Officials from the US Internal Revenue Service apologized Friday after confessing that the agency had targeted conservative political groups, putting them under extra scrutiny during the months leading up to the 2012 presidential election.
Organizations that used words including “tea party” or “patriot” in their applications for tax-exempt status were flagged. Some were asked for their list of financial donors, a flagrant violation of IRS policy, Lois Lerner, an IRS division head, told the Associated Press.
“That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate,” she said.“That’s not how we go about selecting cases for further review. The IRS would like to apologize for that.”
Approximately 75 groups were targeted, although none had their tax-exempt status revoked, Lerner added. She reiterated that the scheme was started by low-level employees in Cincinnati, Ohio and that IRS higher-ups were not privy to what was happening at the time.
“They didn’t do it because of any political bias,” Lerner continued.“It was an error in judgment and it wasn’t appropriate but that’s what they did. We’ve now corrected these issues, and we don’t expect that any of these will be repeated going forward.”
Tea Party groups and similarly-minded activists who were outspoken in their disdain for US President Barack Obama complained of mistreatment from the IRS before the election, when political feelings are naturally heightened. Sal Russo, founder of the Tea Party Express political action committee, told ABC News that though his group was never harassed by the IRS, he did hear of government resistance to the tax exemption requests.

ABC News - Chris Christie is shrinking, and the House Republican conference is growing. What's old will be new again: An immigration bill is barely moving, the IRS looks like it's playing politics, and there's another health care repeal vote in the offing. Hillary Rodham Clinton is even back in the spotlight and may be back before Congress soon.

It's like the end of a movie where the truth was hidden by self-serving characters who are finally exposed.

It's just anticipating the outcome of the sequel.

Good morning everyone.

Republicans are blasting the Obama administration for failing to act on real-time information that the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya was under attack.

Emails obtained by the news agency Reuters show that officials at the State Department were told within two hours of the attack starting that the al-Qaida-affiliated group Ansar al-Sharia had claimed responsibility.

Reacting to the report, former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton said he was not surprised by the disclosure, telling Fox News' Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night that "what the emails show beyond any doubt is that the State Department was fully possessed of the information in real time."

Bolton said the "paper trail" now makes it harder for the Obama administration to "sweep away" the security failure at the U.S. compound in Benghazi, in which Ambassador Chris Stephens and three other Americans were killed.

On Capitol Hill, Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, called for additional hearings on Libya based on the emails, telling Fox News that he had already spoken to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who chairs the panel.

“This thing is getting more and more traction, more and more legs, and it’s getting uglier every day," Chambliss said. "And I think the thing we need to do is be honest with the American people — and say, here’s what we knew, here’s when we knew it, here’s what the president knew, and when the president knew it.”

Bolton also blamed the failure to launch an immediate military response to the attack, based on the email traffic that reportedly reached the White House situation room and the State Department, on election year politics and the administration's reluctance to admit that al-Qaida "was resurgent in Libya."

"It undercut the [Obama campaign] storyline that the war on terror is over, al-Qaida's on the run, the Arab spring has been a success," Bolton said. "And that led to the denials of the request [before the attack] for security enhancement. That led to the tragedy in Benghazi. And I think that then led to this ridiculous story that it was caused by some YouTube video."

Bolton described it as "a willful blindness" to reality.

That's right, the majority of Americans voted for Obamacare! Not only voted, but re voted for it, right John? Now, I won't lie, I've never read the provisions of the bill, so maybe you're right about the bill being a sham. We'll have to wait & see, but you can't deny the fact that democracy was a success in terms of passing "universal healthcare." You can oppose a persons ideology without opposing the person. That's where you people take it too far!

(NaturalNews) Barack Obama can't seem to make an appearance on the international stage without blaming America for all of the host nation's troubles. The latest example of this disgraceful behavior comes as part of a grotesquely ironic and hypocritical display in Mexico, where the president shamelessly pinned Mexican gun violence on the United States, but never uttered a single word about how his own administration is, in large part, responsible for it.

During a May 3 speech to Mexican university students, Obama dusted over the issue of drug violence to infer that, were it not for American guns, Mexico's numerous cartels would be much kinder and gentler or, at least, not as well-armed.

Per Reuters:

Drug-fueled violence in Mexico is not entirely the fault of the Mexican people, he said. Instead, the United States shares the blame because much of the violence is centered around the Americans' demand for illegal drugs and the fact that guns are smuggled into Mexico from the United States.

"In this relationship there is no senior partner or junior partner. We are two equal partners, two sovereign nations that must work together in mutual interest and mutual respect," Obama said.

What unbelievable hubris, to say nothing of revisionist history.

One of the many administration scandals getting a pass
But the hypocrisy did not stop there. Continuing, Obama actually vowed to jail American gun smugglers - an act that has been illegal in the U.S. for some time but which, according to his "see no evil" approach, does not apply to members of his own government:

"We recognize that most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States...we'll keep increasing the pressure on the gun traffickers who bring illegal guns into Mexico, and we'll keep putting these criminals where they belong - behind bars," he lectured.

Let's review - because you can bet Obama's enablers in the mainstream media sure aren't going to revisit this huge scandal.

Obama told Mexican university students he will continue to jail American gun smugglers ("we'll keep putting these criminals where they belong - behind bars"), but he conveniently left out of his speech the fact that he asserted executive privilege regarding documents tied to the Justice Department's botched "Operation Fast and Furious," a "gun-walking" scheme concocted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in collusion with Justice in which agents allowed guns purchased in the U.S. by straw buyers to "walk" across the border into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

The operation was run out of the Phoenix ATF office. The aim was to trace the weapons once they were obtained by cartels but the operation failed dismally. It began in the fall of 2009 and only ended in December 2010 after Border Patrol agency Brian Terry was murdered by one of the guns in Arizona.

Since then, more than 300 deaths in Mexico have been linked to Fast and Furious guns; hundreds are still mission. Worse, no one within the Justice Department has been held accountable for this heinous operation, and no one has said who developed it or who approved it.

It was almost surreal watching the flood gates open today at that press conference.
What appear almost 'surreal' are the fits and spasms of horror that you go through for something as inconsequential as editing 'talking points' about the causes of an overseas attack on one of our consulates? Isn't that what we ought to expect from responsible government officials to update their press releases as more information came in about the event?
