Ted Cruz and the Politics of Imprudence
.... this episode touches on a deeper matter, which is the habit some on the right have of confusing principled convictions with self-destructive tactics. Rather than selectively picking the ground on which to fight, they seem to relish brinksmanship and conflict, even if they lose those confrontations legislatively and in the court of public opinion. But what makes this whole thing slightly bizarre is that in the process the self-styled purists accuse those who oppose them as being (in Cruz’s elegant description)“a bunch of squishes.”
It takes a person of unusual ideological brittleness to mock those who are intelligent enough not to join a lawmaker and his colleagues in their version of Pickett’s Charge.

<quoted text> You're right, sonicfilter. The 'family values','pro-business' politics was flushed down the toilet with Sanford's win over Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, a honest , respectable, successful local businesswoman from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
can you just imagine the FOXbot uproar if it had been a liberal who'd committed adultery, while using taxpayer money to fund it, and he got reelected?

<quoted text> Yes, Jimmy , Sanford wins and it's Springtime for adulterers and criminals. Mark Sanford was an adulterer, a criminal(broke into his ex-wife's home), committed malfeasance while Governor( ran off to screw his Argentina skank without informing his staff or the state legislature that he left the country then lied about it), and Sanford supported Mitt Romney who made tons of money off of his Bain Capital company SteriCycle (medical waste business) after Romneycare that offers free abortions on demand passed in Massachusetts. Yeah, right, Mark Sanford is as much a 'family values' guy as Newt 'the snake' Gingrich! LOL
And yet the voters preferred Sanford over a Nancy Pelosi stooge.

Andrew McCarthy, a former prosecutor from Manhattan and the lead prosecutor in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, said of Obama's handling of Benghazi:

"Dereliction of duty is an impeachable offense. But this is the most gross dereliction of duty under these circumstances from a commander in chief and his immediate subordinates that I ever remember seeing in my experience. And we haven't gotten an explanation — if there were coherent reasons why no action was taken."

It is not the government's job to pick winners and losers.
And yet, John Galt , the American way of government to 'pick winners and losers' to make this the wealthy , great and powerful country that it is today has been tradition since George Washington's time. Even President George Washington 'picked winners and losers ' in getting the Erie Canal built that opened the West to the pioneers , economic development, and progress. If government's picking winners and losers works and it sure as hell did work in America to make us all the wealthiest people on the Earth then why not?

No Carol, Romney didn't go out of his way to hire women. His "binders full of women" statement was just one of many lies he told during the campaign. The "binder" of women's résumés was prepared before the election by the Massachusetts Government Appointments Project, a coalition of nonpartisan women's groups. When Romney won, the women -- not in binders -- gave him the résumés.
A study by the University of Massachusetts and the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy shows that the percentage of women in senior positions during his tenure actually declined. It went from 30% when Romney took office to 27% when he left and up to more than 33% after the new governor took over.

But go ahead and keep living in that alternate universe.
That's funny...because a liberal woman on Fox said her company was contacted by Romney in seeking qualified women to serve on his cabinet and she bomblasted the juvenile criticism by liberals because of the terminology to describe a professional portfolio often referred to as a binder.

You liberals really need to stop picking at scabs and worry more about excising the cancer in your party's ideology.

I guess that's your critical judgement on the low morals of many South Carolina voters? Thanks for confirming my suspicions . South Carolina voters would rather forgive adultery, breaking and entering, lying, sloth, greed and sexual perversion in Mark Sanford then vote for honesty, respect, successful business values in Elizabeth Colbert-Busch.

The liberals are in full-scale mode spin cycle in the hearings that are about to start.

The panel is right now giving opening statements and already a few liberals are exhibiting symptoms of having taken spin steroids this morning.

The beauty of liberal indignation is that when they are obviously on the defensive, they just dig themselves deeper and deeper.

Republicans aren't digging themselves a deeper hole? "And the ironic beauty of Republican indignation is that they can't even find the time to read bills that they propose. LOL!!!Robert Rector, the Heritage Foundation senior research fellow who co-authored the right-wing think tank’s heavily disputed study on immigration reform, admitted Tuesday that he hasn’t actually read the bill in question.

Rector made waves Monday with his report that the Senate “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill would cost taxpayers a minimum of $6.3 trillion. That conclusion was immediately criticized by a wide range of Rector’s fellow conservatives such as Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), and the Cato Institute, which called Rector’s methodology “fatally flawed.”

One of Cato’s chief complaints is that Rector ignored the historical evidence suggesting that immigrants’ wages would increase dramatically after they are legalized. Rector responded to that criticism at a Heritage Foundation event — after admitting that “I have not examined the whole bill yet.”Check this out: http://www.nationalmemo.com/heritage-immigrat...
