There was nothing structurally wrong with the New Orleans levees---they were built to specs to resist storms up to a Category 3 hurricane. The scientific data was ignored that climate scientist's were making predictions that more extreme storms would form closer to coastal regions as climate worsened from man-made greenhouse gasses pollution--no one expected a Category 5 Katrina superstorm!
And planned accordingly? They wanted to build more casinos instead apparently.
