Lerner's attorney should be disbarred for allowing her to make a statement proclaiming her innocence.
Lerner is an object for pity, set up by the Obama Regime to take the blame for IRS abuses. Hope she made a good deal.
They let her son.

So it would appear they gave her a pass.

<quoted text>So you haven't completely ruled out the possibility of man made global warming? If you have then I did not lie or make a false accusation.
Of course not. However, my specific discipline requires an intense study of the Earth. If a grain of sand is added to the beach, then the beach has been changed. How significant the impact of human activity is, nobody knows.
But, there are clues here and there, like the so-called "scientists" who are attempting to prove human significance in global warming being so convinced they were wrong that they invented fraudulent evidence to support their caser.
That's just a clue to a scientist that they don't really believe what they, themselves, are saying.

Making a statement is not the same as taking the stand. In court proceedings both, the defendant or lawyer, & the prosecutor make opening statements. Neither are taking the stand therefore, not subject to the 5th amendment laws at that time. Had she taken the stand & pled her innocence, then when asked questions pertaining the case tried to invoke her 5th amendment right, she couldn't because she already had given them up when she took the stand & testified to her innocence. Therefore she would be forced by law to answer the questions or suffer a jail cell until she does answer them!

Do you really think Homer is the poster boy for Progressive crazies here? Really? He needs to pop you along the side of the head.

Homer is guilty of following the Progressive line often time without much thought and with no attention given to ethics.

But she may be forced to testify yet.

You should just stick to counting vapor trails.
Did you hear about Harry Sargeant?

A former partner of Florida Republican money man and oil billionaire Harry Sargeant III should get interest on a nearly $29 million court judgment, as well as the principal already awarded against Sargeant, a Florida appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The background of the case reads like a novel. Sargeant, a former state Republican Party finance chairman tapped for the post by then-Gov. Charlie Crist, had a partnership with Mohammed Al-Saleh, a brother-in-law of the king of Jordan, to truck oil through Jordan to U.S. troops in Iraq in an exclusive deal with the military. Al-Saleh was reportedly supposed to assure the Jordanian government would keep the deal exclusive. But Al-Saleh alleged that Sargeant and another partner tried to cut him out of the profits and sued. A Palm Beach County jury agreed in 2011 and ordered Sargeant to pay Al-Saleh $28.8 million, a judgment upheld Wednesdayby the 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach.

When she gave an opening statement she technically waved her right [to claim the fifth].I didn't think I needed to state the obvious as her claiming the fifth was the topic.
When you claim the fifth; you cannot make statements.
When she gave an opening statement she waived her right.
You're confused. If she made an opening statement then it only means that she did not have to invoke her fifth amendment right because the Committee was not accusing her of any criminal act;they were only information-gathering. So, Lerner could not have waived anything that she never used.

The Clay Aiken look alike Trey Gowdy was dead wrong and simply grandstanding as the little twerp is slowly gaining a reputation for.

She was not in a federal court but a congressional hearing which is a whole nutha thing.

Prosecutors routinely grant immunity to low-level street dealers to get at the big-time drug kingpins. That concept applies here.

Lerner is a small fish.

Tiller performed third-trimester abortions, all of which are potentially infanticide and should be outlawed, with the exception of preventing the imminent death of the mother.

The only regret is that he was murdered instead of prosecuted for murder.

Two Virginia women are being charged with inducing an abortion using herbs they purchased at a local supplement store, according to Norfolk-based WTKR-TV.

The women are Jessica Carpenter, 20, and Rachel Lowe, 27. Court documents allege that Lowe, a former employee of the Tidewater Women’s Clinic in Norfolk, helped Carpenter induce a miscarriage at six months into her pregnancy using a combination of herbs.

Lea Smith, one of their mutual friends, told WTKR-TV that she heard them discussing an induced miscarriage. She contacted police when the infant died after being born prematurely.

Virginia law considers self-inducing an abortion a Class 4 felony, carrying a jail sentence of no less than two years and no more than 10, along with a fine of up to $100,000.
