They summoned a whistleblower to Capitol Hill, but instead they got a virtuoso storyteller.

Gregory Hicks, the No. 2 U.S. diplomat in Libya the night Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed, was to be the star witness for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the man leading the probe of the Obama administration’s handling of the attack on the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.

But despite Issa’s incautious promise that the hearing’s revelations would be “damaging” to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Hicks didn’t lay a glove on the former secretary of state Wednesday. Rather, he held lawmakers from both parties rapt as he recounted the events of that terrifying night — revealing a made-for-Hollywood plot with a slow, theatrical delivery and genuine emotion.

....Hicks, bald and with a white chin beard, said his “jaw dropped” when he heard U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice falsely claim on TV that there had been a protest at the Benghazi consulate, but he declined an invitation to challenge the veracity of the director of national intelligence, who said the statement reflected “our collective best judgment at the time.”

Hicks said he thought a flyover by U.S. jets could have deterred the second of the two attacks that night, but he declined to question the judgment of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who has said there was no way to get the fighters there in time.

Hicks was of little use to Republicans in their efforts to connect the lapses in the Benghazi response to Clinton or to the Obama White House. He said that he spoke to Clinton by phone at 2 a.m. that night and that she supported his actions. He undermined one of Issa’s claims — that Clinton had rejected an increase in security for the Libya facilities — when he agreed that the secretary of state’s name appears on all cables, even if she doesn’t write them.

Hicks did have some damning things to say about the State Department trying to block him from cooperating with Issa’s committee. But that wasn’t quite the evidence Issa had promised: that politics drove the administration’s response to Benghazi.

Instead of hearing a tale of political shenanigans, those in the audience (including Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota) heard a far better story of confusion and desperation on the ground — such as Hicks’s attempt the morning after the fighting to send a four-member Special Forces team from Tripoli to Benghazi for reinforcement. When military higher-ups rejected the request, the team leader, a lieutenant colonel,“was furious,” Hicks recounted.“He said,‘This is the first time in my career that a diplomat has more balls than somebody in the military.’”

That’s not much use to Issa, but it will be a great line in the movie.

Ol' Darryl'll steal just about anything...seriously: "...One of those clients, car alarm manufacturer Steal Stopper, would become the path to Issa's fortune. It was struggling badly, and he took control of it by foreclosing a $60,000 loan he had made to it when its founder, Joey Adkins, missed a payment. Adkins remained as an employee.[9]

Issa soon turned Steal Stopper around, to the point that it was supplying Ford with thousands of car alarms and negotiating a similar deal with Toyota. But early in the morning of September 7, 1982, the offices and factory of Quantum and Steal Stopper in the Cleveland suburb of Maple Heights, caught fire. The fire took three hours to put out; the buildings and almost all inventory within were destroyed. An investigation of the cause of the fire noted "suspicious burn patterns" with fires starting in two places aided by an accelerant such as gasoline.[9] Adkins said that Issa appeared to prepare for a fire by increasing the fire insurance policy 462% three weeks previously, and by removing computer equipment holding accounting and customer information. Adkins said that he thinks Issa set the fire on purpose. The insurance company was suspicious of arson and paid only about one-tenth the insured amount."

The propagandists are at least letting the clueless in on a few facts about the Benghazi hearings. They did report the focus is now being squarely placed on Hillary Clinton and the State Department's bungling of the attack that was in progress.

Nevertheless, true to form, they concluded all by their lonesomes that the coverup was still an "overreach".

Yeah, Hillary knew it was a terrorist attack when it was in progress but still told the victim's family at the funeral they would find who was responsible for "that video", telling the American people the same thing for days.

Yeah, the State Department knew a terrorist attack was in progress and did virtually nothing and then claims no one knew anything about nothin'.

Yeah, Obama knew everything Hillary and the State Department knew as soon as they knew it and still told the American people and the UN it was because of "that video" as much as two weeks later, long after Hillary and government officials came clean.

But, sure, a coverup is definitely an "overreach".

God help us.

I call it as I see it. You should try it sometime.

Unless, of course, you defend Clinton dragging the entire country through the mud of kinky porn while 9/11 was being plotted.

