ALL HAPPENING UNDER OBAMAS PRESIDENCY Civil Rights and Human Liberties under Threat
Eighteen college and universities worldwide have researched and validated 233 independent news stories for the annual Project Censored review cycle. These independent news stories have seen little if any coverage by the corporate media. The Project Censored network is currently voting on the top 25 most important stories for inclusion in Censored 2014: Fearless Speech in Fateful Times, the latest edition of our annual yearbook, scheduled for release by Seven Stories Press in October 2013.

Please help us maintain this annual process by becoming a subscriber ($5-$10 a month) or by making a one time tax deductible donation of support here. We thank you for your support and please review the latest Validated Independent News stories on Civil Liberties and Human Rights being Under Threat below.

Civil Liberties and Human Rights Under Threat
“Culture of Cruelty” Along US-Mexico Border Migrants crossing the Mexico-US border face not only the dangers of dehydration, starvation, exhaustion, but also abuse at the hands of the US Border Patrol. In “A Culture of Cruelty,” the organization No More Deaths reveals human rights violations by the US Border Patrol including limiting or denying migrants water and food, verbal and physical abuse, and failing to provide necessary medical attention. Erika Sánchez reports,“dehumanization of immigrants is actually part of the Border Patrol’s institutional culture.”

Nina Rosenwald:“Sugar Mama of Anti-Muslim Hate” Since 2000, Nina Rosenwald and her sister Elizabeth Varet have donated more than $2.8 million to anti-Muslim groups and organizations, making her, in Max Blumenthal’s words,“the sugar mama of anti-Muslim hate.” In addition to donating millions of dollars to these organizations, Rosenwald serves on the board of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), America’s largest pro-Israel lobby, and she currently holds additional positions in other pro-Israel organizations.

Pennsylvania Law Gags Doctors to Protect Oil Company Profits In communities affected by fracking, people understand the environment and their health is at risk. In Pennsylvania, a new state law requires drilling companies to tell doctors what chemicals they are pumping into the ground in order to extract natural gas. Doctors need to identify the chemicals so they can diagnose and treat patients who have been exposed. However, because the companies deem the chemical ingredients they are injecting into people’s backyards “proprietary secrets,” the law imposes a gag on doctors, forbidding them from telling anyone, including their own patients or other health professionals, what chemicals are causing the sickness.

Double Standards Plague New York Police Civilian Complaint Review Board New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) has been operating under double standards. Designed to operate as a fact-finding organization, the CCRB reviews complaints and is supposed to refer “substantiated” cases to the NYPD’s Advocate’s Office, which internally investigates officers accused of wrongdoing. Officially any case that involved a “preponderance of evidence” ought to be forwarded to the Advocate’s Office for investigation, but in practice CCRB reviewers used a higher standard, closer to the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard used in criminal courts. As a result, fewer officers face official investigation for misconduct charges.

Fox News host Geraldo Rivera: GOP crippled by right wing radio hosts

Fox News host Geraldo Rivera on Monday criticized the power that conservative radio show hosts wielded over the Republican Party.

On HuffPost Live, Rivera described those who listened to conservative hosts like Rush Limbaugh as “absolutists” who were fond of the 1950s. He said Republicans could never hope to regain the White House if they pandered to such demographics, who were stubbornly opposed to immigration reform and same-sex marriage.

“I think talk radio has driven the platform drafters in the GOP for at least the last several election cycles,” Rivera continued.

Try again Jane. Are your school records sealed or not?
The media rush was not the media's fault. When McCain picked a virtual unknown, sh*t happens.
Palin's story was interesting because it showed what a clawing, self absorbed b*tch she is. Trouncing friends *& colleagues to climb a little higher.
The story became how could the Republicans run such a person as VP.

ALL UNDER OBAMA Transit authorities in cities across the country are quietly installing microphone-enabled surveillance systems on public buses that would give them the ability to record private conversations. San Francisco, Baltimore, and other cities are installing the listening devices with funding from the Department of Homeland Security.

Transit officials claim the systems will help improve the safety of passengers and drivers and resolve complaints from the riders. Civil liberties complained that the systems would violate wiretapping laws and constitutional protections against illegal search and apprehension.

Attorney generals indicated that signs warning passengers of the surveillance would help battle any illegal challenges.

RICHMOND, Va.-- The FBI has begun looking at the relationship between Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and the chief executive of a nutritional supplements manufacturer that is the subject of an investigation, two people with knowledge of the review said.

