyond that, he’s seemed a bit all over the Libyan map.
"Position 1: Obama was weak in not doing this sooner
On March 21, Romney told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt:”I support military action in Libya. I support our troops there and the mission that they’ve been given.”
Asked if the president waited too long to strike against Libya, Romney said:“There’s no question but that his inability to have a clear and convincing foreign policy made him delegate to the United Nations and the Arab League a decision about our involvement there. And I happen to have a very personal concern. I mean, 270 people were killed as a result of that tragedy over Lockerbie. We now know that that was ordered directly by Muammar Gaddafi. One of my colleagues at Bain & Co, and a friend, named Nicholas Bright, was killed in that flight. And the President had every piece of information he needed to be able to take action in America’s interest.”
Asked if the president appeared weak, Romney said,“I think one of the comments I’ve heard from individuals abroad is that in the past, America has been feared sometimes, has been respected, but today, that America is seen as being weak. We’re following the French into Libya. I appreciate the fact that others are participating in this effort, but I think we look to America to be the leader of the world.”"

Syria is a whole different thing. It will be a proxy war, not a direct involvement. There is no UN talk of resolutions, they don't know what to do. the Russians and Chinese would not stand by if we intervene.
But most of all, there's no large oilfields in Syria. THe west can supply the rebels with weapons, the Russians will back Assad.
If you're a student of history, you'll see the parallels to the Spanish Civil War in the 1930's. A proxy war that led to a World War.
History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
Obama will not put US forces into Syria. Period. That goes for Aircraft, as well.
You're right about McCain. A dangerous old fool. This last stunt reminded me of his suspending his campaign to save the economy.
It's sad to see the clown he's become. There was a time........
Oh poor poor O'bama letting McCain lead the country.

We can agree to disagree about the military draft, a disaster that ripped the country apart during the Vietnam era.
If we didn't learn from that, we never will.
It was a stupid war in Vietnam that ripped the nation apart. DUH

The draft had been in effect since WWII, without the problems of the late 1960's.

You've reached the wrong conclusion.

That's what was good about it. With a draft, average Americans are equally affected by it. Which does influence the Government, as Vietnam protests proved.

Enough Americans got tired of seeing their boys come home in a box, and spoke out, forcing Nixon to finally end it.

Modern wars are felt by a few percent of Americans. That's why Bush could get away with his two wars.

Had there been a draft, Americans would have thought a lot harder about it. But when it's not your kid..........

Now, your turn, put on your "tin foil hat of denial" and tell us how wonderful he was. This part always cracks me up.
So you are saying it is the Democrats fault because thy did not stop the Republicans from nearly killing this country.

You continue to bring up former President Bush because of Bush derangement syndrome. Just like the imposter in our White House.
Take one step backwards and explain to us all why your hero Slick Willie didn't take Osama out when he had several chances and he could have truely stopped the attack on the twin towers. Even the democrats said Osama was behind the attack right.
Please take note, former President Bush has been out of office for four and a half years. Time for you and O'bigears to stop the blame game and accept responsibility for what you low/no information voters and your false messiah have done to America.
On one hand you ask why Clinton didn't kill Osama, then turn around & utter,"stop bringing up Bush." What a conundrum!

You so conveniently forget about your Republican witch hunt in the Lewinsky scandal. You also forget your boy made Bin Laden. Reagan made him & both Bush's made him richer than his Daddy left him. You also forgot he only decided to go against America when Bush Kuwait & 1st stepped for on Muslim soil. Before that Bunn Laden was a soldier in an army. Same shit from you republicans. Start a bunch of shit then blame the preceding democrat for not cleaning up your mess. Y'all know how to lie & start a war but, have no idea how to end it, at least victorious!. Clinton didn't start the Christian/Muslim war on the West. Why should he have been the one to clean it up? Go ahead & lie, shift the blame on Obama for Bush's blunder. It's a reoccurring there & it's gotten old fast!

The only thing that ripped the country apart was the lying communists friends of O'bama's. William Ayers and Bernadine Dorn and the likes. They were not protesting against the war. They were protesting because the United States was stopping their precious communism. And then what? they became teachers of American children. Same communists in the democrat party that continues to rip this country apart. Get it through your fricking head!

Maybe, but the difference is that there was no reason to get involved in Libya.
Romney said we should take the lead in attacking Libya because Gaddafi had ordered the attack on a 747 over Lockerbie,Scotland.

So what you talking about, Rufus?? Reagan attacked Gaddafi, and your idea that he was tamed is pure bullspittle. He just went underground with his terrorism.

If anyone was tamed, it was Saddam. Bush I had Desert STorm, that pretty much destroyed Saddam's tank army and the Republican Guard.

Than they had weapons inspectors and a no flight zone.

If that's not tamed, what's your definition?? A guy who orders civilian aircraft to be bombed??

This was after Reagan supposedly tamed him. 1988. Reagan bombed him in 1986.

Gaddafi never ended his support for terrorists in other Sub Saharan countries like Mali, Ethopia, Somalia.

Why has Libya become such a focus for you??

According to Wikipedia Hispanics from Mexico are responsible for the significant group of ethnic-based gangs in the United States and is one of the concerns of increased illegal immigration to the United States because of the gang-related activity associated with the Hispanics coming across the border from Mexico and the Clowns in Washington wants to give the Illegal's citizenship and that is crazy as hell!.
