That said, "a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity."
So, how do you determine if these political agendas were not the primary activity?

The well-known church, All Saints Episcopal in Pasadena, became a bit of a cause célèbre on the left after the IRS threatened to revoke the church’s tax-exempt status over an anti-Iraq War sermon the Sunday before the 2004 election.“Jesus [would say],‘Mr. President, your doctrine of preemptive war is a failed doctrine,’” rector George Regas said from the dais.
The church, which said progressive activism was in its “DNA,” hired a powerful Washington lawyer and enlisted the help of Schiff, who met with the commissioner of the IRS twice and called for a Government Accountability Office investigation, saying the IRS audit violated the First Amendment and was unduly targeting a political opponent of the Bush administration.“My client is very concerned that the close coordination undertaken by the IRS allowed partisan political concerns to direct the course of the All Saints examination,” church attorney Marcus Owens, who is widely considered one of the country’s leading experts on this area of the law, said at the time. In 2007, the IRS closed the case, decreeing that the church violated rules preventing political intervention, but it did not revoke its nonprofit status.
And while All Saints came under the gun, conservative churches across the country were helping to mobilize voters for Bush with little oversight. In 2006, citing the precedent of All Saints,“a group of religious leaders accused the Internal Revenue Service yesterday of playing politics by ignoring its complaint that two large churches in Ohio are engaging in what it says are political activities, in violation of the tax code,” the New York Times reported at the time. The churches essentially campaigned for a Republican gubernatorial candidate, they alleged, and even flew him on one of their planes.

Pablo Pantoja, State Director of Florida Hispanic Outreach for the Republican National Committee, deciding he's had enough of the beatings:

From: Pablo Pantoja
Subject: From Republican to Democrat

Date: May 13, 2013 5:57:11 PM EDT

Friend,

Yes, I have changed my political affiliation to the Democratic Party.

It doesn’t take much to see the culture of intolerance surrounding the Republican Party today. I have wondered before about the seemingly harsh undertones about immigrants and others. Look no further; a well-known organization recently confirms the intolerance of that which seems different or strange to them [...]
The complete disregard of those who are in disadvantage is also palpable. We are not looking at an isolated incident of rhetoric or research. Others subscribe to motivating people to action by stating,“In California, a majority of all Hispanic births are illegitimate. That’s a lot of Democratic voters coming.” The discourse that moves the Republican Party is filled with this anti-immigrant movement and overall radicalization that is far removed from reality. Another quick example beyond the immigration debate happened during CPAC this year when a supporter shouted “For giving him shelter and food for all those years?” while a moderator explained how Frederick Douglass had written a letter to his slave master saying that he forgave him for “all the things you did to me.” I think you get the idea.

When the political discourse resorts to intolerance and hate, we all lose in what makes America great and the progress made in society.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/08/21/ridge....

Tom Ridge cites the Bush White House for trying to raise the terror Alert level prior to the 2004 elections.

Bush thought that his "reputation" as a fighter against terror would mean that raising the terror level would garner him votes.

Yet Barack Obama has a better record of killing the Al Qaeda leadership through drones & actually killing Bon Laden. So why would the White House not rush out & declare Benghazi a terror attack & that we needed to continue striking terror groups with drones???

Why would try to hide a terror attack two months prior to the election when they knew details would emerge?

This is why this Benghazi thing is total political BS. The main idea that this was a cover up makes zero sense.

The idea that these terrorists attacked a "consulate" in a remote area in Libya, an easy target, instead of the embassy in Tripoli or some other larger country shows that Al Qaeda, if involved at all, has been decimated to the point of picking such easy, remote targets.

If this attack by up to 400 attackers was so organized, why wasn't everyone killed?

All we have are Republicans looking to weaken the President & they have failed.

So now they try to take out Hillary in 2016. They will ail again.

All they will accomplish is making the Republican Party the party of not helping America recover & advance but the party of being all about winning the net election instead of helping their country.

Obama Killing Golden Eagles for Politics

CONVERSE COUNTY, Wyo.– The Obama administration has never fined or prosecuted a wind farm for killing eagles and other protected bird species, shielding the industry from liability and helping keep the scope of the deaths secret, an Associated Press investigation has found.

More than 573,000 birds are killed by the country's wind farms each year, including 83,000 hunting birds such as hawks, falcons and eagles, according to an estimate published in March in the peer-reviewed Wildlife Society Bulletin.

Each death is federal crime, a charge that the Obama administration has used to prosecute oil companies when birds drown in their waste pits, and power companies when birds are electrocuted by their power lines. No wind energy company has been prosecuted, even those that repeatedly flout the law.

Wind power, a pollution-free energy intended to ease global warming, is a cornerstone of President Barack Obama's energy plan. His administration has championed a $1 billion-a-year tax break to the industry that has nearly doubled the amount of wind power in his first term.

The large death toll at wind farms shows how the renewable energy rush comes with its own environmental consequences, trade-offs the Obama administration is willing to make in the name of cleaner energy.

"It is the rationale that we have to get off of carbon, we have to get off of fossil fuels, that allows them to justify this," said Tom Dougherty, a long-time environmentalist who worked for nearly 20 years for the National Wildlife Federation in the West, until his retirement in 2008. "But at what cost? In this case, the cost is too high."

Documents and emails obtained by The Associated Press offer glimpses of the problem: 14 deaths at seven facilities in California, five each in New Mexico and Oregon, one in Washington state and another in Nevada, where an eagle was found with a hole in its neck, exposing the bone.

One of the deadliest places in the country for golden eagles is Wyoming, where federal officials said wind farms had killed more than four dozen golden eagles since 2009, predominantly in the southeastern part of the state. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose the figures. Getting precise figures is impossible because many companies aren't required to disclose how many birds they kill. And when they do, experts say, the data can be unreliable.

You know, there is a distinct possibility that Obama really doesn't know what's going on around him. The 'puppet' theory might be closer to the truth than previously thought. Instead of the media being in his back pocket, the reverse may be the case - but I doubt it.
The "puppet" theory comes as no surprise to me and a lot of other people. I, myself, have been saying since November 2008 he just a front man and carefully selected by the powers that be. Others have called him an "empty suit" for the same amount of time.

He said he heard about the IRS targeting his opposition in the news at the same time along with the rest of us.

Seriously? Doesn't he have daily briefings by all departments in his administration? And he was never given a heads up by the Treasury Department that the IRS debacle was about to be exposed?

I find that incredulous and very distrubing at the same time.

They are still doing it today! All Saints Pasadena Rector Condemns “Evangelical Zionism,” Israel

December 13, 2012

On December 15, All Saints Episcopal Church of Pasadena hosted the annual convention of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, a group with Muslim Brotherhood origins and a controversial past. The question of why All Saints would collaborate with this specific group persisted. The answer came during the event when Reverend Ed Bacon listed “acts of evil” committed by Christians and included “evangelical Zionism.”

The first hint of a political objective behind this interfaith gathering came during a December 6 press conference. Salam al-Marayati, the president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), said that his organization seeks to help the U.S. act as an “honest broker” for peace in the Middle East. This is a soft way of saying that the U.S. must take a tough stand towards Israel, as evidenced by MPAC’s record of anti-Israel activism. The All Saints Episcopal Church leadership was standing with him. You can watch the useful idiot libs for yourself.

Sickening beyond words.
It's hard to tell who's MORE appalled - Democrats or Republicans.

Are you paying attention to what Democrats are saying? Even die hard Democrats? Their outrage is quite astonishing.

Actually, the only other time this has been done before - deliberately targeting the opposition using the IRS - was under the Nixon administration.

You know how that story ended.