Federal authorities began questioning people close to McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, as an outgrowth of a securities probe of Virginia-based Star Scientific Inc., said the two people, who spoke Monday on the condition of anonymity because their roles in the case preclude them from speaking publicly.

They said FBI agents have asked questions about gifts the McDonnells have received from company CEO Jonnie Williams and whether the Republican governor or his administration aided the company in return.

Here is the video Davey was attempting to use a cheap attack as a defense.

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

It truly does exist.

With Gosnell's trial going to jury today, late term abortion and infanticide comes to the forefront.

Gosnell is stuck claiming the infants were already dead and he had a fetish about nearly decapitating late term infants. Unbelievable!

The Left has sit up a situation were the open window for abortions will be pushed back earlier in the pregnancy.

The right to vote? A candid history of voter suppression in the United States Though voter suppression featured prominently in US news during the last election, the issue of who has the right to vote is “a long-running class battle between the wealthy elite and the workers,” reports Christina López.“The biggest form of voter suppression,” she writes,“is that workers and the poor have nobody to vote for who represents their interests.”

OBAMA IS NOW THE HEAD The Spoils of War: Afghanistan’s Multibillion Dollar Heroin Trade
Washington's Hidden Agenda: Restore the Drug Trade
In the course of the last three years, there has been a surge in Afghan opium production. The Vienna based UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reveals that poppy cultivation in 2012 extends over an area of more than 154,000 hectares, an increase of 18% over 2011. A UNODC spokesperson has confirmed that opium production is heading towards record levels.

According to the 2012 Afghanistan Opium Survey released in November 2012 by the Ministry of Counter Narcotics (MCN) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). potential opium production in 2012 was of the order of 3,700 tons, according to UNODC data.

There is reason to believe that this figure of 3700 tons is grossly underestimated. While bad weather and damaged crops may have played a role as suggested by the UNODC, the estimated potential production for an area of cultivation of 154,000 hectares, is well in excess of 6000 tons. With 80,000 hectares in cultivation in 2003, production was already of the order of 3600 tons.

It is worth noting that UNODC has modified the concepts and figures on opium sales and heroin production, as outlined by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).

A change in UN methodology in 2010 resulted in a sharp downward revision of Afghan heroin production estimates for 2004 to 2011. UNODC used to estimate that the entire global opium crop was processed into heroin, and provided global heroin production estimates on that basis. Before 2010, a global conversion rate of about 10 kg of opium to 1 kg of heroin was used to estimate world heroin production (17). For instance, the estimated 4 620 tonnes of opium harvested worldwide in 2005 was thought to make it possible to manufacture 472 tonnes of heroin (UNODC, 2009a). However, UNODC now estimates that a large proportion of the Afghan opium harvest is not processed into heroin or morphine but remains ‘available on the drug market as opium’(UNODC, 2010a).…EU drug markets report: a strategic analysis, EMCDDA, Lisbon, January 2013 emphasis added

There is no evidence that a large percentage of opium production is no longer processed into heroin as claimed by the UN. This revised UNODC methodology has served,–through the outright manipulation of statistical concepts– to artificially reduce the size of of the global trade in heroin.

According to the UNODC, quoted in the EMCDDA report:

“an estimated 3 400 tonnes of Afghan opium was not transformed into heroin or morphine in 2011. Compared with previous years, this is an exceptionally high proportion of the total crop, representing nearly 60 % of the Afghan opium harvest and close to 50 % of the global harvest in 2011.

What the UNODC,–whose mandate is to support the prevention of organized criminal activity– has done is to obfuscate the size and criminal nature of the Afghan drug trade, intimating –without evidence– that a large part of the opium is no longer channeled towards the illegal heroin market.

In 2012, according to the UNODC farmgate prices for opium were of the order of 196 per kg.

Each kg. of opium produces 100 grams of pure heroin. The US retail prices for heroin (with a low level of purity) is, according to UNODC of the order of $172 a gram. The price per gram of pure heroin is substantially higher.

The Obama FBI was alerted the Jihad activity of this family over two years ago. Concentrate! That is the issue.
It was the OBAMA administration that gave the younger brother permanent residence status on 9/11/12 -same day as the Benghazi attack. This happen after the family was on the TIDE list.

Go try to blame someone else for that.

However, I agree we need to tighten up our immigration policies. There are definitely undesirables that we are admitting.
