Z STREET brings this case because, through its corporate counsel, Z STREET was informed explicitly by an IRS Agent on July 19, 2010, that approval of Z STREET’s application for tax-exempt status has been at least delayed, and may be denied, because of a special IRS policy in place regarding organizations in any way connected with Israel, and further that the applications of many such Israel-related organizations have been assigned to “a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization's activities contradict the Administration's public policies.” These statements by an IRS official that the IRS maintains special policies (hereinafter the “Israel Special Policy”) governing applications for tax-exempt status by organizations which deal with Israel, and which requires particularly intense scrutiny of such applications and an enhanced risk of denial if made by organizations which espouse or support positions inconsistent with the Obama administration’s Israel policies, constitute an explicit admission of the crudest form of viewpoint discrimination, and one which is both totally un-American and flatly unconstitutional under the First Amendment.

Okay, this is what I don't understand.
The Libyans fighting for Gadaffi's overthrow were willing to die for that cause. If they lost that fight, Gadaffi would have not only killed all of them but their families.
There were 48 casualities in the recent strike on Libya...only some of which were the same civilians who would have been willing to die or would have been killed anyway in the fight.
If something is worth dying for - the end result to be exact - why is the Arab League so shocked and dismayed that some were killed as casualities in making it easier for them to achieve the end result?
I really don't get that kind of reasoning. Did they think this was going to be a nice and tidy overthrow?

Everett Dirksen played a much bigger role than Lyndon Johnson in getting the CRA of 1964 passed in Congress behind the scenes. All Johnson had to do was sign it and take all the credit for it. Seems to be a pattern among democrats.
After Dirksen's tireless efforts, "somewhat anticlimactically, the bill was signed into law by President Johnson on July 2, 1964." And then he took all the credit.
Indeed.
After U.S. Special Forces' tireless efforts in hunting bin Laden for five long years, somewhat anticlimatically, Obama announced bin Laden was dead. And then took all the credit.
Like I said, it's a pattern.
Liar, liar, your panties are on fire. You reversed history. It was President Lyndon B. johnson who gave all the credit to Everett Dirksen for getting the 1964 Civil Rights Bill passed. Johnson could have embarrassed Dirksen in public by pointing out that passage of the bill that so many believed was self-evidently the right thing to do was dragged out another long eight months of filibusters and debate before a watered down version of the original bill was voted on. Johnson had to go back up to urge Congress to pass the Voting Rights and Housing Rights Acts ( two fundamental individual rights(equality and suffrage) for all Americans left out of Dirksen's version of the 1964 Civil Rights Act)

Why? Because John McCain is backing Obama's immigration reform bill and ending the failed border war on drugs-- he supports the more logical and effective shifting to rehab/education rather than punishment for non-violent drug offenders. Obama won't take your guns, but you'll have to go to drug rehab to clean yourself up . Mom will be happy for you even if you won't be at first.

Because I back up what I post, here's the proof of my previous post.
"The gallery was packed on June 10, 1964, as all one hundred senators were present for the climactic moment of the longest filibuster in Senate history. Late in the morning Everett Dirksen rose from his seat to address the Senate. In poor health, drained from working fourteen-, fifteen-, and sixteen-hour days, his words came quietly. "There are many reasons why cloture should be invoked and a good civil rights measure enacted. It is said that on the night he died, Victor Hugo wrote in his diary substantially this sentiment,'Stronger than all the armies is an idea whose time has come.' The time has come for equality of opportunity in sharing of government, in education, and in employment. It must not be stayed or denied." After Dirksen spoke for fifteen minutes the motion for a roll call vote for cloture was heard. As each name was read, members of the press and spectators in the gallery kept tally. At 11:15 a.m., Senator John Williams of Delaware replied "aye" to the question. It was the sixty-seventh vote; cloture had passed, opening the way for the Civil Rights bill to be passed. After successfully defeating the eighty-three-day filibuster, Dirksen, when asked how he had become a crusader in this cause, replied, "I am involved in mankind, and whatever the skin, we are all included in mankind." Somewhat anticlimactically, the bill was signed into law by President Johnson on July 2, 1964."
http://www.lib.niu.edu/1996/iht319648.html
You're welcome.
Tenzing?
So, to Dirksen's credit he was instrumental in getting enough members of his own party to break with the Southern Democratic minority that halted the filibuster. But, give credit where credit is due. It was Johnson's shrewdness and expertise on handling the Congress that persuaded Dirksen to come over to the Democrat party and support passage of the Civil Rights bill. "Washington, June 19--The Senate passed the civil rights bill today by a vote of 73 - 27.

The final roll-call came at 7:40 P.M. on the 83d day of debate, nine days after closure was invoked.

Voting for the bill were 46 Democrats and 27 Republicans." ..."The Senate bill differs from the House measure chiefly in giving states and local communities more scope and time to deal with complaints of discrimination in hiring and public accommodations. It allows the Attorney General to initiate suits in these areas where he finds a "pattern of discrimination, but does not permit him, as did the House bill, to file suits on behalf of individuals."
