WASHINGTON – Last week, Lois Lerner, head of the tax exempt division of the Internal Revenue Service dropped a bombshell: The IRS had been applying extra scrutiny to conservative groups claiming tax exempt status.
The revelation came seemingly out of the blue, in response to a question during a panel at an American Bar Association conference, leaving the audience baffled, according to reports.
As it turns out, it was not a spontaneous revelation. The question, said outgoing IRS Commissioner Steven Miller in testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee Friday, was planted, as part of a prepared strategy for the IRS to release this information to the public.
Under questioning from Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, Miller said it was a “prepared Q and A,” and the question, which came from tax lawyer Celia Roady had been discussed in advance as well.
Later, Miller, questioned by Rep. Peter Roskam, explained that the disclosure had been made to coincide with the conclusion of the inspector general’s report.
Miller said he and Lerner discussed, in a what he believed was a phone conversation, whether “now that the TIGTA report was finalized, now that we knew all of the facts … did it make sense for us to start talking about this in public.”
Asked why he had not first reached out to the committee to tell them, Miller first said they had planned “to do that at the same time,” but that “did not happen.” He later said they “were reaching out to this committee at the same time,” and that they had “called to try to get on the calendar.”
The shame is this is what the I.R.S. has to do now as their job since CitizensUnited. Repeal CitizensUnited and the I.R.S. won't have to pay so much attention to monitoring 'dark money' flows through 501cK's . Problem solved.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said Friday that he will subpoena Ambassador Thomas Pickering over the investigation into last year's deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya, according to multiple reports.

Along with former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mike Mullen, Pickering led the independent review of the attack. The two men sent a letter to Issa on Thursday in which they agreed to testify before the committee in public but declined to meet privately with lawmakers before the testimony.

"In our view, requiring such a closed-door proceeding before we testify publicly is an inappropriate precondition," they wrote.

On Friday, Issa responded with a letter of his own, expressing disappointment at Pickering's refusal to meet behind-closed-doors.

“In light of your continuing refusal to appear voluntarily for a transcribed interview, however, I have found it necessary to issue a subpoena to compel your appearance at a deposition," Issa wrote, according to Government Executive.

Pickering's private deposition is scheduled to be held at 10:00 a.m. ET on May 23. He told Government Executive that he hadn't heard about the subpoena yet.

Actually, I do apology for some of comments earlier. Grey Ghost had a melt down every time I mentioned pant wetting and I was yanking his chain.

Conservatives, frankly, have become purveyors of outrage instead of preachers for a cause. Instead of showing how increasing government harms people, how free markets help people, and how conservative policies benefit all Americans, we scream “Benghazi” and “Fast & Furious.”

The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department.

Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement — or how much income she earned — on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so.

The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband, former Representative Anthony D. Weiner, a Democrat, prepares for a mayoral run in New York City. Politico reported the arrangement on Thursday afternoon.

Ms. Abedin declined a request for an interview, but the picture that emerges from interviews and records suggests a situation where the lines were blurred between Ms. Abedin’s work in the high echelons of one of the government’s most sensitive executive departments and her role as a Clinton family insider.

If the people who wrote the Benghazi report refuses to be responsible for and justify their findings, then the report has no merit. You do realize Hilary assigned the investigators? Maybe it is time for an independent review?

Edited by you out of your link:

"I believe the President’s policies are destructive and will harm our economy, our nation, and our sense of national self long term. I believe his policies have the effect of turning us into subjects of the government, not citizens in charge of it. Because of his expansion of the social safety net funded through class warfare, Mr. Obama’s policies will cause too many Americans’ fortunes to rise and fall with those of the government, unable to chart a course for themselves apart from government."

There is the problem I had with John McCain. He made a grave error by not allowing the investigation to go forward on Weiner's wife. Her mother was former Moslem Bro Hood and the connection was there.

An opinion piece.

The person also states

"I believe the President’s policies are destructive and will harm our economy, our nation, and our sense of national self long term. I believe his policies have the effect of turning us into subjects of the government, not citizens in charge of it. Because of his expansion of the social safety net funded through class warfare, Mr. Obama’s policies will cause too many Americans’ fortunes to rise and fall with those of the government, unable to chart a course for themselves apart from government."

Maybe the person fails to understand that abuse of power or incompetence-whatever is the cause of the current failures- is also just as destructive.

5 Signs That The Tea Party’s Time Is Up "When South Carolina senator Jim DeMint made the stunning announcement that he would resign from Congress to lead conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, it represented a major blow to the beleaguered Tea Party movement." Here's 5 more: 1.'The 2012 elections were tough on the Tea Party’s favorite congressmen'.(the voters sent most of them packing) 2.'House Speaker John Boehner is consolidating his power by removing Tea Party favorites David Schweikert (R-AZ), Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) and Justin Amash (R-MI) from their plum committee assignments — and has also served notice that other Reps. who aren’t “team players” could suffer a similar fate.'3.Freedom Works is falling apart with the resignation of Dick Armey over a bitter internal dispute with FW president Matt Kibbe--Armey walked away with a cool $8 million dollar 'golden parachute' settlement. 4. Fox Right-Wing Media Bubble Punctured.'After Fox and the rest of the right-wing media epically blew their electoral predictions, however, some Republicans — such as Bruce Bartlett and David Frum — have turned against the “conservative entertainment complex.”

As Bartlett wrote,“Living in the Fox News cocoon, most Republicans had no clue that they were losing [in 2012] or that their ideas were both stupid and politically unpopular.” 5. http://nationalmemo.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/w... Check this out: http://www.nationalmemo.com/5-signs-that-the-...
