Obviously, she didn't testify so could not lie.

But she may be forced to testify yet.

You should just stick to counting vapor trails.
Did you hear about Harry Sargeant?

A former partner of Florida Republican money man and oil billionaire Harry Sargeant III should get interest on a nearly $29 million court judgment, as well as the principal already awarded against Sargeant, a Florida appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The background of the case reads like a novel. Sargeant, a former state Republican Party finance chairman tapped for the post by then-Gov. Charlie Crist, had a partnership with Mohammed Al-Saleh, a brother-in-law of the king of Jordan, to truck oil through Jordan to U.S. troops in Iraq in an exclusive deal with the military. Al-Saleh was reportedly supposed to assure the Jordanian government would keep the deal exclusive. But Al-Saleh alleged that Sargeant and another partner tried to cut him out of the profits and sued. A Palm Beach County jury agreed in 2011 and ordered Sargeant to pay Al-Saleh $28.8 million, a judgment upheld Wednesdayby the 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach.

When she gave an opening statement she technically waved her right [to claim the fifth].I didn't think I needed to state the obvious as her claiming the fifth was the topic.
When you claim the fifth; you cannot make statements.
When she gave an opening statement she waived her right.
You're confused. If she made an opening statement then it only means that she did not have to invoke her fifth amendment right because the Committee was not accusing her of any criminal act;they were only information-gathering. So, Lerner could not have waived anything that she never used.

The Clay Aiken look alike Trey Gowdy was dead wrong and simply grandstanding as the little twerp is slowly gaining a reputation for.

She was not in a federal court but a congressional hearing which is a whole nutha thing.

Issa tidied it right up and sent the red hairing along.

They noted that she waived her right to claim the fifth when she gave the statement.

They vowed that she would be called to testify again after they gather more information.

I would never give Lerner immunity. She engaged in the same behavior at FEC asking Christian groups about who prayed for them.
Prosecutors routinely grant immunity to low-level street dealers to get at the big-time drug kingpins. That concept applies here.

Tiller performed third-trimester abortions, all of which are potentially infanticide and should be outlawed, with the exception of preventing the imminent death of the mother.

The only regret is that he was murdered instead of prosecuted for murder.

Two Virginia women are being charged with inducing an abortion using herbs they purchased at a local supplement store, according to Norfolk-based WTKR-TV.

The women are Jessica Carpenter, 20, and Rachel Lowe, 27. Court documents allege that Lowe, a former employee of the Tidewater Women’s Clinic in Norfolk, helped Carpenter induce a miscarriage at six months into her pregnancy using a combination of herbs.

Lea Smith, one of their mutual friends, told WTKR-TV that she heard them discussing an induced miscarriage. She contacted police when the infant died after being born prematurely.

Virginia law considers self-inducing an abortion a Class 4 felony, carrying a jail sentence of no less than two years and no more than 10, along with a fine of up to $100,000.

<quoted text> Making a statement is not the same as taking the stand. In court proceedings both, the defendant or lawyer, & the prosecutor make opening statements. Neither are taking the stand therefore, not subject to the 5th amendment laws at that time. Had she taken the stand & pled her innocence, then when asked questions pertaining the case tried to invoke her 5th amendment right, she couldn't because she already had given them up when she took the stand & testified to her innocence. Therefore she would be forced by law to answer the questions or suffer a jail cell until she does answer them!
In a court of the law the moment a witness responses or makes any statement they have waived their right to claim the fifth.

The lawyer wasn't talking-the witness was.

She pleaded the 5th Amendment.
So, let's put the bloodhounds there to start and see where the trail leads. I'd say try her for the obvious violation of the laws and send her to Leavenworth for 40 years. Let's see who she rolls over on to get that sentence reduced.

You do realize that the Marines stationed at the White House open the door for everyone. So why aren't you & your dumbasss buddies screaming about Marines being "doormen"???

Do you so-called feminists ever ask why Obama picked on Lois Lerner to take the blame instead of a really slimy worm like Steven Miller?

Probably because Miller was smart enough to refuse to be the pigeon.

A Democrat on the House’s investigative committee raised the specter of a special prosecutor on Wednesday to investigate political targeting of conservative groups at the IRS from 2010 to 2012.

Rep. Stephen Lynch, Massachusetts Democrat, warned IRS and Treasury Department witnesses before the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform not to stonewall congressional efforts to get to the bottom of the scandal.

“We know where that will lead, it will lead to a special prosecutor.… There will be hell to pay if that’s the route that we choose to go down,” he said.

The Democrat’s reference to a special prosecutor was noteworthy, since the most vocal criticism for the IRS has come from GOP ranks in recent weeks.

I hate to see her slide as she has a history of this behavior. Why not going after the smaller fish-those who were directly involved in doing this. No one has been punished.
