I still believe the intention was good, at least the way the idea was perceived by most people. I was misled by thinking a "Dept of Homeland Security" would address and most importantly Protect the Border Issues. Monitor International flights so the bad guy's don't get in and issues of that nature. Protecting the people on the street level. I even once thought a identifying I.D. card was a good idea and why not? Everybody already has some kind of i.d. now and having one that can't be forged or stolen just makes sense. But that fizzled out when the people that shoudn't have one get one anyways, en masse.
It's like everywhere homeland security Should be,their not.
What is it's Real purpose? Protect the gov't from the people??
Homeland Security became a disaster the minute that TSA decided to harass American citizens at airports instead of using their brains (an oxymoron) to profile potential terrorists. From there it was all downhill.

Bishop Stephen Blaire of Stockton, chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development stated very specifically;
“The Catholic bishops of the United States recognize the serious deficits our country faces, and we acknowledge that Congress must make difficult decisions about how to allocate burdens and sacrifices and balance resources and needs,However, deficit reduction and fiscal responsibility efforts must protect and not undermine the needs of poor and vulnerable people. The proposed cuts to programs in the budget reconciliation fail this basic moral test.”

President Bush and Vice President Cheney met with the entire 10-member bipartisan commission at a meeting in the Oval Office. They answered questions from the commissioners for more than three hours.
A statement from the 9/11 commission described the meeting as "extraordinary" and thanked the two men for their cooperation.
"The commission found the president and the vice president forthcoming and candid," the statement said. "The information they provided will be of great assistance to the commission as it completes its final report."
my questions to you are
1. Why did Cheney and Bush refuse to testify under oath?
2. Why were they questioned together, something that is never, ever done?
3. Why did they refuse to testify publicly?

How do you create sufficient RELIABLE electric power without nuclear energy, coal energy, and natural gas energy?

Electric power at a reasonable cost that will not destroy the economy?

Or are you willing to live through power outages when the wind ain't blowing and the sun ain't shining?

And destroy the economy (the REAL Obama objective) for the sake of junk science.

sure a few million under the guise of religion. Islam is radical on its face. There is no such thing as a moderate moslem. If Islam is a religion of peace, then why is it the only one that consistently produces religiously-motivated terrorist attacks each and every day of the year? Why are thousands of people willing and able to cut off an innocent person’s head or fly a plane full of passengers into an office building while screaming praises to Allah? Where’s the outrage among other Muslims when this happens… and why do they get more worked up over cartoons and hijabs?