Or why there was a "wall of miscommunication" between the CIA and FBI under Clinton's watch of which the 9/11 Commission Report said was in large part responsible for why 9/11 happened.

Or why Obama put his own agenda first instead of the best interest of the country focusing on Obamacare which not only delayed the recovery but stalled it and now threatens to create an even bigger recession.

Or maybe if you can defend half the country being dependent on the the other half with a percentage of those people thinking the entitlement state is now an acceptable lifestyle.

There's so much more you could defend but I don't have the strength to list them all. You get my gist though. Maybe we can just start with these. Go.

GOP Benghazi hearings a partisan disgrace

Perhaps during his next partisan exploitation of the tragic death of Americans at Benghazi, Libya, in political hearings paid for by American taxpayers, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) can replay then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warning him, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and other Republicans that their efforts to cut diplomatic security spending will endanger American lives.

Then House Republicans can testify en masse and offer a group apology for mocking and ignoring Clinton's warning.

The latest Issa public relations event, under the guise of a congressional hearing about the assault on the U.S Consulate in Benghazi, is the latest attack in the hyperpartisan and obsessive GOP war against President Obama, and it is the first failed attack against the most popular leader in America, who may well be the next president, Hillary Clinton.

Issa, whose abuse of congressional hearings for partisan political purposes sometimes makes him resemble a farm team Joseph McCarthy, joined Chaffetz and most Republicans in battling to cut embassy security spending before Benghazi.

As Welch said to McCarthy: Have they no shame? It will be a test of the integrity and professionalism of the media to watch whether Issa and Chaffetz are asked to apologize for their efforts to cut diplomatic spending every time they parade before the cameras in their partisan schtick.

There is more. After the Benghazi tragedy, Obama and Clinton designated retired Admiral and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen and Ambassador Thomas Pickering, who both served Republican and Democratic presidents with distinction, to investigate who was responsible for the Benghazi tragedy.

In a recent statement, Mullen and Pickering stated: "We had unfettered access to everyone and everything including all of the documentation we needed. Our marching orders were to get to the bottom of what happened, and that's what we did."

Are Issa and Chaffetz questioning the integrity of Mullen? Be careful, gentlemen. One of McCarthy's last acts before being brought down was attacking the integrity of the U.S. military.

There is more. I am one of Hillary Clinton's strongest supporters but have always said that mistakes were made before Benghazi and she should not be immune to criticism. But Clinton, to her great credit, stepped up to the plate and accepted responsibility long ago.

Will Republicans accept their responsibility for fighting to cut diplomatic security spending?

There is more. Now comes former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, talk show host and employee of Fox News, in the latest example of what increasingly looks like a GOP freak show, predicting President Obama will be forced to leave office early because of Benghazi.

There is more. Now comes the ubiquitous birther and former Republican front-running presidential candidate Donald Trump adding his one cent about Benghazi. My advice to Issa is cut out the public relations, cancel any further show-horse hearings, prepare an intelligent and bipartisan report, and stop wasting taxpayer money on these one-party spectacles.

Clinton took responsibility long ago. These GOP attacks have the force of being savaged by a dead sheep, and they have only left Clinton more popular than ever. Take a hint, Mr. Issa.

Are you stupid and lazy for not proofreading your own posts? I'll apologize if the cause is that you had no formal school training in English grammar . Did you just write , "They did report the focus is now being squarely placed on Hillary Clinton and the State Department's bungling of the attack that was in progress."?!? You seem to want to say that the focus of the inquiry is that Hillary and the State Department launched an attack on our own consulate in Benghazi? That would indeed be a 'scandal',but where's your evidence, witnesses, etc.? Also, Hillary never mentioned the 'video' in her consoling words to the victims families .“For me, this is not just a matter of policy, it’s personal. I stood next to President Obama as the Marines carried those flag-draped caskets off the plane at Andrews,” Clinton said, her voice breaking.“I put my arms around the mothers and fathers, the sisters and brothers, the sons and daughters, and the wives left alone to raise their children.” Check this out: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/hillary-clinton-ch...
